  1. Excellent posts birdhouse and Elvenking. You have not given an abundance of information greymullet. From your original post, I would have to say, look to yourself and see what is different about you or your surroundings. What have you changed that would cause a reaction from Joe that is aimed at only you. I don't have any answers other than what I have post because in my three years with my grey, she has never reacted in the manner you have described. Unless we see or totally understand the situation, everyone can only guess.
  2. Lovely pictures of Bean! Thanks for sharing your sweet companion with us!
  3. Rachael, welcome to the Grey family! Oh yes open the door and let your new friend decide when he wants to come out. What did the prior owners tell you about his daily routine? If you have contact with them, I believe that is the first place to start, to see what he is use to doing. By the way, what is your new friend's name? I can't wait to hear more. I think he will love his new home and his new cage!
  4. I am praying that Tumba can be helped and be okay once again. Twenty years so far together, how wonderful. Praying there are many, many, many more to come.
  5. Micro-chipping, hooray! I am a big fan of micro-chipping our beloved companions. Ana Grey has been micro-chipped for a couple of years and Sterling Gris will be chipped next week. An avian veterinarian did my grey. It was done quickly and Ana Grey has never shown any reaction to having a chip. I have such a great sense of relief knowing that I can now easily prove that Ana Grey is mine and no one can question my "ownership". Any veterinarian in the USA will check an animal brought in to them for a micro-chip at no charge.
  6. Marybeth, hi and a big welcome to the Grey Family. I think you will be surprised at how clever our little grey friends can be. Does he have a name yet??? There is oodles of information here at the forum about just about anything you can think of so look around and read, read, read. If you have any questions, just ask. You have come to the right place if you are looking for like people who just love our greys!!! We also love pictures so if you get a chance, please share a looksee at your new sweetie!
  7. Thanks for sharing Paco with us Taylorsdaddy. Please post more about him!!!!
  8. How old is Pancho? Did the pet shop owner know? Perhaps Pancho will come around now. How long have you had him with you? I find that amazons are pretty interesting and I hope you will tell us more about your Pancho.
  9. Chezron, Louie learned to do that all by himself. He loves to be out in the sunshine. Now Ana Grey can shake "hands" on cue which we learned together.
  10. Have you placed posters at the stores and markets in your area? Contacted the nearest veterinarians. I would also place a lost ad in the local newspaper. If he is a friendly grey, he may have found a human when he got hungry. Don't give up!!! Murphy is counting on you to be strong and keep looking. The Greyforum is praying for Murphy and you, you must keep believing. I am.
  11. My fids get a good soaking a couple of times a week. About every 3rd day. If I don't get them all wet, they too will bathe in their water bowls and that is a real soaking mess!!!! LOL!!!!
  12. So glad you all enjoyed the video. Louie is always moving!
  13. What irks me most is being an hour late and no phone to call.
  14. Be strong. When you go out in the morning take Murphy's most favorite foods in something he will recognize, perhaps his food bowl. Use words and calls he will recognize. He is around, just be calm and know he wants to come home. I pray for Murphy to be safe and home safely very soon.
  15. Judy, Sterling is just fine, he has been all cuddly and his same self. He is a very confident guy. He is very mellow and basically just a gentle giant. I've nicknamed him BamBam (remember the adopted little boy of Barney and Betty of the Flintstones?? He was very strong.)
  16. When I got Sterling it was sort of last minute. His origin people had to back out at the last moment. Anyhow, this is what happened this AM. New things for Sterling's cage came in and so I was busy enjoying putting in the rope perch, beaded swing, cement perch, etc. And thank God, I was right there!!! Sterling was climbing around inside his cage and he slipped and his total wing to his body slipped fully in between the bars. He was by the front food bowl so he was "jammed between the corner and the bowl. I had the door open and I was able to quickly reach for him and keep him from falling when he wing was caught at the cross bar. He squawked and bite at me, but I held on so he wouldn't slip and I could figure out how to get him untangled without breaking his wing. I succeeded and Sterling is as good as gold. I hope this never happens again, it has never happened to the other two parrots. To be honest, Sterling is bigger than either Louie or Ana Grey so how did this happen???
  17. 5. Take one lug nut off each wheel to put on the spare in a triangle pattern. Your computer crashes and you can't get on the Greyforum from it. It will take a week for anyone to even be able to check it out for repair. Would you: 1. Throw the junk in the trash and buy a new computer immediately. 2. Go to the local library and use its computers for the week until the repair person can help you. 3. Sneak into the office and use the office computer for the week 4. Go into withdrawal and just pray the Forum doesn't forget you for the whole week!
  18. AGPT, it does take time, persistence and patience to teach your grey/parrot where it is alright for them to light and perch. I have bungees and perches in each room and my parrots know that is where I recommend they land. The perches and bungees are where I take and perch the parrots when I first introduce them to a room. If they do land somewhere I don't what them to be, I remove them and put them in the designated spot. Greys/Zons and parrots in general are very smart and willingly want to be part of the flock. So they do try to do the right thing if you just show them what you expect and what is acceptable. My birdies cock the heads when I talk and really concentrate on what I am saying or trying to show them. They do definitely know the meaning of no, if you are consistent in your directions. They really are like small children wanting to please their parronts. You wouldn't put a one-year old in a room alone and just close the door and walk away, neither can you do this to your parrot. Just like a child they get bored and curious and can get into all finds of mischief!
  19. Love to watch Cocoa. Thank you Sanggay for the flying lesson.
  20. KimmieB, the cargo net is about 5 ft. x 5 ft. It is quite heavy. The rope is very thick. Ana Grey nibbles on the rope and it is still holding up just fine. I have had the cargo net for about 3 years now. All three parrots enjoy sitting on the net.
  21. Shelly, the cargo net is a little large and very heavy, okay it is very large and very heavy!!!! I would have gone with a lighter and shorter one if I could do it over. I actually looked at those outdoor cages at one time Barbara. They are very beautiful! I'm glad everyone really feels for me with my dilemma!!!! LOL!!! There is always an exciting moment or two going on when you are owned by intelligent birdies!!!! Luv my fids!!!
  22. Ray, you are killing me with your sense of humor!!!!! LOL!!!!
  23. Louie is always moving! He has more energy than three parrots!!!
  24. Ray, let's see, there is the jeep, the washer & dryer, and travel cages, and all the stuff that my parrots really, really need. So there is no room for me!!!!!! LOL!!! But thanks for caring!!! LOL!!!
  25. When I go into the bird room they follow me!!!!! LOL!!! I guess I need to get a laptop and go hid in the john with the door locked!!! LOL!!!
