Like all things micro-chipping is a personal choice. I can get my parrots' micro-chips monitors by my avian vet free of charge whenever I want and tumors can be looked for then. As for tumors in people or animals some species are more susceptible than others. One thing of interest is that I found out that my pug had a tumor when I took her in to be micro-chipped. So I find I was fortunate that I chose to micro-chip her when I did. Life is full of should I, could I's and if one of my parrots gets lost or stolen, I want to know I did everything I could to get my companion home. This post is not to start a debate but to share information. Micro-chipping like clipping to me is a personal choice.

My three parrots are flighted and are also micro-chipped. To me micro-chipping is the best way to get your birds back as unfortunately, an escaped parrot/bird is usually found and keep by the finder. If a parrot/bird is micro-chipped its owner can be easily found if the finder will just take the bird/animal to a veterinarian for checking. If the authorities find the parrot/animal they can easily locate the owner if records of residence are maintained. If a micro-chipped animal/bird is keep by a wrongful person, that person can be prosecuted for theft. Let's face it most of our Cags and Tags look alike. I am relieved that I/anyone can identify my parrots from yours. Peace of mind is so worth the money of micro-chipping as I would spend much more to find/get back my flighted friends if necessary.

Hemp seed is also good to help stop plucking. There are some older threads here about it. I know it has helped my neighbor's ekkie who has been a plucker for at least 10 years. Check hemp seed on line.

I have this movie and really enjoyed. I too wish for more parrot movies. We have some really vocal parrots on this forum and very creative parronts. How about a movie or two (hint,hint).

That's a great looking cage. The feeder looks very interesting so I am exciting to hear how it works for you. I only have one parrot who eats with his head right up to his food (my big BamBam) the Cag. My Tag and zon both like to toss their food on the bottom of the cage and I don't see where this freedom feeder would stop that. Looking forward to hearing how this works as I would love to stop the waste/mess!

Be patient, greys are sure worth the wait. It sounds like you have a great breeder who believes in abundance feeding, hooray. My first grey was 4 months 2 weeks old before she came home and my second grey, my Bambam (very big guy) was 5 months old and still nibbling on formula in the evening although he was eating really well on "real" food. So be happy that you have a loving breeder of your sweet grey Bongo. The video was great! Thanks for sharing!

Sounds like perhaps Bodhi is just lonely for human contact. Most greys so love interacting with people. How friendly is Bodhi with other people? Perhaps you could hire a person (young/older) to come and talk/play with Bodhi in another part of your home during the day for a few hours while you work on your book. To me that would be a great solution for both of you.

I have three of the same type cages Judy posted about. They are great! I use them for visiting family and going outside to let the gang sun. I do leave them stacked open in a corner of the birdroom as I live alone and want quick and easy access to them in an emergency.

Since your grey seems attached to your husband perhaps when he goes to work or outside he makes a point of telling Sam that he is going to work/outside and that he will be back. I have always told my parrots when I am leaving the house/room and that I will be back and when I return I make a point of greeting them. They seem to accept and understand my going and coming back now. Perhaps if your husband did something the same, it will help Sam understand that he will be back. A routine will develop that Sam can accept perhaps.
