  1. Sounds like someone has been jerking their hand back in the past. So try laddering pratice. And repetive in/out of cage. Or maybe he feels he is in the wrong spot. My Grey won't step up from a perch but only from the side or top of the cage. lol If this don't work maybe stick training would be a good idea for getting him out of the cage.<br><br>Post edited by: Tari, at: 2007/08/22 22:36
  2. again lol Glad you interduced yourself. Can't wait to see pictures and hear more stories about you and your grey.
  3. You have many points of views here. If your room mate already had a ferret it would be one thing to advice you for safety of your birds. But since she/he does not maybe there is a different pet they would like? Or maybe your room mate well fall in love with the birds and want one too? So I would suggest waiting till the birds are comfortable and then talk about it again after they settle in.<br><br>Post edited by: Tari, at: 2007/08/22 18:39

    Egg Laying

Six eggs is ok. Have you let her keep any? If you let her keep some it well help stop the laying also cut down the hours of light she gets. My quaker breeders lay 6 to 8 a clutch with no issues. Make sure she has extra calcium. If none of this works then you may have to take her to the vet there are a couple different shots out there you bird can get to stop the laying but only as a last measure.
  5. Ok gang the chance to add your photos well end on Sunday. So get to snaping those pictures.
  6. Mine was around 9 months old when I heard her talking from the other room. lol She is a TAG.
  7. Yes please keep us up to date. I know migrains are no fun. I have them time to time. But no one has ever told me they were cause of my birds. And I dare someone to suggest I get rid of any of them. lol But I have some of mine almost 9 years. They are here to stay if I have to build them their own room to keep them.
  8. That is true for those that have never breed or has birds this would be very helpful for them. Fortantly even my breeder bird has yet to have this problem. She gets lots of extra calcium. I have also heard once they have a few eggs it is less likely to happen. Anyone else heard this?
  9. That is so scarry. My TAG is a female she well be 9 next month and so far she has not laid any eggs. But I worry if she ever starts that this may be a problem. I know that extra calcium well help keep the eggs for breaking inside them but I know of nothing to help keep them from getting egg bound.

    Corrupt-a-Dream

You get your dream but then have no time to spend with them. I wish I had a pair of breeder TAG's.
  11. Ok my fault but could we please get back to the topic. Thank you
  12. Oh wow what a great photo thank you so much for sharing.
  13. Be carefull when doing that. I have heard about birds that were trained to do it over a waste basket only to have it never poop on its own ever again. Look for the signs and just move the bird when he gets ready. Mine grey well push back and lift her tail. I just move Que (my grey) away. Or you could just put the bird down ever 15 min or so and always make sure she/he poops before you pick up. I use to wear a cape thing I had made to keep poop off my cloths but after I got a better idea of the signs I stopped doing that. And one last thing being pooped on is part of being owned by a parrot wear it with pride. lol Good Luck
  14. I say don't inturduce them at all. You need to keep them in separate rooms. You never know what bugs/germs the other parrot may carry but be immune to. Even when you buy a new bird you have to QT for 30 to 45 days. Even if you ignore that advice you still can't really let them be together unless your are prepared for the possible emergency trip to the vet. I have seen birds get a foot of beak ripped off before anyone can stop them. And this was parrots that are watched when out together. So if you decided to let them in the same room make sure they stay in their own space it takes a long time and slow work to try and let birds "play" together and unless they are the same species IMO it is never a good idea. Even my pet quakers are not allowed to play together.<br><br>Post edited by: Tari, at: 2007/08/22 01:57
  15. Since they are *# out I think it may be ok. Ill ask the other mods and get back with you.
  16. I saw this post about what greys say but my grey is a closet talker and I can't post there. lol But I thought it would be fun to learn what our other birds say and what kind of bird they are. I'll start. My Topaz (blue quaker) is starting to really get clear with her speach. So far I can make out. Hello Pretty Bird Good Bird I love you Its early yet as she is only 3 months old and even others can understand Hello now not just me. So she is getting better. Ok your turn......<br><br>Post edited by: Tari, at: 2007/08/22 00:46

    New B&G Macaw

Please keep us up to date on your baby. Are you thinking of names yet? looking at cages? Ready to spend 100 bucks a month on toys? lol But for real keep us updated. Babies are so darn cute.
  18. Has anyone seen or heard from heather?
  19. ya that is why my doctors don't know I have them cause they really have no clue about pets and that is always the first thing they say. However my liver transplant doctor knows about the pet but he also know how important for good health it is for a patient to be happy and he is a younger doctor. After you get a filter you well see a huge difference. You need one of those IMO wither you have birds or not.
  20. Well one more bird should not of made that much difference. Cockatiels are much worse with the dust then the grey anyday. Just try the things suggested here. http://www.greyforums.net/forums/african-grey/27052-asthma.html And you might get to keep both your birds.<br><br>Post edited by: Tari, at: 2007/08/21 23:12
  21. There is a post all about birds and astham. I think it might help you to be able to keep your bird if you try some of the idea out. BTW its the dust from the feathers not the feathers.<br><br>Post edited by: Tari, at: 2007/08/21 23:08
  22. If she does not have any left maybe you can get her to recomend someone or ask her about Myrna. When you come down maybe we can met for lunch before you pick up your baby if you can stand that delay. lol
