  1. Thanks for the update on Rey. Glad to hear you are both doing well! Bummer about the bath resentment ~ almost everyone on here does it though, and the birds do somehow get over it.
  2. That is awesome! Karma to you for making me smile on this Monday...
  3. Try putting a favorite treat on top of the cage in such a way that she has to come out and get it. Or, put on some gloves & towel away! I feel for ya, and hope it goes well...
  4. I have a silk ficus not far from Klaus' cage. Foolproof, right? You cannot kill a fake plant... Klaus has only been in it once. I was vacuuming with him on my shoulder and he decided he'd had enough, so he flew and landed in the tree. He was so cute, with his little white face peeking out, waiting for the nightmare to be over!
  5. Hi, and welcome! Thank goodness for people like you in the world! You should report that house to the authorities...
  6. Space Shuttle? Wow... That scares me!
  7. Hey, that's a good idea! I usually give him the bits of my oatmeal that haven't come into contact with the splash of milk I put in mine. If I make up veggie oatmeal, I won't have to pick through it for him. Thanks!
  8. Hi, and welcome! My dogs didn't seem to care one way or the other about Klaus, then learned to stick around when he's eating something because he drops food all over the place! (My dogs are not picky, if it hits the floor, it's delicious!). Hopefully your dog will see this benefit to having your bird around, too!
  9. Hi, and welcome~ We look forward to hearing more from you!
  10. Hmmm...my dogs weren't really bothered when I brought Klaus home. They actually considered it a bonus because he drops so much food all over the place! LOL I would just advise to make sure & give your dog lots of special attention to let him know you haven't forgotten him. Good luck!
  11. I would say ceramic is ok as long as you keep it in the cage. Klaus likes to throw "overboard" anything that's on top of the cage. Also, be prepared to clean it often. I use old margarine or yogurt containers which can be tossed as soon as they're trashed.
  12. That's great news! Keep up the good work...
  13. I agree with Talon. Display the ultimate parrot disdain and turn your back on the bird when he's doing something you don't like. If you react to it at all (even in a negative way) he'll keep doing it.
  14. Thanks, guys! Yes, I have noticed Klaus goes crazy for things that are soft & warm. He loves oatmeal, too.
  15. Ok, I bought a tiny jar of sweet potato baby food. Ingredient list: Sweet potatoes, water. I warmed it up, and broke up little pieces of whole wheat bread. Then I dipped the bread in and fed it to Klaus. He LOVED it! As a busy, working mom, I don't always have time to pick up and prepare fresh veggies for the bird, so I think this will be a convenient way to make sure Klaus gets a nice, nutritious treat! It was fun feeding it to him, and when he was done he just sat for a while making his "contented" noise (beak grinding).
  16. Yeah, Juji's home! We can't wait to hear all about it!
  17. Thanks, Lisa! I'm looking forward to it...
  18. Ok, it was weigh-and-measure day at Curves today. Are you ready for this? I lost 8 pounds and 2 inches (one off my waist and one off my hips). And I don't miss those pounds & inches AT ALL!
  19. Wait here I am! I could go on and on (of course) but I would like to see Boston, Massachusetts and Savannah, Georgia. Key West, Florida too (going there in February! Check!). I want to see my son grow up to be a responsible and caring human being. I want the garden of my dreams and time to grow it and care for it (that'll come with retirement I think). This is selfish, but I'd like to go to a spa once and get pampered (massage, facial, make up and hair done - make me fabulous, dahling!). That's a few...If I sat here long enough, I'm sure I could come up with more! Oh, I want to see the opera "Carmen."

    hi

Sammy is very young ... Klaus is a "baby" yet, too at just under a year. From what I understand this is the "easy" time. Somewhere around age 2, their personalities change and they will want to assert their independence. Enjoy yourself now!
  21. Personally, I think they're fine home alone as part of the routine. I notice on the weekends when we're all home, Klaus will spend part of the time just chilling out in or on his cage, not doing much of anything. They like their "down time", too!
  22. Yes, the breeder I got Klaus from said one way to get them to talk is to talk to someone else. They will want to get in on the conversation. That's probably why Lyric gets going when you're on the phone.
  23. YOU'RE WELCOME! We love it, don't we, guys? I could talk about greys all day...
