1. It looks like this might actually take 9 months after all. So long as he or she doesnt learn to say Hello Noname, Good girl Noname, Good boy:P My favourite is STILL Siobhán  :cheer: !!
2. I got the kit in the post form avian biotech today. I am not sure if I actually want to know. I dont know the sexes of Liath, Oisin or even Beaker the caique.... Oh what to do... what if my baby girl is a..... BOY???
3. Out of curiosity, what is your birds name? Its just the last time your bird escaped it was called Poncho and you referred to it as a he, and now you refer to the grey as Bappy and female. Have you changed the name and sex of your bird, or did "Poncho" escape again? With all due respect, and I sincerely do not mean this as an attack, personal or otherwise, but I do find your logic regarding Bappy flawed. If you leave your bird free flighted in order to ensure she can fly back to you should she escape, she may well get tired, try to land on the ocean, get wet, be unable to fly and drown. If you give your bird a severe wing clipping, and she gets spooked, flaps a little and manages to make it over the side of the boat, she will also drown. Since you seem to be unclear as to which you are doing, perhaps you should also consider the third option of harnessing your bird when outdoors, as to the best of my knowledge there is no dangers associated with a harness.

5. What about Siobhán??? :silly:
6. Thank Goodness we don't have any possibilities of disaster. There has never been a hurricane, earthquake, or anything here. I live on top of a hill, so even flooding isnt a problem here... the only thing that could potentially happen is fire... and even for that I have mains powered smoke alarms, fire blankets and extinguishers all over the house. (I'm not paranoid... honestly!)
7. Wow Talon... you should have been called Talent! Maybe you will be the next Alex... definitely a genius! Not a hope of my guys learning their phone number, I am still working on Good morning (Oh and well done Melissa and Penny too )
8. Don't be sorry;) It could have been genuine. But for hyacinths are so rare and expensive, that obviously these people use that to prey on people and make money. When I saw it in Ireland, I was half tempted to call just to see how much money they were trying to make on each individual and how they were going to do it. I decided it wasnt worth the effort. There are some very sick people in this world of ours.

10. He really does love the music doesnt he? Really cute!! Thank you.
11. How did they manage with only 1 wing? I assume they had to be kept in captivity after that, but even so it must have been hard to stop them falling etc.
12. Thank you, this is brilliant. Can this be made a sticky? It would be handy to be able to find it in an emergency. Karma for you!
13. I am absolutely shocked by your post. I cannot believe that someone whose bird has escaped FOUR times would think it wise to allow his bird to be flighted and without a cage. I remember reading a thread about the last time your grey escaped and the worry and concern you had for it and yet you allow her to fly away from the boat and return??? I'm sorry but I really can't understand your logic here.
14. Aw shucks, thanks guys:blush: Well since you asked  Here he is playing with my daughters marble set!! Ssh don't tell her, she was at school!

Post edited by: siobha9, at: 2008/06/10 21:42
15. I know I sound like a doting mam... but isnt he adorable?
16. This is dreadful. The poor baby. Did the baby have the surgery? How is it now?
17. I may be wrong. But this looks suspiciously like an ad that was posted on Gumtree Ireland. I just looked and the ad is gone, but even the photo is identical if my memory serves me correctly. I wonder is it a scam?
18. He will eventually Dan... just be patient! And then he will learn "Be quiet, Dayo!!" Liath has that one well practised! I'm trying to teach her "Shh! Whisper!" at the moment.
19. I love the way they can mix up things they have learned and say them in totally different contexts. For instance my hubby was with Oisin and I was in the next room with Liath. Hubby says "No Biting Oisin" (Oisin chews on your hands rather hard). Liath says, "Yeah.... No Biting Oisin or No kisses for YOU!"

Have a Bud!

{Feel-good-0002006E} I hadnt seen it either.... that is hilarious. I suppose that's what you call closet talkers:laugh:
21. I would imagine at this stage you are nervous when you are around him, and he is probably picking up on that... if you are nervous, he will feel nervous too. If you've only had him a few days, then you really need to give it more time. Just try not to get your hand into a place where he can bite it until you are more comfortable with him, and he with you. By the way, I was totally fooled.... he looks adorable and way too cute to bite!
22. I can't see a thing wrong with her either.... but I must say she is gorgeous! When are you thinking of bringing her home?
23. Acappella wrote: OUCH! Yes I'd say you know that scream... its very scary isnt it? Even so called bird safe toys and cages can be dangerous! I mean you'd think when they are inside their cages they are safe, wouldnt you? I have recovered now I think She has managed to survive another 24 hours without getting into too much trouble so all is calm in our household again!
24. Perhaps not... but lets face it, Greys are already grey, they don't get wrinkles or go bald;) And who can tell the difference between a 10 year old and a 50 year old grey? Wish the same could be said for humans:(
