  1. Well, the ballpark of 12 weeks is what I have heard. Some take shorter or longer to wean...mine took 15-16 weeks.

I know I have never seen a tattoo on a teacher other than my Collision Repair and Refinishing teacher...but that is a shop setup. Because I live in FL I can only wear long sleeve shirts to work a few days a year…even if the air is cold the sun on you warms you up…and I don’t want them to show when I am at work. I plan on going to school and becoming a Sheriff Officer soon and I know that if I had one showing I would not get the job.
  3. {Love-00020119} lol...how cute. Maggie's got a crush.
  4. I got a bird from a local breeder and I had a total opposite experience. I was referred to the breeder though a parrot refuge that did not have any Greys at the time and was told that Jack (the breeder) was the best in town. I went over to his home and checked out the parents and saw they were very well cared for and happy. I then got to meet the babies and feel in love. The babies were still on three hand feedings a day, but I was familiar with the procedure, as I have done it with wild baby birds. The breeder had me come for over for the feedings for a few days so he could see me do it and get the baby used to me feeding him. He told he normally does not sell unweaned babies but because I only live 3-5 miles from him I got to take him home with the orders that if I was unsure about ANYTHING that I was to call him immediately no matter what the time of day or night. He called me the next day...he wanted to know how he was doing and if I had any questions so far. I still talk to him about once a month now and he is always glad to hear about how my baby is doing. He had told me about other birds he had breed and sold, and still talks to many of his customers about the birds he sold them. I just wanted to tell my story to let you know how a breeder SHOULD be…although I do not want anyone to think that a getting an unweaned baby is a good idea.
  5. lol...you are one strange cookie Joe. :laugh: B) :laugh: I've been thinking of 2 that I've wanted for a few years now and am just still on the fence about them. All I know is I will never get a tattoo at the place my step-mom got hers. I know there is a place in town that does A+ work...everyone that has a really good looking tat gets them there. I could care less if this place charged $100 more than the other, if they are better then every last dime was well worth it.

I got a CAG because I'm not big on the horn color in the beak of TAGs, but from everything I have read and seen, TAGs are equal with CAGs. Also, I'm with Milo.... no matter if you are White, Black, Hispanic, or Arab, there is no difference in learning abilities as a race...it's the individual. That’s all the difference with CAGs and TAGs are…a little bit of physical differences.
  7. The only reason I'm pretty sure my Conure was a boy is one time he had some...uhh...fun with the remote control. Female birds are not supposed to do those kinds of things so I'm like 99.9% sure he was male. Like Judy said you can only tell the sex is with a DNA test...and I don't think you will see what I did until it is around 5 years or so...and that’s only if your bird has a thing for inadament objects. :laugh: I'll be waiting for pictures!
  8. opps, sorry no dream on the last one had a brain fart. You had your weekend at the plaza hotel with a woman...but then her husband walked in... I wish I could become a movie star!
  9. I've never heard of it ether...I'm not a big cowboy fan though. Llama - I don't do drugs, but sometimes things are better when the people are on them...like KoRn and STP. :laugh: :laugh: :laugh: It's an old movie but if I could only watch one DVD for the rest of my life it would be American History X. I think it should be mandatory for everyone to watch it.
  10. well, she didn't...but a python got in your house and, well...
  11. Thats so sad. I had no clue just how many things can kill a bird until I started reading up on bird health. I wouldn't blame yourself, it's not like you knew and just didn't care. I'm sure the 5 years he was with you was the best 5 years a parrot could have. Hope to see you around the forums, and don't be shy about asking us anything.
  12. yeah, it was really out there though...the writter had to be on LSD or shrooms...something mind altering. LOL {Feel-bad-0002007F}
  13. Well, when birds start to have screaming problems, it is normally for attention. I'm guessing that you and your b/f would give him attention when he would make the cute noise and as it got old he still wanted attention, thus getting louder. What you got to do is completely ignore the noise...turn your back to him and leave the room until it has stopped for a few minutes. Negative attention is still attention to a bird so yelling at him to be quiet is giving him exactly what he wants. The noise very may well get louder when you start ignoring him, but it should not take long for him to get the picture and stop the noise...do not give up and cave, this will only make it harder to break the habit. When he makes noises that you want him to make then give him attention...this will replace the unwanted noise. Hope this helps...and feel free to ask any questions you may have. 14. Mine will get a little quiver at the top of the wings along with the chest...it's normal.
  15. 11:52am USA east coast time. Is it time to go home yet...bored out of my mind at work. {Communicate-000200D4}
  16. Glad I could give you some inspiration;)
  17. {Feel-good-0002006E} There will be a mass shortage this Halloween of any and all spooky birds.
  18. This sounds like a situation that clipping is a must if nothing else works to me too Dan. I know that people here don't like to think of ever giving "the clip" but in a situation like this where the bird is just going nuts it would be something that needs to be done if it isn't already. Also, Beccy has the right idea with having you be the bad guy and put him in the cage and things of that sort. I would give that a try for sure. I was sick to my stomach when I had to give up Otto, but I knew it had to be done for HIS happiness. I'm betting that adoption for human kids don't have the screening process I put a few people through that wanted him. I still get e-mails and pictures all the time letting me know how he is doing and I can go see him any time I want...but I would just get to emotional if I did. I still cry when I get a new pic of him.
  19. {Feel-good-0002006E} No, no...it's wine! :laugh: :laugh: :laugh: Hey Llama, You know why I hate Rebecca? I've wanted to see that...heard a lot of good things. I love Jim Carrey in more Adult films like the truman show and the Spotless mind.

My favorite beach is Venice beach about an hour or 2 North or Sanibel. The place is covered in shark teeth. If you bring a sifter and go only a few feet in you get some real nice ones.<br><br>Post edited by: BMustee, at: 2007/09/20 16:23
  21. Yeah, plus there are all kinds of websites dedicated to myspace page designs and FAQ's that are free/free as well.
  22. LoL...I went out and got 300 on DVD the DAY it came out! I was speeding and everything to get to the store after work. :laugh: Don't feel bad LMG...I've only been to see these 3 movies this year...and I think I only went 2 times last year.
  23. Yes beccy you are right that it is easier to train a laid back bird than a stubborn one, but the trick to trick training is to go with the birds pace, not your own...and to give the bird a reward to make him want to do what you are asking of him. I'm sure that there is lots of birds that refuse to do this trick, but that could be due to ether the bird itself or the owners methods. Makena's bird pretty much taught itself and knows that it will get the attention reward that it got the first time he was on his back...but if you push a bird to do something to the point of freaking out it won't want to do it. I did write at the bottom of my post to not push the bird if he really does not want to do it and to start off with easy tricks…that way it knows what training is and won’t be as nervous.
  24. The name would work. B) You could have it done in a cool font and maybe put like a red feather next to it or something. My real hold back is my step mom. She is covered in really bad color tattoos, and because her skin is dark and is not tight anymore she looks more like an old catchers mitt that a little kid colored on with Crayola markers. I know that sounds mean, but they really look bad…like, not colored in the lines bad.
  25. Thanks Joe. It's not really that hard...a lot of the stuff is html coding, but even that can be done by simple cut and paste. Let me guess, your going to ask if there will be a group lesson...LOL :laugh:
