I do not have a meyers but I do have a Brown-headed parrot, wich belongs to the poi family too. All I can say about Kanye is AWWWW! I love him and he loves me...as long as I know when hes in a bad mood then I will not get bit! I love the poi family and someday would love to let a meyers own me!!!

I would sugest not doing the boot camp thing at all! He will not respond the way you want to that! That will most likely make him more aggresive and then he really will end up hating you....Im not trying to be rude. I have a 22 year old Amazon who was in one home his whole life until a few months ago and was only handled by one person that whole time. He is responding well to A TON of patience and treat sneeking. I know that if we were to just grab him by force we would be missing a lot of skin! Also if you decide to grab him by force and it doesnt work out your way and you then decide to rehome him...this would create an even harder to handle bird for the next owner. Not to mention the stress this would put on your grey...Greys are highly sensitive and intelligent birds, they demand respect and do things the way they want to. No amount of FORCE from you ar anybody else will help his behavior. I promise you if you boot camp him he will get worse and probably hate you for it. You could also cause him to start plucking and all kinds of other behavioral issues. Birds take time, patience and LOTS more patience. Gentle handling and proper understanding! Take this post how you will...but know that it was not meant to be rude or mean in any way! Just do your research and try the patience thing it pays off. It could take years instead of weeks for your bird to trust you...and it may never trust you at all. that just comes with the territory of being a bird owner. Good luck!

I recently adopted a four year old CAG named Fawkes, she has been with me for exactly one week today and she is wonderful!!! I have several videos of her talking on youtube, she loves to be with us and well basically just loves life!!! She has learned a couple new things already since being here too!!! Good luck with your decision!

Here is Pocco my DYH Amazons home made PVC play gym. He is not caged and is on this all the time (his previous owner has had him like that for 20 years)!

I believe that the coloration stay with them through adulthood too. Though I am not positve. I just love them all!!! YW Connie;)

Hi all and thanks for the welcome!!! My greys name is Fawkes, she is wonderful!! I also have 2 amazons, a red-lored named Aries and a DYH/Tres Maria named Pocco. Then There is Kanye my brown-headed parrot, Titus my gold-capped conure, Truman my Waglers conure, Millie the quaker, Carter my wild caught Mitred conure, 4 budgies(Sirius,Doby,Widgie,Hagrid), 5 lovebirds(Hawk,Rosie,Gumby,Nena,Monkey), 2 ringneck doves(peace and harmony), 5 finches(Jade, houdini, 3 need names yet), and 2 canaries(Fred and ginger)!! Oh and a 16 year old cockatiel named Joey. HAHA!!! I beliee thats all!!! :blink: I will post a picture of Fawkes in a little while here.

Maybe try ignoring it...like everytime she does it walk out of the room. Without saying anything to her at all, sounds like she took the NO as something that just got her more attention.
