Chloe doesn't do harnesses she hates them and they freak her out. I've only had her lose her balance one time on my shoulder arm or any other body part. She hovers very well for a clipped bird and when she's on a surface she could potentially get hurt on I cup my hand around her body for extra balance and support so she never worries about falling. And when in the house she flies off her living room perch at least 10 times a day and does a belly flop onto the couch and lands perfectly. I know there breastbone thing is weak but my couch is super puffy micro fiber so she is fine.

My newest and best picture of chloe titled "The Noble parrot" taken on my room mates shoulder during a walk on a trail through some park. She was having a blast and looking sexy so my room mates girlfriend snapped this photo of her -enjoy-!

I know this isn't really an eye shot, but someone took this picture of Chloe on my room mates shoulder and I think this would be a great "model" type picture for some kind of parrot food or something. It's one of my fav's.... the title for this picture is "The Noble Parrot"

Post edited by: Knight05, at: 2008/05/01 21:32

Which contest where? -
I took photos of chloe's face for visual refrence. I'm curious if this is normal coloration for CAG female to have a pinkish face or if it's skin irritation. I can't tell as a new owner so hopefully someone can shed some light on the subject.

In regards to food stealing I think parrots are worse than dogs. I was eating a big mac the other day and everytime I leaned into take a bite chloe would start eating my big mac the same time as me. Ok I'll give her that one on animal instinct. The other night I made dinner and put it on the kitchen counter. Then the phone rang. Somehow she flew from her perch half way to the counter then did a spiderman manuever up my chair onto the counter and when I came back in she was eating my corn and some of my potato's and knocked over the tobassco sauce and my plate looked like a murder scene! Obviously the fix is put her away during dinner time, but I was just wondering if anyone else's parrot out there was a food burglar? And if so, to the extent that they will fly, crawl up stuff, or manuever around an entire room just to eat what you have.

I guess I'm guilty as charged as bad foods go, but I'm a first time parrot owner and some what clueless so for the 1st month or so I experimented with like everything known to man minus the dangerous stuff to see what she enjoyed most.

I couldn't find any info on what an ideal parrot's weight should be around 1 yr old. Chloe is like anti every food that isn't bad for her. She won't eat oatmeal or frush fruits and nuts. I have her a bowl of mixed berries once and she just ripped it to shreds and tossed it on the carpet. I've tried harrison and other protein type nuggets. I've tried limiting her food amount in the evening/night so she would be hungry in the morning and be more open to other foods and NOPE no-go. Basically if it isn't fatty, unhealthy, or loaded with salt cheese or something else bad she won't eat it. What else could I do at this point? I even eat stuff in front of her to show her its tastey and she tries it then but goes OMG you lied to me! And spits it back out. Should I call jenny craig and ask if they accept parrots? Also how does a bird keep the weight down normally if they are clipped? Seem like if they can't fly and burn calories they just kind of pack it on? *P.S. I forgot to add she is currently on a Supreme parrot fruit/nut seed mix. It's most every type of seed you can think of with dried banana and other fruits etc etc.

Post edited by: Knight05, at: 2008/04/25 16:11

Must be a good dream the kind that knocks him off his feet  sorry bad joke, your case sounds special but to all those who have replied about my problem thx. Chloe growing her toe nails back has increased her balance signifcantly already. She still flaps and gets off balance if I move too fast but rarely falls now. I do agree I think she got a bad clipping and she's just going to have to tough it out until her first molt then i think all out problems will be solved.

yup she was/is a sexy beast, thx for copying I missed seeing this thread

First I'll swallow this pizza then I will swallow your soul says demonic chloe! Mmmmm pizza time! I only gave her a little since she has a major cheese fetish Nice bowl of breakfast meat cereal mmmm After breakfast comes the daily tan routine. Chloe says "Hey wait a minute this spot looks to clean, perhaps I didn't poop here yet, well I suppose I can fix that problem!!" When chloe isn't destroying things she serves as my personal bouncer for the jacuzzi and legendary "guard parrot" My room mate danny why this pic? Just because... Baby pic of chloe at 6 weeks I believe??

Post edited by: Knight05, at: 2008/04/24 13:56

I am a San Diego county police officer, and I also have about 6-10 clients that I do personal training with on the side. Long hours but good money, sort of.

I usually take chloe with me and my roomie down to the jacuzzi and perch her on the beach chair things. She likes the steam and was freaked out the first time by being outside (predators etc) but now she seems ok with it. Obviously chlorine is bad for her to drink but if some droplets got splashed on her or vapors from the jacuzzi itself is that bad like life threatening toxic type bad?

Here's a youtube video of chloe doing random stuff, my editing sucks but my first time so bare with me. Enjoy! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W0JfpeLfGFE
