  1. Wow, that is impressive. To have someone come to your neck of the woods from the desert and say it's hot! I like to visit Florida, but I don't think I could live there. I went for a walk one evening, and these little lizards kept darting across the sidewalk. I was like, "I hope these guys know I'm wearning flip flops!"
  2. Kitty - Dan does his own thing. Pretty much to the beat of his own drum. If you are human and lack super powers (like me) you might try reading if you can't sleep in the middle of the night. I have a teeny bedside lamp (just enough light to read by, not enough to keep me awake). Because of the sort of luck that I have, the majority of the time the book is excellent, and I conk out before I can get through a whole chapter. LOL
  3. Oh my goodness...how sweet! Thanks for sharing!
  4. I'm sorry to hear you were having a bad time. It's going on a year that I've had Klaus and I'm getting the feeling that things go in phases - kind of like they do with human children. Klaus is slowly but surely coming out of the "velcro" stage where he couldn't be out without being ON me. Sounds like fun, but really isn't, trust me... So, while I don't have any direct advice for what you're going through, my two cents is: This too shall pass. Sounds like you are very caring, by the way and that you are doing a great job! (Can't argue with beak grinding...)

    Help!

Klaus has managed it all I'm afraid ... Drank milk straight from my cereal bowl... Nibbled at things that I'd been eating... I even unknowingly let him have some Campbell's vegetable soup with me (the salt made for some very interesting droppings, let me tell you). I know better now and apparently little teeny accidents aren't the end of the world. Just be diligent, though!
  6. Yep, my birdie attacks his toys. They never see it coming I tell ya! It would have to be a pretty crafty toy to get the better of my bird... LOL Yes, it's normal. I believe my friend Dan here refers to this as "Grey Kung Fu."
  7. LOL You guys are soooo funny... I'm back! Yes, it was 100 degrees there. Or so I saw as we passed a bank with a thermometer out front... Needless to say I didn't go outside much!
  8. Aw how cute! I will have to remember the clothes pin idea. I bet Klaus would love 'em!
  9. Cute story! I believe Drs. Foster & Smith carry the skewers.
  10. Cute, Dan! I like to watch Klaus eat mostaciolli - he holds it with one foot while munching away... That's my little "gauge" as to how well he likes a food - if he holds it with his foot, it's obviously a keeper! LOL
  11. Just so you guys don't think I was abducted by aliens or anything, I am off to Tampa, FL tomorrow for some training at my company's headquarters. They think I'm still trainable. Isn't that a hoot? I will be home on Thursday, I think that's the 26th. Hope you all have a good week!
  12. Really good story! Thank you...
  13. LOL These little stories never fail to make me smile. And they always seem to be doing (and saying) something different to keep us interested, don't they?
  14. LOL - looks very similar to the keyboard I just recently replaced! Now Klaus is NOT allowed in the area ... I know exactly how destructive he can be - and so quickly! Jeez, don't blink or the place will be trashed!
  15. He's going to talk any second now, I know it! (In fact, over the weekend I was told he said Good Bird again, of course while I wasn't in the room.) Here are all the cool noises he does: Cat Fight (Cracks me up! Then we tell him he's a bad kitty, and he looks very proud of himself.) The Dog Next Door (Thought it WAS the dog next door for the longest time. Recently put it together that the dog isn't out there right now, and the barking is coming from Klaus' direction - LOL) Brother in law's alarm clock - (picture the bro in laws puzzled expression as he heads down the hall to see why his alarm is going off at this hour) The Door Closing (Squeeeeeaaaak - click, click) Water dripping A squirrel Lots of different whistles What cool noises do your birds make? (Or for the talking ones - what silly stuff are they saying?)
  16. We just painted using the Eco Friendly paint at Home Depot. It is really good paint, and it really doesn't have an odor.
  17. We had our stand for about 4 months before Klaus started going on it willingly. It's next to his cage, so when he's having "out time" he likes to mosey over there. I fill the cups with little toys and he LOVES to pull every toy out!
  18. Ok, I am going to a place called "Michigan's Adventure" which is an amusement park and water park. Right here in Michigan, so I won't have to take out a second mortgage in order to pay for the gas to get there. This will be in August, over a long weekend. We're keeping it low key this year as we've been slowly but surely trying to do some remodeling around here. This is, of course, unless Dan wants to come over and build an aviary so I can watch him sweat. That would be worth a couple of dollars! LOL
  19. I love this type of post. It's always, "He grabbed it!" Not: "I decided to share and now I'm second guessing..." LOL They sure aren't shy about helping themselves, are they?
  20. Sorry, guys - Klaus just whistles the theme song. He's never seen the show, we just taught him to whistle it. The cat fight thing continues to entertain us. Now I tell him he's a bad kitty whenever he does the noise. And he just couldn't be prouder of himself!
  21. I have been doing that with Klaus, but putting a peanut or walnut in there. So of course, he'll do anything to get that stuff! I hadn't thought of sneaking something a little more nutritious in like a carrot stick! Good idea...
