I think you are doing great so far however you need be confident around your bird as they can sense these things. Sometimes they need to be taught how to play so keep doing what your doing. Welcome and good luck with Brodie. Im glad you took on an older grey. I too am thinking about adopting another bird. Nims

Its fine that he's out most of the day but Im sure there will come a day when you will not be home and he will have to be in the cage all day. I think you shoud play with him when he is in the cage and play with the toys with him (sometimes you have to teach them). Good Luck Nims

She does have quite a varied diet with oatmeal, pellets and fresh veg. Though she is pretty active as she is out of her cage most part of the day and she flys alot too. Thanks Nims

Hi, My CAG indy is a little bit on the skinny side (400g) and I would like to see her put on a bit of weight she has also lost 10g since we got her so I am a little worried. She eats and plays well but would like her to be a little bigger......is there anything I can do to help her put on sum extra grams? Thanks Nims:)

Hello D4NGEROUS, I look forward to hearing more about your adventures with Mittu. You said he's two how long have you had him for? Welcome Thanks Nims

I must agree with the other members it is totally irresponsible for the breed to sell his babies at such a young age and are unweaned. It could be dangerous if you have no or little experience with handfeeding a bird this young. It doesnt sound like you have a reputable breeder, have visited the baby grey and met the breeder? I bought my baby home 3 months ago and did 5 months solid research and spoke to many breeders to make sure my baby would be happy and healthy when it came home. As Tracy pointed out it is illegal to sell unweaned babies in the UK. Nims

OK so its been a few days since little Indy had had a fright she seems to be OK now but is still a little wary she will not let me touch her head area but everyelse is OK. My husband is not affected (she loves him......not fair:angry: ). She is stepping up fine and taking treats and eating well. She will even cuddle up in my lap. Progress is good so far.......thanks for all your advice

My CAG indy also has some red colouration on the ends of her feathers mainly near her chest, underside and leg area. She is only six months old and will probably have her first moult in the next 6 months or so. Nims

I put the vid on and Indy was trying to lick/kiss the baby! Cute

I always have their pellets and fresh water in their cage. I do give her treats in form of nuts and seeds. I give her breakfast (oatmeal with baby food or banana or honey) in the morning and then mixed veg in the evening. Nims

I think she may have had a night fright though I am not fully sure if she was sleeping. I am really upset as we were very close and now she wont even come anywhere near me. Nothing in the room has changed if anything its a bit cleaner!I am planning to leave a small night light on now hoping she this will not happen again. How do I go about dealing with Indy and re-establishing our bond? Thanks Nims

My 6month old CAG indy will not go anywhere near me since last nite. Something scared her at night and I let her out and she was flying frantically around our room until she crash landed on the floor I managed to sccop her up and put her to bed. She even slept at the bottom of her cage. I am really worried about her. I have to bribe her to step up otherwise she will bite......i dont know what to do! Nims

My CAG is also not a big drinker either as they get their water from fruits and veg as judy rightly said. Mine also likes a drink just after she has being flying a lot! Nims

I use newspaper (its cheap!) a grate is always good for your bird as it stops them rolling around in their own muck! I have a grate and then newspaper underneath. I would also suggest getting natura branches or perches with different textures. I have a wide range as it keeps their feet in good condition as BMustee said keep away from the smooth dowels and plastic perches. Nims

hmmmmmmmm I would say its a good idea but you never know how Gizmo would react. Most parents have difficulty getting their grey to have a bath......myself included!! I would say give im a little misting and see how he reacts. The only reason I would be concerned would be that he is in a new environment with a new owner and he doesnt need to be scared or frightened at this stage. If he is OK with it you can carry on misting.........if not I would wait. Make sure you give him plenty of treats though! Good Luck Nims

I have to agree with Judygram on this. You may need to change the where you locate the perches. Make sure they are close to the bottom of the cage so there isnt a big fall if he fall off his perch. I changed my cage settings quite a few times to get it just right. Nims

Hi, When does Talon fly away is it when you get close to the cage? You said you have tried gripping the feet but have you tried putting your hand on Talon's back as you put her in the cage. Give her a treat as you walking to her cage and make sure she is not facing the cage as you approach the cage place your other hand firmly on her back as you place her in favourite area. Hope this works if you havent tried it already! Good Luck Nims

Hi, I tried everthing with my CAG Indy but no matter what we did she would squak the house down. I then filled up the bath tub a few inches and put her and she started to wade in it. She didn enjoy it but she didnt object either which was great. I am hoping to introduce toys and rewards for bath time as I want her to enjoy it. Nims

Same things happend to my CAG! I wouldnt worry about it too much. Nims

Hi, My CAG indy has mineral (bottled water) and I keep it at room temperature. My CAG doesnt like cold water! See what Gizmo prefers but I would definately recommend bottled or filtered water. Nims

When I bought Indy home it was quite late at night. My advice would be to try and get the cage set up before her arrival. Then she/he will then have an option if she/he wants to come out of the carrier or stay in. I was able to handle Indy on the first night but we didnt really do much with her. I put her in the cage and covered it up partially. She was quite nervous but I just gave her her space.
