T.V

has your grey picked up anything from the TV? tigerlily has learnt to bark from the TV and a few whistles, she has the McDonalds whistle from the end of each advert perfected;) but she hasn't picked up any other sounds or words, not that i particually want her to learn from the TV cause of all the swearing:blush:  but i just wondered if it was harder for them to pick up stuff from the TV
2. ok, so i've been on the internet and looked and looked and looked and cant find what i'm looking for and seeing as you guys are a fountain of knowledge thought i'd ask;) my cat wakes me up almost EVERYTIME she goes in or out the cat flap. it is lockable but she'll keep trying to get through until she forces it open! (but doesn't break it, so much for lockable!) its quite quiet when she pushes her head through but bangs shut behind her. so i'm looking for: a 4 way locking design (not one that needs a magnetic collar) that she can't force open. and a very quiet closing door. do any of you have a catflap that fits those criteria that you would recomend.
3. tigerlily was £1000 from a pet shop but 6 months old, micro chipped, dna sexed, tested for PBFD and chlamydia AND WIRTH EVERY PENNY {Love-0002011D}
4. i get sooo jelous when i hear people saying that their grey loves hugs and head scratches. as tigerlily was 6months old and from a pet shop i've never had that with tigerlily, at times we can spend a few minutes with head and beak rubs so i guess i really apprieciate these more as their so rare. i wouldn't trade tigerlily for the world and love her too bits but i imagine you guys snuggling up to your grey and sigh!
5. she's just turnt 2yrs and YES she is saying oh dear me after each sneeze. i've sent a short clip of her sneezing then saying oh dear me to you've been framed (funny home clips programme) hope they accept it as they pay £250 for every clip they show, but of course, we all know who the money will be spent on:whistle: after all, she is the star;)
6. oh yeah, i forgot to mention that lol the canvas was VERY tight fitting, so tight that the zip pulls apart on one corner and the loop that velcros the window flap on one side was stitched on the wrong way round so i have to twist it. but i was so relieved to get it there was no way i was going through all the hassle of sending it back! just before i did get it through the post i did actually give up hope that i'd get it in time for last christmas as i was planning on taking tigerlily to my cousins for a few nights so i brought a bigger travel cage from a local pet shop which measures in at 45x45x70cms with an open play top which is JUST small enough to fit in my car to use as a carry cage for long peroids but way to big to carry over long distances. i'm going camping with tigerlily next month and taking BOTH cages, the adventure pack will be used for taking her to the beach and on walks so at the moment i'm still happy i got the adventure pack, but for how much longer i'm not sureB)
7. yes i can see what the others are saying about the damage your grey can do, tigerlily has often bitten quite hard on my lip and got close to my eye but........ I WOULDN'T GIVE UP OUR KISSING SESSIONS FOR ANYTHING its something we both love but it is closed lips only, she doesn't go inside my mouth.
8. hi. i purchased my adventure pack from flying south and must admit i started to think i had been scammed. i can't remember when i ordered it (last year sometime) but it was just before the new stock was due to arrive. when that date came they posted on their web page that there was delays in shipping and gave a new date, that date came and went so they posted again that there were delays in shipping and posted a new date. this went on and on. i did send them an email asking when it was going to arrive but in all honesty i can't remember their replies but..... finally it DID arrive about 6 months after i'd ordered and paid for it and tigerlily is slowly working her way through it chewing all the fabric (they didn't think of curious greys that chew everything when they designed it!)

Post edited by: Tigerlily, at: 2009/07/13 23:06
9. hi brian. i agree with the fact that greys should be flighted and dream of the day when tigerlily will be able to fly outside but i'm afraid to say that a dream is all it's going to be in my case. i brought the avaitor harness as it's the only one that allows flight and many members on here have had huge success with it. however i think i left my training too late (i think she was around 1yr old when i started) the 1st time i tried i forced it on her and succeeded but got terrified when she started screaming and going crazy trying to get it off. i thought she was going to do herself some real damage and i too had a chunk off my finger quickly trying to get it off her. after that i took it at her pace, slowly getting closer and closer to her with it which took months. i got as far as tigerlily taking a monkey nut from me by having to touch her head with the strap but that was as far as we got. i consaulted my vet who said that she didn't think it was worth ruining our bond by trying to force the harness on her and now she still goes outside on sunny days but in a cage instead. i would love to see her flying around but a harness isn't for every bird and like your grey, she flies around the flat and on the whole is a pretty well ajusted bird so so we've given up on the whole harness thing. some others will be able to give you some more positive feed back i'm sure but don't make the same mistake as i did and ruch your grey into it. he'll let you know when he's ready!
10. they mimic in your voice. so i'm glad i got a girl as a boy talking in my voice doesn't fit right lol. although tigerlily does sometimes say hello like my dad
11. yep i agree with the others, that's one lucky grey. i long for something like that for tigerlily but i have no garden:(
12. you're gonna get board of us both now that i've finally got on you tube and that tigerlily is no longer camera shy. but if i have to listen to her all day then so do you guys:P
13. at the risk of asking a silly question...... have you tried just opening the cage door for him, if he wants you that much sounds odd that he wont follow you out! but i guess thats the problem your trying to solve?
14. Whats the rush? if he was cage bound for the 1st 5yrs then he's obviously going to be petrified of comming out. i'm no expert as i've not had this problem but the way i see it if he doesn't want to come out don't force him. obviously it would be great to see him out his cage but whose benefit would it be for, his or yours? the way i see it, if you keep his cage open whenever your there with his favourite stuff just outside it, one day curiosity might get the better of him and come out of his own free will. i'f there's one thing i learnt very quickly is that i can't force tigerlily to do anything, it has to be on her terms otherwise it damages our relationship, she gets stressed out and i blead to death;) if he's healthy and happy in his cage, open the door but leave him be to take things at his own pace.
15. well, do they? it must b tiring being on your feet day in and day out, let alone sleeping on your feet! but i've never seen a grey sitting down
16. the joys of living with a flighted bid lol:lol:

19. i hope this link works lol. what i found most fasinating wasn't the fact that the cockatoo got out but the fact that those birds were in the same cage in the first place!
20. yeah, we'll ambush them, anyone else wanna email them lol. even if they only did a bigger version of their orbiter i'd be happy;)
21. northern parrots reply: Thank you for your email. I have forwarded your email to our Managing Director as I do not know what items we are planning to supply in the future. maybe there's hope for us brits yet:P
22. copy of an email i sent to northern parrots: hi. i am a great fan of your products, infact buy ALL my parrot gear from yourselves. i also use a grey forum online which has also been a valuable sorce of information for me. a thread that was started is the reason i'm writing to you. it was asked if there were any suppliers of the parrot "atom" in the uk. i too have been looking and unfortunatly i can't seem to find one here in the uk, the only suppliers being "mother plucking' bird toys" from the u.s and cost a fortune! i recently purchased the orbiter from yourselves knowing it was too small for what i wanted but a step in the right direction and was wondering if the "atom" would be something you would be able to supply as i'm sure there are others out there looking too. many thanks elaine webb p.s congragulations on your expantion and move, just a shame you didn't move to bristol lol. ;) ;) i'll let you know their answer;)
23. i can't believe this thread has popped up again. i posted it almost a year ago lol:laugh:

Post edited by: Tigerlily, at: 2009/07/10 09:19
