LOL!! Yes he is actually 110!! Its hard to believe I know but I actually did see the paperwork on him...I was just as shocked as you all are! He is a cool old man too!! But yeah he eats nothing but seeds and peppers!
-
Another thing you could try is www.birdsnways.com and look under breeders, just hit O for Ohio and there should be some listed there!! Good luck!
-
Ok all here is something fun, please feel free to add to it!! You know your a bird person when: When you judge all household items by "bird toy potential" you have more pictures of your bird in your wallet than you have pictures of other family members. when the Avian Vet has your credit card number memorized. You eat a chocolate bar in the closet so the birds don't feel left out.

Redneck Humor A Redneck and his Dog; One hot summer day, a redneck came to town with his dog, tied it under the shade of a tree, and headed into the bar for a cold one. Twenty minutes later, a policeman entered the bar and asked, 'Who owns the dog tied under that tree outside?' The redneck said it was his. 'Your dog seems to be in heat' the officer said. The redneck replied, 'No way. She's cool 'cause she's tied up under that shade tree.' The policeman said, 'No! You don't understand. Your dog needs to be bred.' 'No way,' sa id the redneck. 'That dog don't need bread. She ain't hungry 'cause I fed her this mornin'.' The exasperated policeman said, 'NO! You don't understand; your dog wants to have sex!' (You gotta love this) The redneck looked at the cop and said, 'Well, go ahead. I always wanted a police dog.'

TerriW welcome!! I have noticed the same thing and im sure its normal. I think its just a thing thye do while relazing and sitting around, Ive noticed that right after one of mine do this that they then give their featers a good shake to kind of put them back how they need to be. Im not sure the exact reasoning for it but I think I will try to do a little research on it:)

Oh poor baby!! I also suggest a vet check, if it is a beak injury they can be so serious! Goodluck and keep us posted!

Fawkes talks the most if she is in her cage with the door closed...so when I feel like making a video of her talking I put her in, close the door and leave the room. Usually by the time I close the door to my room she is talking!! She is such a goof!!

Two feedings a day should be fine for now but in another week or 2 I think I would go down to one and start to introduce MANY types of fresh foods as well as pellets and some seed. However I would offer seed last because they will tend to pick seed over anything else and then it will be hard to get him to eat the other options. Never force ween though, they will probbaly call for formula for a while yet, they all ween at their own pace. Even after you think he is fully weaned please monitor his weight to make sure that he is eating enough, his weight will drop some during weaning but if there is a big drop then he will still need to be hand feed a little more yet. Just a few suggestions for you and your beautiful baby!! Good luck and congrats!!

I have a Brown-headed parrot that is potty trained....but backwards. He will not go in his cage!! I have to take him either out of it or off of the top several times a day so he can go! He will then wait until I get over a newspaper or the trash before he goes and he wont usually do it until i say "ok do it" then he goes and happily goes back to whatever he was doing!

Is she actually pulling them out or are they falling out? Or even coming out as she preens? Just asking to make sure its not a start to plucking...but at 18 months old then yes it sounds like she is going through a molt, she is ald enough now and its right about the perfect time.
-
She looks great!! I bet the improvemnets in diet really made a big difference! I know that with my gold-capped conure Titus, the changes in his diet since I got him from the rescue have drastically improved his feathers and his color. He isnt a plucker but he had very ratty feathers and pretty dull colors compared to now! He just finished his first molt since being with me and his feathers are perfect and shiny and his colors are soo bright!!! So a good diet can really help in a lot of ways!! I also feed him plain yougurt, but I bake with it too. I add it in things like muffins and birdie pancakes (small amounts so it doesnt really change the recipe)and they love it! Another thing I do that seems to help is add cayenne pepper to things such as noodles, rice and beans. They love it!! Fawkes my CAG loves anything spicy and actually I sprinkle cayenne on her pellets too. Sorry for rammbling!! :woohoo:
