  10. Hi Allie & Unfortunately greys are renowned for choosing particular members of a family to bond with & there's not an awful lot you can do to change their minds.
  11. Allowing your pet parrot on your shoulder is a personal choice & can carry the risk of injury but a risk i know some of us take.I would say make sure your parrot steps up on to your hand every time you ask him to, they have a terrible habit of running to the middle of your shoulders so you cant get them I for one do allow my greys on my shoulders usually two at a time ! but they do step up when asked.I know greys enjoy being carried around like this & can move about with us,just always air on the side of caution
  12. I have four greys & i swear they hear me open different packets of food & god help me if the microwave dings ! The noise is unbelievable
  13. Hi Bex, i believe you are in the UK ? i would ask at your vets, have a look around the UK based forums if you do a google search there are plenty of sites.Post a message on them, but come back to us as a member we would like you to stay

  15. He will be fine jimmy Give mickey a big kiss from me
  16. If you are unable to handle him you will neeed to use a method called the towel. i have copied a link for you, please click on it for instructions. He really does need to see an avian vet ASAP. http://thetrueparrot.homestead.com/howtotowel.html
  17. I agree with the others,Really have a long & hard think about your situation,Selling your grey maybe a decision you live to regret. If there is anyway you can work around it then i urge you to try.Good luck in making a decision which i appreciate must be very difficult.
  18. Snow sounds as if he has a great varied diet, don't fret over the pellets
  19. Terri i know that the majority of UK suppliers ship palm nuts out frozen,Palm Nuts should be stored frozen, because of the high oil content you can refreeze them on receipt without any effect on taste or quality. Each day take out the quantity of palm nuts you require, mine have one each a day.As for shelf life in the freezer i buy in bulk & i have kept them in my freezer for a few months at a time.I will try & find out exactly how long they can be stored for.
  20. They all have varying appetites, many go through bouts of eating loads. The main feeding time is in the morning when they are hungry after their nights sleep.Again in the evening many greys have a big feed to stock up before sleeping again. My greys always have access to food during the day. He will want to eat when you eat as greys are flock animals & like to feed together with members of their flock & to him you are his flock. A little of what you are having in moderation is ok.If he has fruit & veg along side his seed then he is getting a nutritional diet & i wouldn't think there is anything missing from his diet.
