Welcome to the boards! I wish I had the musical talent to be able to teach scales without the use of my computer. :pinch: I don't bring Loki home until Sept 9th, I can't wait!

Oh I know, I used to play America's Army a few years back, all mouse and keyboard. Halo took me about a month to get better at. Just need to find the sensitiviy you like and ... yeah
-
I'm going the cheap route for a "companion" for my companion . Radio and 2 Lava lamps on timers. Visual and Audio stimuli for a couple hours while Both Kim and I are working. None need to be fed, showered, taken to the vet... etc etc
-
Na, it's sad cause I know it from playing Halo. I actually hadn't played in a week or 2, but hearing it on your video made me want to   hehe.

I was origionally concerned with Loki being alone as well, I actually spent some time making a chart to see how much time Loki will be alone at any given time. Both Kim and I work, Kim on a 11-13 week rotation that goes all over the place like 2 days on (12 hours shifts) - 2 days off - 2 days on (12's) - 3 days off .. etc. I myself have Tuesday and Thursdays off, with the options on getting time and a half if I want to work Sundays. well, actually, I can make it easier then explaining it, I made a picture of 5 sample weeks of Kims rotation. 2 of her 2 on, 2 off, 3 on etc. and 1 week of each of her other 2 week stints. to see how many hours Loki will be alone at any given time. http://i327.photobucket.com/albums/k470/lokicag/LokisSchedualimage.jpg We plan on using a couple lava lamps (way cheaper then a companion bird for our companion .. bird  ... or cheaper then a fish tank ) and a small radio, all on timers, to keep him company while we're working. At the longest, Loki will be alone for 10 hours, 2 times a week. And once a week both Kim and I will be home together with him.

Debating on remaking a guns and roses song myself: "Take me down to a Parrot-ized city, where the toys are cheap and the birds are pretty, oh won't you please take me home." I have patience to try .. Just got to get him used to calling his cage a "City" first .. Other then that, I can do a lot of impersonations. I plan on trying: "Get to da Choppa!" - Schwarzenegger "Well Hello Mrs. Moneypenny" - Connery "Well that's just bloody great" - Connery "Gobby, put Mr. Flintstone down" - Frank Frankenstone I can do a lot of other voices too, but those are some of my favorites. Oh, and of course, being a Canadian, I will have to teach Loki to whistle the Hockey Night in Canada theme song. As well as chant "Go Leafs Go" Ah, only 1 more month until he comes home ... I can't wait.
-
Sounds .... tasty ... I'll have to go ... buy some ... /end sarcasm  I have a very sensitive sense of smell ... I just don't think I could ... ever .. try those lol.

New pictures of Loki - 8 weeks old ... and clean!
Broomer replied to Broomer's topic in Photography & Video Room
I brought it up to her last week actually. She said the reason he was so messy was that he was kept with his brothers and sisters. She did clean them up while she fed them, but after she was done she couldn't control what he and his Bro's/Sis's did when she was off feeding her other birds. And since they like to regurgitate and be all-round messy when by themselves, she just couldn't keep up. Now however, they've all been moved into a weaning cage and will be getting at least 2 showers a week. We got there today about 15 minutes after she dried them off. Pity, I would have loved to seen him look like a drowned rat hehe. -

Here are a few new Pictures of Loki! He's been moved into a weaning cage with his Brothers/Sisters, and just had a bath before we got there! He wasn't as active as last week, but hey, a bath is tramatizing to any 8 week old :silly: He's already begun defying gravity... He was tired after a long afternoon of scritches and a bath. Tail feathers are growing quick! You are getting sleeeeeepy. I think he likes the camera.... or wants to eat it. And last but not least, him posing for the camera. -
Well, checked everything I needed to check, and all is a go for making this bad-boy. Just finished sending in the order for the fittings a few minutes ago. Lets hope I have the same number of fingers after the stand is together, that I have right now ... 11 wait ... :silly:

This will be interesting for Kim and I, Kim works late nights normaly, sometimes until 3am. We're both nighthawks, so we tend to be up until 4-5am because of Kim's schedual sometimes. Also, the only place for us to put our cage is in the Livingroom where the TV is, something we both watch avidly. We also have no room for a sleeping cage anywhere else that would be undisturbed for 10-12 hours. The joy of Condo living. :pinch: I was debating buying some wireless headphones for the TV, so we don't disturb him. I wonder if Loki will adapt to our sleeping shedual, or we'll adapt to his and be really really quiet. Which would be a definite change for me, Lord of the Blabbler-mouths :silly:

There, I edited the topic title hehe, to cause less crest-fallen replies hehe.

Hello everyone, Just thought I'd throw this out there incase any of you might know. Kim is heading down to Niagra Falls next weeked to visit the in-laws, I'm stuck working and am unable to go .. I am so unhappy ... I don't get to see the inlaws ... /end sarcasm Well my question to any of you who know the area, at least on the american side, is do you know of any good pet stores that have a good birdy section near Niagra New York? The last time we were down we found stuff at nearly half the price, for certain toys, that and well, we can not seem to find a Boing anywhere in our area. Any tips would be greatly appreciated. Thanks from both Kim and I, and Loki, though he doesn't know it yet hehe. Bryan. (((edited the topic  )))

Post edited by: Broomer, at: 2008/08/02 07:24

Canadian bird store? *faints* hehe. I'd fill out the survey Just let me know when Fids R Us is ready to go hehe.

I found them online actually, in Ohio, but they're half the price of anywhere else. Do you know the phone # of that store though? Perhaps I can call them and check their prices too. Or where they get them from.

Ok, did some more math (if you haven't figured out, this is like a second hard copy on here lol, incase something happens :silly: ) I figured out how many cuts I have to do total, and how many of each length. PVC lengths: 22 28": 15 (these are all the horizontal bars) 37 7/16": 4 15 1/2": 2 39 5/8": 1 (across the top) The good thing is, my total length estimation went from 67 feet, to 54. I figured a couple bars that I just don't need on there. Now I can cut the PVC up in the Home Depot parking lot, and not have to do it in here... and avoid the dust hehe. I just love the fact that I have 36 connectors, but only 22 cuts hehe. Thank god for those Slip-Tee fittings hehe. Going to order the parts soon, should start assembly in a few weeks. I want to have it done before Loki comes home on Sept 9th (or 15th depending), so that way it's here, and it will be part of the environment.

Post edited by: Broomer, at: 2008/08/01 05:27

That 51.50 of course does not including shipping, but I don't see it being more then $15 for shipping, which would still make this stand cheaper. B)

Hmm, ok, found a place online (finally) http://www.usphome.com/catalog/category.asp?catalog%5Fname=USPlastic&category%5Fname=29917&Page=1 They classify it as "Dog Agility/Furniture" pipe fittings. Price is cheaper then anything I've seen by almost half. I've added everything I need to a cart, plus 2 extra of each fitting (I know myself a wee bit too well. ), and it's $51.50, the rope I've figured will cost 40$, The Flexible piping: $11, and the 70' of PVC piping will cost about 60$ ... not including the screws and Vetwrap, my total is down from $300, to $165 ... MUCH more managable. That and we visited a few more of the pet stores in the area, the pre-made stnads were so BORING, and were $180+ each. Looks like I'm building it afterall! I wonder if I can convince the hospital to hold a room open for me ... hehe :silly:

Ok, 10+ hours of searching online for a local store that has a catalog online that has what I need, it's just not happening ... {Feel-bad-00020066} Now to start phoning the local places and harrassing them! {Feel-good-0002006E} Phoning is far more fun...

Hmm, I'll keep them in mind. Also, if it says slip, shouldn't that work too? The other forms are threaded. The pictures don't exactly show if it goes all the way through straight, but if it does, that would work exactly the same as the ones I showed. slide it on, and 1 screw to hold it on. Again, I haven't looked at them in person yet, so I haven't a clue if you can do that hehe.
