ZZero is only 13 weeks and I am amazed at his skills with flight he plays a game flying back and forth between play stand and cage ( about 10 feet) and has mastered landing already. he has spooked a few times and took flight in circles and started landing on my hand when I put it up. My hubby and I started practicing recalls last night and he landed perfect every time. This morning his game was fly to me from his cage so we did this about 10 times all with landing perfect. I know the importance of recall in case something happens and he gets out but am I actually teaching him something bad like reinforcing that he doesn't have to stay where I put him?? How do I teach him to only come when called, is this possible?? also a little P.S we worked on turn around and he learned it very fast I figured he was too young but it actually worked hes so smart <br><br>Post edited by: cflanny, at: 2008/10/07 19:04

Wow thats very cool I got some great advice from that site on the homecoming and introductions and so far it all worked

Do you have him on your shoulder in the mornings?? I would suggest getting little play stands (or just a portable one you can take with you) in rooms which you get ready in this should eliminate the getting on your head and having fights every morning. I am no expert with the dogs I am having my own delima with this I never thought my Shih tzu would go after him but he did the flapping wings brings something out in the dogs, so we are working on it slowly, granted ZZero loves the dogs cause my breeder had dogs but the dogs, not so sure yet. Others with more experience should be along shortly Congrats on your new baby !!

You can wash them with a 10% bleach solution and if you think there are bugs they suggest putting in a air tight bag for 30 days .

My first week has been so exciting !! Zzero has fit right in with our household and is absolutely perfect in every way He is a very outgoing little guy and totally fearless. Our first night started with all the introductions. I set the dogs outside and brought him to the dining room table, the family gathered around and we all sat at the same level and he took turns giving us kisses and playing with each of us. So far I think he knows I am mommy but very much enjoys his time with hubby and son also So FAR SO GOOD! I then let him see his cage which he also loves and brought my dogs in, They are not so sure, much of the time they ignore him but when those wings flap even my Shih Tzu goes on alert. I have been playing a balancing act with the dogs and him this is a time of patience on mine and everybody's part. Zzeros cage is in the very middle of all activity and he has been content with taking his turn in and outta cage and the dogs are dealing with outta house during these times. I have started leashing my dogs and letting Zzero help show them hes part of the family now. All seem content with this balance act so again patience. What I have learned so far, Zzero loves everything but fruit he does not have a taste for sour. He LOVES sweet potato and corn !! We have been experimenting with different foods daily and he is eating up a storm ! Zzero loves water we have showered together and played peekaboo with the water bottle. This is very fun for him and he gets mad at me when its over. Zzero gets very hyper right before bed for about a hour from about 8 to 9 and does circuits either around his cage or flying back and forth between play stand and cage. Zzero is a excellent flier so far and pretty much has made a game of flying back to his cage we have had only one crash and he has taken flight in circles several times a day, he seems to be landing as expected where he wants to. ( dogs are outside during these times so far) Zzero is already trying to talk I have heard a voice here and there rather then just baby noises but of course have no clue what hes trying to say but I listen. Zzero loves when I sing him lullaby's and he will coo all the way threw them. He seems be adapting well and we are having a ton of fun. Our new game is playing peekaboo around the walls. I sneak up around the sides of the cages and say peekaboo and he runs over to each side of the cage trying to catch me. He also like to get under blankets and sheets and hide and poke his head out I say peekaboo, I swear he is laughing . Oh I have been waiting for a update ) I am so glad she meshing and it seems her personality is really starting to bloom. I got my baby on MON and am see big changes dailey but that the fun og it all Hope your suregery is nothing serious and it goes well for you . How many weeks is she now??

HI Yvette, This is a amazing story thank you for getting getting that guy outta there !! Your kind act will pay off for you tenfold and you will have the best relationship with this little guy ! YEA ZZero LOVES LOVES water !! sprayed him yesterday and he had a blast so I took him too the shower perch today while I showered and he had a BLAST!! we then went in the room and I played with the blow dryer which did not scare him so I blew cool air on him on low is this ok ( saw it in a video once) or can it make him sick ?? Water temp?? The water was luke warm that I used ?? OK? Do you towel him off or just let him shake it all off?? How ofton for baths?? He loves to be toweled too lol man I am soo glad I found the best breeder in the world this guy is fearless!!

is this flush beak too cause I notice ZZeros beak is hot when we are relaxing on the couch ??

ok I know Garlic bad but is it ok that he munches on things I season with garlic powder?? Greens of the carrots ?? how do you feed your mash meal of the day with a spoon?? or just in a bowl??

Thank everyone, he already went to the top of that swing scared me so I took the access away till he more nimble Fairy I just went and measured mine was only 10 inches which I think was the size small. We had a hour and half drive home and he did so well in there it had no perch just a towel and he played with the toys I put in there all the way home. When does yours get to come home fairy ??

I am sooo amazed with this little guy, breeder said give him the night and that he probley wont be want to be handled much , YEA right!! he does all kinds of funny stuff for attention already ! He is soo outgoing and is fearless of everything, including the dogs which are not so sure yet . I have been keeping them seperated for now when he has been outta the cage but one wont stop staring at the cage when hes in. But ZZero is eating and drinking and ignoring her. My dog is has a obesesive personality so it will take a few days ( I HOPE) to get used to our new member. The other dogs could care less unless I am feeding ZZero. All is going better then expected and I am so happy to finally have him home!! Heres some pic from last night when we got home.
