Ana Grey is a year old 08/06/09. When she was about 5 months old I thought I heard her say "hello" but never again. She did a lot of mumbling and such but her first for certain words were at 9 or 10 months old. She now says, "what are you doing" "I love you" and "How are you." I don't believe she understands what she is saying. She does know what come here means, she has said it before but she doesn't say it now. She only always comes to me if I say these words. She knows what want a nut means because she always leans toward in anticipation of receiving a nut (I don't have the nut until she responds), but she doesn't say the words. She is a great wolf whistler and uses it a lot as her contact call (it will be quite interesting if she every goes wandering :ohmy: ) But for sure I will know it's her because she wolf whistles in about four different ways consecutively. (This is due to my poor whistling ability She doesn't say single words. Perhaps because I don't talk to her in single words. <br><br>Post edited by: luvparrots, at: 2009/08/06 22:58

My Ana Grey is very shy of other people; I do, however, admit that I am very picky about who I let near my grey and I do not encourage anyone to touch her. Excluding family of course. She does like to be where the action is but if strangers go near her she will growl very unattractively.

Pat I don't know how to get a fid to stop showing his love, but if that is the worst problem you have with Harley, I would say, don't worry, be happy!!!!! :kiss:

Talk to your baby grey as you would to a human baby and your sweet baby grey will pick up on the words. Just be patient and say hello when appropriate and nite nite when appropriate, etc. Talk about what you are doing and your grey's desire to please and mimic will soon turn his mumblings and whistles into words. Just enjoy your sweet fid.

My re-homed Eclectus rubs his beak on the cage bars and has a bald spot beside the right side of his beak. I just try to keep him busy and out of his cage as much as possible. He is over 10 years old so I don't think I am stopping the habit but perhaps I can slow it down. Good luck with your fid.

Tomorrow Ana Grey will be a year old so I wanted to take this opportunity to thank Caroline for all her kindness and expertise on baby greys and life in general. Without her I would have been lost. So Ana Grey closes the Nursery Room door. Tomorrow is another day!!! :kiss:

I would say he is just stretching his wings and other limbs and getting the attention of the family with his screeching. Every family member needs a little recognition and this is his way of joining in and getting his time in the sun!

Having different diameters for perches is great for our fids. Get both. My Ana Grey has a couple of swings she enjoys them occasionally. She mostly enjoy sitting and climbing over her cargo net that hangs in front of my office window.

I believe Lil Einstein just wants out of his cage. There are several threads where others have asked this question. It is normal for a younger grey to do this, some want attention, some just want out of the cage. Since you are available open the door and see if he wants out.
