Aww cute story!! They do just seem to have minds of their own!! Fawkes changes everything to suit herself better!! HAHA!! I can't think of any one thing right this minute but I KNOW there are some things she says like that!!

I use poop-off, vinegar and water, and maybe a little dish soap. I Really like the vinegar for the glass on the finch and canary aviary, it does wonderful! I use the dish soap on the play stnads and poop-off on cages. I like to switch it up becuase I wonder if like humans that use to much anti-bacterial soaps and what not...if you always use the same one will the surfaces become to immune or used to that anti-bacterial for it to be effective? I can't be suure and I can't take chances so I just switch between the 3 things!

I just remembereed that its not a lack of calcium that causes the white toes on greys, however they think it might be part of a pied mutation. Though they say it may be nothing too. Just a different color!! LOL! just wanted to correct myself!

I named Fawkes after Albus Dumbledore's Pheonix in Harry Potter!!! Since a pheonix would burn and then rise again from the ashes, her red tail is for the fire and the grey is for the ashes! I love Harry Potter books and I like to name my birds after the characters.

Oh and Judy my female canary will happily sit on my finger...in the cage. The male wont but I got the female stuck my hand in the cage and she hopped on!:lol: I love them!! Even if you cant handle them they are wonderful to have!! I really would like to get more of them too, they are so pleasant. It almost helps burry the noise from the conures!! LOL! just kidding they dont even get to me much!

FAwkes has definete mood swings and bad days. Actually last night I had her out and she was talking and playing for about an hour, then I decided it was time for her to go to bed and get some rest, she had other palns. She was lunging and just being down right naughty! So i just calmly toweled her and put her to bed with out saying a word. She is back to her sweet self today.

Fawkes also chews on the feathers she losses, my DYH Amazon does too. As for the white toe nail that can be caused from lack of I believe calcium as a baby, its no big deal and the fact that it has dark coloring on it now is just probably because hes growing up and hes getting what he needs. I think its probably a good thing its getting color, its not bad that its white though either. Next yes I think a yearley check up is a good idea, mine all go once a year more if needed. So its probably just about time to make the call to the vet. Have him check calcium levels as Greys can lack that. Im sure hes a healthy little guy but its better to be safe than sorry!!

LOL! That is too funny!!! Well I guess hes noy your little "angel" LOL!

Ok guys this is always a big hit at my house!! Thought I would share it with you! Birdie pancakes! Normal pancake mix, follow the normal directions then add whatever fruit you want to, even a little fruit juice instead of a little of the water (I use coconut milk) I add berries, melon,pomegranite seeds, fresh coconut I also add each birds Favorite treat to their pancake! then I crush up some fruity pellets and add that along with a little seed. After that I just cook it like a normal pancake ande cool it until its safe for them to eat. I cut each pancake into fourths and serve 1/4 a day, freeze the rest in little bags weith the right birds name on it and serve the next day. you can also use the healthier pancake mix, I also use that when I have it. One more thing I do is instead of syrup I will smear some sweet potatoe on top!

When you cook three meals a day for the birds and only one for yourself!:laugh:

Poor little guy! Im so glad you gave him a great home! They truly are great birds! I would love to add one to my flock, and I have every intention on doing it someday! I wish you the best with your new baby!!
