{Feel-good-0002006E} I can only imagine!!!
-
Oh yeah, he does all my laughs...giggles, chuckles, and all out belly laughs. The first mimics he learned was my laughs.

Why would a breeder put it back? Once the baby is pulled they do not go back to the parents. They are kept in a brooder for warmth. Some breeders will keep an adult bird around the babies as a "teacher" but that bird is usually a pet and not a breeder. As for birds in pet stores with missing toes... My store has a couple of birds that are missing tips. One of our Blue Fronts is missing two tips because one of the girls that used to work there did not secure Ethel (B&G) in her cage and she got out and ended up on the BF's cage and was able to nip at his feet. The other birds that are missing toes got onto other birds cages...mostly due to customers that think the birds want to "visit" each other and let them go on other birds cages. My store takes GREAT care of the birds there but accidents do happen. I imagine that if someone wanted to buy one of our birds with a cruked beak or missing a toe we would bring the price down a little for them, but none of them are disabled and would need any extra help or healthcare.

Did the whole feather come out or did they break off. If the whole feather came out they will grow in faster.

I'll have to watch it when I get home...I don't need the boss hearing it. hahaha
-
Next Sunday I will have to hide the camera under my pillow to have it ready and leave the church stuff on again.
-
I have never been in an earthquake, but all my animals are wigged out for days after a huricane.

He will need a biger cage. The cage size you have is for Conure sized birds. I would say the smallest you should get would be 36in wide. The one he is in now could be used as a sleeping cage and because of his age transitional cage. I would keep a towel on top of the grate to keep him from getting hurt from falling. You said that he isn't really as into his morning feedings as he is for the night feedings. That is a very good indication that he is about ready to drop them. Start putting fresh foods in before you give the feeding and see how he eats. If he dives right in then you don't need to feed him. Keep the night feeding as long as he wants, but when he starts to loose interest then you can stop.

LOL...oh man, that is funny. I've gone to work with a big morning poop down the back...Elmo seems to do that to me in the mornings when he is mad at me. I've learned to keep an extra t-shirt in the car.

I just could not believe it when I saw it. Elmo LOVES the show Two and a Half Men and goes to the foot of the bed and watches it every night and laughs along with the show. I always thought it was because of the laugh-track and he would just laugh when he heard others laughing, but there is no laugh track in church! He never laughs when he watches Nova or Nature though...just stairs at it like he is learning something. I wish I would have gotten a video of it...OMG, you all would die!
-
Yeah, once she knows she is home for good she will start talking. Elmo thinks the bathroom is his concert hall. Whenever I put him on the shower rod he starts making every noise he can think of.
-
Yeah, you are going to have a ball with that little guy!
-
He sounds JUST like the one at the store! I would have got him but he was $900...That’s more than I paid for my grey. I’m sure one day I will get one, I just didn’t have that kind of money to spend.

That IS awesome! You must have the Patience of a saint because most people would have given up by now...but look how far your Sweetheart has come! {Love-000200BF}

I'm sure all of you have a local station that has a bunch of church stuff on Sunday mornings...well, last Sunday I was going to stay in bed a little longer than usual but Elmo wanted out of his cage. I took him out and put him on his tree stand and turned the TV on. I jumped back into bed and couldn't find the remote to change it off the church show so I just left it on (I'm so lazy). Elmo must have wanted to get a better look so he came flying over onto the foot of the bed where he always watches TV and just staired at it. Then, everytime the priest would get done saying something Elmo started laughing! Not just giggling, but all out laughing. He kept doing this for about 8-10 minutes before I found the remote under the pillow and changed the channel...thats when he stopped watching TV and came up to be with mommy. I'm telling you, I should have named him Damion and I'm betting there is a 666 birthmark under his feathers somewhere!!!

My Elmo seems to know that I don't put up with funny buisness in the morning...getting up at 5am does that to you. He has found a way to "Help" with the morning rutine though. I normally hit the snooze once or twice but now when I hit snooze the alarm keeps going off:blink: :pinch: . Although the other week that REALLY came in handy. I forgot to turn the alarm on and I was still woken up by it. I guess Elmo is my new backup alarm, even if he was 30 minutes late with the alarm.

{Feel-good-0002006E} I can just imagine what you were grumbling Judy..."darn you Berna...telling me about how great these little birds are...now I have to get one...I'll get you for this..."

LOL! Your a bird person when your co-workers see bird poop on your shoulder and don't ask what it is...they already know.
-
You know your a bird person when... The question is asked "Who wants to see a Black Palm Cockatoo?" and you go RUNNNING to see it like it was the second coming of Elvis! You talk about your birds like they are your kids..."You won't believe what they did today!" It's only name brand for your bird, and Walmart brand for you.

Post edited by: BMustee, at: 2008/02/26 17:58

That is for sure the next parrot I get. The one that we had at my work was sooooo cute. We all would stick him in our shirt pockets upside-down so there would be this little caique butt sticking out! He would just be chatting away while he was like that too. I think he knew it made it even cuter. He would LOVE to be held on his back and have his feet played with too. Oh I could go on for hours about those guys!
-
OMG!!! I LOVE CAIQUES!!! It doesn't suprise me that he is still a hand tame and all. There has not been one that I have met that doesn't love everybody. They have the best temperment and they really are the clowns they are made out to be. I can't believe anyone could mistreat a caique, I mean, they are just the best.
-
I thought that's what it would be. I tell you it's horrible when big fronts come through. The macaws at my work seem to be the most bothered and get REALLY cranky!!! They try to bite me, fighting with each other, screaming...Oi Vai, they are horrible!
-
That is so sad. I live in FL but I'm on the Gulf coast and thats the first time I heard of that. There was a burglery of a pet store near me not too long ago and there was an Amazon that stayed at the store and it was a mean little guy and they think that they tried to steal him but he probably attacked them. They said be on the lookout for someone with parrots they did not have before/trying to sell you with major bites to their hands! LOL!
-
Well, being in FL there is no lack of sunshine here but when a cold front comes in Elmo and all the birds at the store act like old men with arthritis and get REALLY cranky.
-
WOW! Now that is a lot of birds! I have 11 in total, but thats just 1 CAG and the rest are finches. We just got a bunch of new Canaries in at my work and I'm thinking really hard about getting a pair...so that would put me at 13.
