I dont use the grate as When i first got tigerlily she fell off her pearch a few times and also forrages at the bottom sometimes and easier to clean without grate. i guess i can but give it a go and leave tigerlily to be the judge of whether its any good or not:)

I've been using the "back to nature small animal litter" to line the bottom of the cage as it was what the pet shop was using and find it very good. but typically it seems like the two shops that sell it near me have stopped selling the large sacks and the other sizes really arent worth bothering with. my question is is newspaper REALLY the best alternative as i've just read some other threads that mentioned risks of it getting wet and i've just linned the cage and it doesn't LOOK that great either;)

Tigerlily also HATED water when i got her. although all methods of trying to wash her traumatised her, the least traumatic was the spray. she now accepts it although doesn't perticularly enjoy it. to begin with i only sprayed her once or twice then gave her her favourite food as a reward even if she flew away or i missed (monkey nut or grape) then i sprayed her a few more times before rewarding her. even if she flew away i'd still spray her once or twice more. now she will stay put most of the time whilst i spray her eagerly waiting her reward even if sometimes she just chucks it straight on the floor. it took a few months to get her to this stage but i persisted as it's real important.

i can gaurantee that the two half red greys are real but not sure about the completley red one. It sometimes happens in baby greys and some people reckon its what they're fed that makes this happen. anyway, they loose the red after their first mault;)

She's nearly 15 months old and i've had her since mid december. and although she pushes me to my limits sometimes, she remindes me daily why I love her so much and just how gorgeous she is.

that is soooo cute. hopefully i'll be able to save enough money and be able to afford another grey, either that or a dog and at the moment another grey is winningB)

Sorry to keep going on about this but Tigerlilies beak is worrying me again. A part of the top layer looks like it has chipped off and her beak is now looking really messy.

So. Sparky is sat on my lap purring away then Tigerlily decides that Sparky doesn't deserve all the attention so swoops down onto the sofa (where she's not allowed as she chews it) and scares Sparky away. Sparky decides to take refuge ontop of the piano outta harms way and makes herself comfortable. THEN....... Tigerlily decides to chase her off there aswell. Poor Sparky, good job that from day one she decided that Tigerlily wasn't a bird to be messed with!

Post edited by: Tigerlily, at: 2008/08/29 20:59

Who does your grey share it's house with? Tigerlily shares it with just myself and sparky the cat.
-
tigerlily also drops the "H" in "come here" lol also calls herself "maddam" says "stop it" "naughty" "get down" "no" "what do you think you're doing" etc but on the other hand she also says "good girl", "hello gorgous", "your gorgous", "hello babe", "good morning", "give me a kiss", "i love you" "allright babe" and bearing in mind that i live alone she also lets of these allmighty burps:whistle:

yes i buy my stuff from 24parrot (also known as northan parrots) i've only had one item not turn up, they said they sent it but i never got it so still waiting for them to send it again. but on the whole quite happy with them, as is tigerlily. i have been thinking about getting another grey;) to do so i'd have to get a double cage and would get a baby this time but apart from prob taking me years to save up (no good at saving;) ) i've decided to wait till tigerlilies about 2yrs so she'd then be totally devoted to me and i'd know if i'm totally devoted to tigerlily. i took tigerlily to the vets for a check up the same week i brought her home, the vet asked if i've been wanting a grey for a long time, i didn't feel brave enough to tell her it'd only been about a month i'd been thinking about getting one:lol:
-
yep. if i don't want tigerlily sharing my food she has to go in her cage. but 99% of the time she nicks my food. i'm trying to teach her to learn to stay on her perch which i pull up next to me whilst eating and wait for me to give her the food, that way i can at least get some peace whilst eating B)
-
well tigerlily liked the rawhide and i've just brought her some baby food, which supprisingly doesn't taste too bad:lol: she tried a chicken one but wasn't too interested. which flavour does your grey like?
-
thanks everyone. i'm sure tigerlily will appreciate your replies. baby food is now on the shopping list
-
is gentle, relaxing music at night a good idea or do greys need total silence to get a good nights sleep?
-
this question has probably allready been asked but couldn't find it so sorry if i repeat! Is feeding Tigerlily baby food, the human kind, a good idea?
-
After reading this thread I decided to get my grey some rawhide to. of cause she flew away from it at first so i had to spend 5 minutes PRETENDING to eat it myself and sound like i was enjoying it before tigerlily got stuck in! no about to soak it so i can tie it to the cage!

Thought it'd get you all going lol {Feel-good-0002006E}
