  2. Thanks for the information on the PVC & yes many members have made stands from them. This came up a while back, i'll see if i can find the link
  3. Hi Fal, im sure your baby already recognises your smell & voice, you have taken over the parental role & he see you as his parent I personally wouldnt use a spray to distract him nibbling your fingers,i would just be consistent & tell him no, he will learn in time, why would you massage an empty crop,i would had thought you would only need to massage the crop if your baby had sour crop/crop impaction or slow crop ! Babies like warm food, mashed sweet potatoes etc, just make sure when you use microwave be sure to check for hotspots in the food, offer plenty of different varieties of food now as Dennis is showing intrest
  4. {Feel-good-0002006E}There good Dan & so true
  5. Thanks for that inside information,im sure that many of us would love to read it,lets hope it's in the bookshops for november, just in time for xmas
  6. It's early days she needs to feel comfortable with her new surroundings, she will flap & panic when she flys as she will be looking for a safe landing spot !i know you purchased her from a pet shop, has she been taught to step up ? this is the one command she really needs to be taught, here is a link for you.. http://birds.about.com/od/behaviorandtraining/ss/TeachingStepUp.htm
  7. here is a previous thread... http://www.greyforums.net/forums/african- grey/25091-cheap-safe-air-purifier.
  8. here is a link on color mutation.. http://www.greyforums.net/forums/african-grey/35360-color-mutations.html#38384
  9. I agree with the other members a picture of the eye if you can get one would help.Acappella is quite correct he is not getting enough sleep, greys should have a good 9-10 hours a night.
  10. Hi eva8 & welcome good luck in your search for a baby grey. You will find a wealth of information here on the forum have a good look around
  11. I agree with Dave over the pricing factor, baby greys handreared here in the UK are pretty much the same price from different breeders. Some do push their luck & ask a little more than others & this always indicates to me that there breeding their birds for the profit they can make ,id rather they sold their babies knowing that there going to wonderful homes as opposed to how much they can make.Older greys & breeding greys do sell for less. The eye colour you describe does sound consistent with your greys age.
  12. Hi Terri & welcome glad you decided to join us.Welcome to the world of owning a grey.Have a good look around the site there are plenty of informative topics to read through.Look forward to hearing more from you.
  13. well im pleased at least the scouts know how to behave
  14. sorry to hear your bird has been clipped poorly,as Mark says only up to a maximum of 4 or 5 of the primaries need to be clipped this takes away the bird's forward flight propulsion. Without this, the "lift" part of the flight system is fairly useless. So, if the bird tries to fly away, he will flutter safely to the ground, without falling too hard.
  15. Geez thanks Lucy, thats why we are here,it's a pleasure to help others
  16. A great idea Terri getting them accustomed to their travel cages.moving can be such a strain but sounds as if you have planned ahead well & put the welfare of your birds first.good luck with the move.
  17. Talon i didn't think of that, keeping the thread open will alert our members to the dangers of the scams that unfortunately are far to common on forums & bird ad sites. There is always going to be unscrupulous people out there willing to make a buck by conning people,Not much in life is free & definately not a free /cheap grey. The majority of these scams are from ,Cameroon,Africa etc..So please be aware of this when looking for a Grey.
  18. Lucy many of our members feed Harrisons pellets along side Fresh veg & fruit,I also feed a good quality seed mix.Introducing new foods is going to take time if your grey has had a poor diet, but persevere it will be a gradual progress for him.Try feeding new food in the morning along with his seed, greys are at their hungriest in the mornings. Here is a few links for you.. http://www.greyforums.net/forums/bird-food/53831-tips-for-getting-your-grey-to-eattry-new-foods.html http://www.greyforums.net/forums/bird-food/59809-complete-veggiefruit-list.html http://www.greyforums.net/forums/bird-food/24030-whats-your-greys-diet.html<br><br>Post edited by: lovemyGreys, at: 2008/03/17 15:22
  19. Personally i would take him now,get a health check done & get it out of the way, then you can concentrate on building up a relationship with your grey.
  20. {Feel-bad-0002006A}Geez i want some sun {Feel-bad-000200BC}
  21. Yes Mark i agree seed plays an important roll in their diet,it is a natural behaviour for them to crack seed, well they dont have pellets to hand in the wild do they ?
  22. yes they all react differently to change, some take it in their stride & with others it effects them deeply. It is such a pity but hopefully once Angie is settled & feels secure again she will stop.Good luck with the move.
  23. thats funny,in pleased your are enjoying her so much.greys are wonderful characters
