  2. There is a post which expressed concerns over the safety of PVC,but i believe it's perfectly safe. Many of our members have made PVC stands, here is a previous thread.... http://www.greyforums.net/forums/african-grey/58348-playgyms.html#85571
  3. Hi Scott & Welcome. I'm pleased to hear your doing all the necessary research prior to buying your baby grey So often people get a grey on an impulse buy & end up with problems.Researching will give you the upper hand
  4. " I suppose there has to be an exception to every rule " Yes there's always one Thanks for sharing your experience Siobhan.
  5. Yes to be honest i think most of our members use the instant microwavable packets Be sure the oats have cooled down sufficiently as microwaving food tends to give you hot spots in the bowl . Lisa Jojo shows a huge amount of trust in you to relax on his back, that's a great achievement I think your probably covering everything lisa, perhaps a flick through the Nursery & Training room & see if any of the threads can offer any additional tips
  6. We all percieve "cuddles " differently, some greys may just enjoy a head scratch, others will allow you to stroke their wings, some like a little neck tickle, you will need to take it slow & see what your baby enjoys. A word of warning with slightly older birds,Long periods of cuddling and birdie back rubs can increase hormonal production and trigger sexually influenced behaviors. If your bird begins to make weird noises or contorts its body, it may have been sexually triggered
  7. Order a take away/ take out Toni
  8. Hi jlandsiedel & Welcome. As Siobhan rightly says be very very cautious with a two year old & a grey.Youve only had the grey 24 hours,im pleased the first signs are good, but any sudden movement from a child can startle a grey,id hate for your daughter to suffer an injury.Educate her as she grows so she learns all about greys
  9. Nice to hear from you again, dont leave it so long this time
  10. Hi & Welcome to the forum. Please have a good read through the many topics in each of the rooms,im sure you will find many answers to your questions. We look forward to hearing more from you
  11. I doubt very much if a grey would interact with a budgie, there is such a size difference,as Kaedyn points out a greys beak can inflict a very serious injury to such a small bird.you would have to closely supervise all out of cage time, personally i wouldnt recommend it,it's not worth the risk.Other members may have different experiences & hopefully add their thoughts.
  12. Thanks for the update Steve, show me a grey on here that isnt spoilt ? Im so pleased he is doing well & is such a part of your family.
  13. Here is a link on oatmeal/porridge to our UK members Many of us cheat & use the microwable oats, just remember to make with water & not milk as its a no for our greys but fine for us humans You can always add a little baby food, fruit flavour thats what i do. http://www.wikihow.com/Make-Oatmeal
  14. Here is a link on socializing your baby... http://www.greyforums.net/forums/the-nursery/73094-socializing-your-baby-grey.html sometimes even after all our efforts in socializing our birds they can often pick one particular family member to bond with. It's a myth that a male grey will only like women & vice versa. My greys have no trouble in accepting my family members of both sexes
