  1. Hey, Radar! Glad to hear we'll have another Curves enthusiast (maybe). I really like it because you change machines so fast, it's impossible to get bored. I snuck and weighed myself the other day (I'm not due to be officially weighed until the 26th). And if I remember my starting weight correctly, I lost 5 lbs! Woo-hoo!
  2. Klaus does this, too. I taught him to give me a "kiss" and he uses this as an excuse to explore. I think he just wants to see what I've been eating lately. I do keep it to a minimum, though.
  3. Klaus just did something similar... I was doing dishes with him on my shoulder and he spotted the shiny zipper pull at the bottom of my sweater, so he clambered right down the front of me and hung there, playing, while I finished dishes. They are so agile!

Jane, you sound just like me! Klaus was not supposed to be my bird, but he chose me as his fave member of our "flock" and neither of us has looked back. My husband keeps threatening to get another grey so we can have "his" -n- "hers." I just laugh and say that the other bird will just fall for me, too!
  5. Aw! He'll probably have a blast at the pet shop!
  6. Oooh, how pretty! Thanks for sharing...
  7. Klaus is a shoulder-boy. I tried like heck when we first got him not to allow it, but he wore me down. If he's getting too nuts up there, I just make him get down.
  8. Very nice! Thank you for sharing that...
  9. Hi, and welcome! I like your name "Biteable." Trust me, we ALL are!
  10. Hey! I'm glad you're back! I hope everything is going smoothly settling in to the new place...
  11. Well, I went and applied today, in case anyone's interested. It cost me $112 all together. $45 to the post office for pictures & processing, $67 to the US Dept of State. I am nervous, though, because they kept my original birth certificate. When I asked for it back, they said, "Oh, no. That goes with your application." So, I'm a little nervous, but crossing my fingers. The guy at the post office said within one week I should be able to check the status. Keeping my fingers crossed!

Yeah, Klaus is a foodie! It's a great tool to get him back in the cage - let him see a nice big walnut going in there, and the battle is over! LOL
  13. Thanks, guys! I think what I'll do is go and put the application in just regular, not expedited (it's $60 less if you don't expedite). If it's not here by the time I leave, I understand I can also show proof that I have an active application and I'll be ok. I was really suprised to win the trip, I didn't even know I was in the running for it!
  14. My husband & I work opposite shifts. Dad is "breakfast guy", but I don't think he always lets Klaus out during the day. When I get home, I let Klaus out & he stays out until I go to bed. (I first tried to set the limit that he'd be out from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm, but Klaus has re-trained me on that one!). I have a 10-yr old son, and Klaus is not crazy about him. My nieces (aged 9 & 7) also visit frequently. The 9-yr old gets on very well with Klaus. She fusses over him, so how can he resist? She has a lovebird of her own at home, so she's good with birds. The 7-yr old niece doesn't really bother with him.
  15. Drs. Foster & Smith have the adventure pack, if I'm not mistaken. Yes, I am wracked with guilt on the rare occasions when Klaus' evening routine gets messed with. But he seems to be ok. I remember at Christmas we had to be out somewhere one evening, but we were home all day the next day. And somebody had Klaus on their shoulder all day that next day (between me & my husband). He even stepped up on my son at one point, and he's not wild about my son. He just wanted to be with somebody. Poor little guy! I'm going away for a few days next month, and I'm already worried (though my husband will be home, so he'll have someone familiar around)...I'm sure he'll be ok, though.
  16. Oh my gosh, a wet grey landing in walnut shavings! What a mess! Yes, Klaus bathes in his water bowl, too.
  17. Thanks again, everyone! Yes, Klaus has always jabbered, since we brought him home last July. When we first brought him home, he sounded more like R2D2 from Star Wars. Then he moved on to whistling (actual whistles & tunes). Lots of clicking sounds, the beak grind (which means he's content), water dripping sound, and he's also doing something now which sounds a little like a space laser (I don't know how else to describe it). No further words yet. But I find it hilarious that the first thing he said was a compliment to himself (Good bird!). LOL
  18. Hi, and welcome! I'm sorry for the loss of your mother. It's a great thing you're doing, taking care of her bird. What a wonderful way to honor her memory.
  19. Hi, and welcome! We're glad you're here...
  20. Hi, and welcome! Thanks for the great introduction - beautiful pictures!
  21. Hi, and welcome! We're glad you're here, and look forward to hearing more from you...
  22. Hi, and welcome Art Chick! Um, I give Klaus paper towel tubes & toilet paper tubes. Is that bad?
  23. Wow, that's quite a story! Just from reading your post I can tell your bird is in good hands now. He's lucky to have such a good mom!
  24. Well, hello to Des & Deb, both! Deb, I'm sorry you're having a tough time lately. I tried to send you some karma, but I already gave someone else some, so I have to wait 6 hours! Des, I would be very suprised if anyone on this forum were to give you a hard time about getting a baby that was really too young. From your post, it sounds like you're doing your absolute best, and that's all we expect from each other here! You will find this group to be very patient, knowledgeable, and friendly! Welcome!
