  1. Congrats! Sounds like Gracie is a good match for you and your family. Can't wait to see her photo
  2. Hi and welcome Yvette! Good luck with your new baby.
  3. Glad to hear the food tossing issue is dwindling down
  4. Hi and welcome! Looking forward to hearing about your new baby's homecoming and seeing pictures when you get a chance. I've never seen a congo/timneh hybrid either
  5. Hi and welcome Gina, Zazu et al! Looking forward to hearing more about you all.
  6. Great pics, thanks for sharing! I wish I had pictures of Morgan right from the egg like that. B)
  7. When Morgan gets too rough when he's playing with me, I treat him like an unruly toddler. I try to redirect him. He has a bunch of toys that are scattered across the house, so something is always close by. I try and get him interested in playing whatever toy I grab first. Sometimes it's rolling a ball across the floor (he likes to chase things, as he sees how much fun the cats have doing it), sometimes it's attacking a dangely bead toy, sometimes it's chasing the cats laser light. Whatever will grab his attention at the time. For him, it works most of the time. When it doesn't work I hand him off to the husband for a bit  Good luck! I hope you find something that works for you both
  8. Hi and welcome Sean! Congrats on your upcoming addition!
  9. Hi Casey and Olivia, welcome! Olivia is a beauty, thanks for sharing. We also have a full house with our tag Morgan, a sun conure, 3 budgies, 2 cats a dog and 2 fresh water tanks. Not many dull (or quiet) moments in our house lol. Looking forward to hearing more about you and Olivia
  10. Morgan shares his house with me and my husband, our sun conure Stewie, our 3 budgies Badger, Scout and Zulu, 2 calico cats, Talvi and Eowyn, our chahuahua/shiz-tsu mix Buster and several hundred fish.
  11. Hi and welcome Wendy! Congrats on your new adition! Can't wait to hear about your girls home coming
  12. Hi and welcome Ina and Charlie!
  13. Hi and welcome! Grats on your upcoming arival! Things to purchase... The largest cage you can afford and accomidate, Food and water dishes, maybe a seperate dish for fresh fruits, veggies and treats, A few perches of varying thickneses and textures, cuttle bone or other source of calcium. All of my birds like this perch that's mango and banana flavored, can't remember what it's called or made from, was in the bird isle of the pet store though, it's edible and they use it to file their nails, groom their beak, eat and itch their heads. Toys toys toys, I'm a fan of rope swings, so I reccomend at least one of those too. As far as toys, my grey likes bells and loves things with ropey fringy things. He likes to preen the fringy bits. He's not much of a chewer yet but he does like those shredders toys. He's not really into his foot toys yet either, but we're working on that and he will nose them around a bit when he feels like it. I'm sure other folks will have other suggestions and advice for starting out.
  14. I don't believe one way is more right than the other. I think, like clipping, it's a personal choiceand that as long as it works for you and your flock it's right. That said, for what it's worth... We don't cover. We go to bed around 10 every night. I'm off to work at 6 and the birds wake up when they feel like it. My husband is home all day with them. I leave them uncovered so they can see me as well as hear me while I'm getting ready for work. I talk to them and tell them why I'm bothering them "just me looking for my shoes" or whatever. I don't want to startle them. Their cages are all on the second floor of our house so they are not bothered by the neighbors dog loose at night, or car headlights. Also, if I sleep in, and they're up before me, they can enjoy the view of the wild birds outside their windows eating out of the bird feeders. So far we're all happy with our choice. Good luck making your choice.
  15. Hi Ccable and Harley! Welcome aboard! All of my birds enjoy tossing their food around. Morgan (my tag) especially, he's made a game of it. Our dog Buster has taken up permanent residence next to Morgans cage. Morgan thinks it's great fun to toss his left-overs out for Buster. Since all of my birds do this, I just keep a dust pan and broom next to their cages. Only our stairs are carpeted, and hard wood and wide pine floors are easy to sweep. Sorry I'm not much help. Good luck with your food tossing though, maybe someone will have some pointers
  16. Morgan does this when I give him blueberry and oat baby food. He also does it when he tries things for the first time.
  17. Howdy Kate and April, welcome to the forum! Looking forward to hearing more about both of you
  18. My husband and I are Everquest 2 addicts. We've been playing the game on the Oasis server (started out on Steamfont before the merger) since it launched about 5 years ago. We currently run our own guild (Fortress of the Dead)and just ended a vacation where one of our guildies from Denmark came out to meet/visit us. I am such a geek that on more occasions than I care to admit I have called my husband by his game name. I've also been known to refered to Antartica as Antonica (an EQ2 zone) :silly: My husband plays a bunch of other games. EQ2 is the only one I play. Anything else just interrupts my time in Norrath
  19. Glad to hear the move went well and that Duke is happy and getting along well with everyone. I hope you find a solution for when you're gone that works well for both of you. Good luck.
  20. Congrats on your new grey! I'm happy to hear that everything worked out well and that she's adjusting well to you and her new home. Can't wait to hear more about her and, of course, see her when you have a chance
  21. Hi Tina, Granite and Ruby, welcome! We've only had our grey a couple weeks but we also have a sun conure who can be incredibly loud. I'm dreading the day Morgan decides our sun's scream is a super fun sound to make.
