  1. I grew up in the country so animals and birds have always been a part of my life. My father loved the feathered creatures and he just instilled it in all of us!
  2. Great outdoor pictures. Love the one with the rawhide! Dayo is a lovely TAG, and I love those TAGs!
  3. Glad to hear Sully is fine! Thanks for the yogurt tip, just in case! My Ana Grey is also a TAG and just turned 3. She weighs in at 298 g and is very active. I think she is just a petite little lady and full of vinegar! Sully to me looks marvelous!
  4. To clip or not to clip is a personal choice. One that should be made individually. My zon has never been clipped and because of his personality and choices will remain so. Ana Grey was clipped by the breeder and has been flighted since the feathers grew back. If I were to clip her, it would be for her safety and for no other reason, she longs to be flying free outside and if I ever feel she will make a diligent effort to "make the escape" I would not hesitate to clip her. Sterling is a baby still and just loves to eat and be with me, so we will see. I love to see flighted birds and God willing, mine will remain so as long as possible. Circumstances change, life changes so we will see. So I will not take your poll either as this is a personal choice and could change if the circumstances warrant.
  5. You can always look on the internet, there is oodles of information there.
  6. Hi Kim, I hope your search is fruitful and you find the right grey for you very soon! Welcome to the Grey family!
  7. So you were a little careless, aren't we all now and then. The important thing is that you acted quickly and did all the necessary things to ensure that Sully will be fine. Besides, my gang loves gatorade so am sure Sully is enjoying his "treat"! It's things like this that remind us that we are raising a grey that is so like a rambunctious child always getting into something. (Remember, I am the lady that had the CAG hanging upside down from a bell chain wrapped around his little leg! And he was not even three feet from me at the time!) Sully is so lucky to have a parront who cares so much!!!!
  8. I believe closed bands are typically used for hatchlings. Open bands are used for older or full-grown birds. They are not required in the USA. I have three parrots and only my zon has a closed band. I have had my two greys micro-chipped so that any veterinarian can read for the chip and find me.
  9. Gwen, all my parrots are busy all day long and into everything. Sterling Gris is always busy or into something. If he isn't being bullied by Louie and Ana Grey, he is pestering them to no end! He really didn't learn is lesson about the bell because he is always banging around it or fighting Louie for it! As for talking, he just turned 5 months old!!!! If he does talk, it will be great, but with two parrots already talking up at storm I can wait awhile! He is whistling and make sounds though! Having three flighted parrots loose all day can be very trying!!!! LOL!!! Got to love it!!!!
  10. Hi Melissa, lgreat introduction. I'm looking forward to hearing about your journey to find the right grey for you!
  11. I have a new 5 month old grey I have had for about a month. I live alone so anytime someone new comes into my home, Sterling is hisses and flies away when they go near him. It takes him a while to "warm up" to different people. Once he is more comfortable, I'm sure he will relax. As for smell my grey has a great sense of smell, as soon as I get a snack or a bowl of food she is right there getting her share. She will come from the back of the house to get her treat! I believe most wild creatures have a great smell sense or how less would they survive in the wild. Just give your grey a chance to get use to the changes in your home and relax because they so sense our feelings.
  12. Hi Parrot14. Great looking pictures of your CAG Zidane. I look forward to hearing more about him. Welcome to the Grey Family!
  13. This is great news Paul, I agree with Julie, be there early wearing something Murphy will recognize if you can and call to him with words, sounds, phrases he will recognize and with some goodies he can smell and recognize. I wish you great luck and lots of good prayers coming Murphy's way. Get a little rest for tomorrow!
  14. Great pictures of Zak! Love the outdoor ones!
  15. Welcome home Natasha! Looking forward to hearing an update on your greys! And yes, pictures please.
  16. Now those are the kind of friends to have!!LOL!!!!! Bring on the Parrot Shower!!!! Pictures please!!!!
  17. Beautiful pictures of your flock! Just love them!
  18. I guess I'm lucky, my parrots always hit just below where they sit. My grey usually leaves a present as soon as she gets out of her cage each morning. Straight down, I just have to have a newspaper under the open door. So far none of them have pooped on me, and for that, I am grateful!
  19. Congratulations on making the final commitment! Looking forward to meeting and hearing about Little Gracie Bee or Miles. Hooray!!!
  20. Hi Jess, it is so good to hear from you!!!!! Strong prayers for your safe return home and I believe you will have a loving grey again, as you are a great parront! So glad you haven't forgotten us, as we certainly miss and look forward to hearing from you any chance you get. Stay safe and I look forward to hearing from you again!!!
  21. My Blue Front Amazon, Louie, is a re-homed parrot, and I am totally delighted to have him in his new forever home! One of the best things I have every done! I also re-homed a male eclectus which didn't mesh well with me but I was determined that he would have a loving forever home, now two years later, Sully has a new forever home with a young man who loves him unconditionally. So yes, Sheila we should all do what we can for our flighted friends. Great post!!!
  22. Oh yes, I miss Jay and Maggie so much! I wish they would at least pop in and let us know all is well. We do need our Amazon King back that's for sure!!!
  23. So right Judy, Sterling didn't get the ratty little tail dancing, that's for sure!!! LOL!!!
  24. Barbara, I preferred a little girl, but I wasn't having any luck finding one!!!!! So Sterling is my boy and I will love him to pieces (if he doesn't do me in first!!!! LOL!!)
  25. LOL!!! Then I guess I'm lucky Ray, my hair is already white!!!!! LOL!
