  1. I commend you ParrotLawyer for giving Hunter a new and permanent forever home. We all make our own choices in life and I am sure there were other considerations that Hunter's prior owner had to take into consideration when he gave up his grey. I do know from personal experience that no one can make anyone do something they don't want to do there is always a way. So kudos to you for wanting to give Hunter a good and happy home!!!!
  2. Great pictures of Timmy!!!! I agree, you need your own canon!!!! Let's hope your friend forgets about his camera for a little while longer!!!!
  3. I hope you succeed in your quest to recolonize the Purple Martin at your home. I looked them up (I am from the NW and you and your Purple Martins are far, far away). Anywho, they are gorgeous birds so I am looking forward to your hopeful flock and can't wait to see some pictures and hear some interesting tales about them!!! Good luck!
  4. My grey and zon both enjoy chewing on wood. So wooden toys are a must. They both also like to play with plastic golf practice balls, the ones with the holes in them as well as the plastic baseballs with holes in them. Soda pop plastic bottle caps are also a hit around here. I am a forum member who loves to watch my parrots fly around. I feel it is much safer for them because they aren't walking on the floors to be stepped on. It is a personal preference that only you can decide on. I do feel my birds are much happier and active because of their ability to fly. I don't worry about my grey and zon because they are flighted and can get out of harms way. Now my ekkie can fly but was unflighted for 7 1/2 years before I adopted him and he chooses not to fly most of the time and I worry about him walking around and getting under foot.
  5. A grey is going to talk when it wants to talk. My daughter has been trying to get my grey to say "Hello gorgeous" and she won't even attempt it. Neither will my Amazon. But you can say a word one time and if your grey likes the sound, it is a hit and you will hear that word whether you want to or not!!! Have you tried other words like, "want a nut" and then give your grey a nut. Ana Grey says these words all the time as she loves pecan nuts. Be patient some parrots take longer to talk then others. And some don't talk at all.
  6. Krikkit, you will find the grey for you have no fear. Hang around so that we can go through the search with you!!! We are a great cheering section, honest!!!! Good luck on your quest.
  7. Waiting for the service man to come and jump start my car!!!!! bummer!!!!
  8. Have PVC stands and atoms. I don't even cover them with wrap as my fids like them natural and have no problems with them. Isn't PVC pipe used for water lines also???
  9. Yes Robin quit teasing everyone!!!!! We would love to see Yoshi and the flock!!!!
  10. Chili Pepper certainly is a looker!!!!! What great pictures of your stately Zon. Can't wait to hear some stories, our zons are such energetic and actively clowns!!!! Got to love 'em!!!!
  11. Glad you decided to come back and see the family!!!! Looking forward to hearing about you and Gus' adventures. Gus is one of our older greys so I can't wait to hear that he has been up to!!!!!
  12. Hi Ian and Sharon, I too have grown children with their own lives so am grateful for the companionship of my winged babies. They can certainly take up all your time and love. I have been searching for another grey, a CAG this time, and have finally found one in California. I live in Washington State. I know you will find the right grey for you and with the right socialization your new baby will grow with your friends and family as well. I am looking forward to traveling with you while you search for your grey. Welcome to the Grey family!
  13. Got an e-mail from Eva about my little Isabella!!! Am all excited and can't wait. Had to sent the first new cage back as it was warped and had a broken wire! I was not a happy camper. Anyhow, e-mail from Eva: "Isabella, she is a sweetheart. She is still on 2 feedings a day but is already eating her solid foods. she started climbing to the top of her cage and perching on the highest perch. she loves almonds. she is still very clumsy as they all are at this age." So I will have to be patient for my little girlie to come home!!!!
  14. The black and white photo is my very favorite!!!! Gorgeous photography Sanggay!
  15. Oh yes please call an avian vet for clarification. My grey never does what you describe so please do check it out.
  16. Both my TAG ( 2 1/2) and ZON ( 3) drop their wings when they see me. I just ignore it and let them out of their cages and talk to them. When Ana Grey nips at me for scratches too often I just have her step up and launch her off (she is flighted) so that she is flying around the room. It gives her exercise and whatever attention she wanted is deflated with the flying activity. I also have lots of wood toys and bells at the hanging perches around my home. These toys keep the fids busy and their minds on a more productive project then pestering me. I also leave a radio on in by their cages (very low) so that they have something to listen to. It takes a little imagination and determination to get these intelligent beings aimed in the right direction. Good luck!
  17. What lovely pictures of Pepper!!!! Glad to hear from you Brittany. Congrats on the new baby, boy or girl, do you know yet?
  18. Congratulations on finding the right Congo for you. I wish you oodles of luck on the transition. You have been given some excellent advice, I'm rooting for you, Dexter and Shasta!!!!
  19. Hi Jeana, you have a great heart to take in these two greys. As others have already said, they will need to each have their own cages. I have re-homed an older eclectus who is totally set in his ways. He has his own schedule and insists that it not be changed. He wants the lights off at 7:00 pm and he will scream if the lights don't go out, no exceptions. He was found 10 years ago and was a plucker, and he is still a plucker, much to my dismay, but we are trying. I look forward to hearing more about your two greys and seeing some pictures.
  20. Hi Zoom, welcome to the Grey family! Can't wait to hear about your new grey when you find the right one. Are you looking for a Timneh or a Congo? We have an Amazon Room so I am looking forward to hearing about Kazoo. Pictures of your flock please!
  21. I have one Timneh grey, Ana Grey, and she is a talker. I also have a re-homed BF Amazon who talks in Hindi and is now learning English. He a great linguist. My re-homed male eclectus does not talk except to say hi and laugh and make a laser sound. So I believe it is up to each parrot to whether they talk or not. I am also getting a new Congo grey, Baby Isabella, and have no fear that if she is able to talk that she will. So personally, have no fear, a parrot will talk of it is meant to.
  22. Happy Birthday Heather!!! Have a wonderful and enjoyable day!!!! Janet

  23. Its so nice to see the different Amazons we have here at the Forum!!! I know there are some more out there lurking around. So come on everyone, show us your Amazons!!!
  24. Be calm, our greys shed feathers now and then like we shed dry skin, hair, etc. Normal!!!!
  25. Hi Lino, not from Singapore but have been there and seen your wonderful Salt Water Aquarium and Singapore Botanic Gardens. Once you get to know your grey, I'm sure a the right name will pop right into your head. I look forward to hearing more about your grey and seeing some pictures when you get a chance! Welcome to the Grey family!
