1. These true stories are always heartbreaking. I am so glad we no longer import parrots from around the world.

5. Jen, you worry wart, Lyric will be fine. You have a great time. You know what to do. Explain to Lyric that you are going to be gone a couple of days and to be good. Tell him when you will be back and scoot out the door. Can't wait to hear about the great time you have and to hear how much Lyric appreciates you when you get home!

7. I guess it just depends on the weaned baby. My little Timneh came home at 3½ months and she was all over her cage no problem. Ask the breeder how your baby has been doing with perching. Ask your breeder all your baby's habits and likes and dislikes so you will know for sure and be better prepared.
8. Oh poor befuddled kitty. It is funny though in a perverted sort of way.
9. Steve that is so funny too. I guess I'd better stop calling Ana Grey a "Silly Bird" or she will be repeating it!!!!
10. Hi Rainfire, my first parrot was my weaned baby and it has been delightful. I have learned so much from my sweet little Timneh, Ana Grey. We learned together and we are totally bonded. She gave me the confidence to re-home an older Eclectus (10+ years), which is a totally different experience. As a novice bird owner, I would say it would be best to start with a weaned baby and if your interest is peaked by the love of a wonderful grey than your second parrot could be an older one. Your experience with a baby grey will be a benefit to both of you. Welcome to the Grey family.

Post edited by: luvparrots, at: 2009/08/16 06:12
11. My, you do have quite a little zoo going there. I would love to see some pictures of your possum and Barraband. Indy is a great name for a grey!
12. I checked out your pictures. They are great. Thanks for sharing!!!
13. I hope Bandit stays safe. If you don't have an air purifier if you can I would get one for her room.
14. {Feel-good-0002006E} A lot of bird in a little package. Fantastic!!!! Big Bird, I like it!!!
15. Oh what a sweetheart your little Hans Macaw is!!!! What have you named her???
16. Hi Roseilee so glad you decided to join us!!! What is your CAG's name? Can't wait to hear more about him. Welcome to the Grey family!
17. Then I would keep it and save it for a rainy day. When things get better (surely our economy has to improve) I would sell it and put the money in savings, or whatever for when you or the kids need it. Enjoy!
18. {Feel-good-0002006E} Wonder where she learned those phrases?????
19. Perhaps he feels he has never done right by you and is trying to make up for it now, exactly like he said. As long has there are no strings attached that you don't want, accept his offer for forgiveness and enjoy your new bling. Of course, the only way to really know is to ask him.
20. When I first re-homed my Eclectus he would scream/shriek very loud and I would just talk to him. In the morning he would scream and I would sing to him. I think he just wanted to know that he wasn't alone. He now only screams when he wants the lights off in the bird room so he can go to sleep or if he wants me to come get him out of his cage. His screaming only happens when he wants or needs something and he is not shy about expressing his desires. The key is to find out what your fid needs or wants and how to best accomplish it so everyone is happy. Good luck.
21. Oh Pat, this post brought tears to my eyes. Harley is safe now, that is what is important. I would certainly ask your avian vet what the best course of action is.
22. Oh you always have to watch out for the blondies, one way or another!!!!! Ha,ha,ha,ha!!!!
23. Congratulations on Smokie opening up and starting to talk. Sorry about the foul language just try not to react negatively and hope it fades away to oblivion.
24. Hi ysanne, so sorry to hear your grey has chosen your husband as her favorite. By the way, what is your grey's name? This is not an unusual thing to happen as there are other members who face the same problem. You should introduce yourself in the Welcome/Introduction Room so that everyone can get to know you.
25. I have heard that story (or one like it) before and find it fascinating! Thanks for sharing it GorgASS!
