Moody Grey

Hi, She is eating and drinking well and looks well hence why its so puzzling?! There has been no change in her environment at all. Do greys have off days like humans? Nims
4. Hi, I have a 6 month old female CAG Indy. Like most greys she too has an attitude bit recently she has become a little distant. When she is in her cage she faces the opposite way, doesnt want to play (I have ordered some new toys also!) and is generally moody. Any advice welcome! Thanks Nims
5. Indy is 6 months old and I can only hear a garbled hello. Lets hope she picks up some more words and phrases.
6. Indy doesnt like cold food so I dont think she will ike ice cream. She would rather have a grape or pecan nuts!

Curry?!

Hi, Being Indian we make lots of fresh home made vegetarian currys and I'm not talking about the creamy or oily stuff. I know what the safe foods to use and the currys we make are not spicey but are made with spices such as mustard seeds, cumin, tumeric and coriander. The spices are then tempered to release the flavours in a bit of sunflower oil. Would something like this be safe for Indy? As mentioned in another post my grandparents had a indian ringed necked parrot who liked nothing better than dahl and rice! Thanks Nims PS - Sorry but this post should be in the bird food room accidently posted it here!

Post edited by: nims, at: 2008/08/26 21:11

17. Did you know that in the wild African Greys can cover great distances and fly up to 40mph!!!B) Nims
18. Lol No way! Indy has only beaked my nose and nipped it once (she lost balance!) Nims
19. Hi Baxtersmom, Im glad Baxter is enjoying flying and is a shame that he was cagebound for so long. Birds are born fly! I think they really enjoy flying not to mention that it's great exercise for them. Indy is a baby grey and it took a while for her to find her feet and wings when she flew. The breathing thing is normal Indy does a few circles in our living room and you can hear her breathing (their muscles arent as developed as wild birds and can only fly short distances because they are captive) Encourage baxter as much as possible and it does build their confidence up also. After more flying he will learn to land more gracefully. Indy flys first and and then scrambles somewhere to land!! Try making it fun for him and offer him treats if he flies and lands well or flies to you. Good Luck! Nims

Hi, Yes plucking is also my greatest fear! I have been home for two months and will be going back to work also. Im hoping the changes will not be too traumatic for her Indy is still a baby at 6 months so hopefully will be accepting of the changes. Nims
