Great pictures Heather! Melissa -
A lady was walking past a pet store when a parrot said, ''Hey, lady! You're really ugly!" The lady was furious and continued on her way. On the way home, she passed by the petstore again and the parrot once more said "Hey, lady! You're really ugly!" She was incredibly ticked now, so she went into the store and said that she would sue the store and kill the bird. The store manager apologized profusely and promised he would make sure the parrot didn't say it again. The next day, she deliberately passed by the store to test the parrot. "Hey, lady!" it said. "Yes?" "You know."

The Four Ghosts of the White House One night, George W. Bush is tossing restlessly in his White House bed. He awakens to see George Washington standing by him Bush asks him, "George, what''s the best thing I can do to help the country?" "Set an honest and honorable example, just as I did," Washington advises, and then fades away... The next night, Bush is astir again, and sees the ghost of Thomas Jefferson moving through the darkened bedroom. Bush calls out, "Tom, please! What is the best thing I can do to help the country?" "Respect the Constitution, as I did," Jefferson advises, and dims from sight... The third night sleep still does not come for Bush. He awakens to see the ghost of FDR hovering over his bed. Bush whispers, "Franklin, What is the best thing I can do to help the country?" "Help the less fortunate, just as I did," FDR replies and fades into the mist... Bush isn''t sleeping well the fourth night when he sees another figure moving in the shadows. It is the ghost of Abraham Lincoln. Bush pleads, "Abe, what is the best thing I can do right now to help the country?" Lincoln replies, "Go see a play."

In most of the US there is a policy of checking on any stalled vehicle on the highway when temps drop to single digits or below. About 3 am one very cold morning, Montana State Trooper Allan Nixon #658 respponded to a call there was a car off the shoulder of the road outside Great Falls, Montana. He located the car, stuck in deep snow and with the engine still running. Pulling in behind the car with his emergency lights on, the trooper walked to the drivers door to find an older man passed out behind the wheel with a nearly empty bottle of vodka on the seat besides him. The driver came awake when the trooper tapped on his window. Seeing the rotating lights in his rearview mirror, and the state trooper standing next to his car, the man panicked. He jerked the gearshift into drive and hit the gas. The cars speedometer was showing 20-30-40 and then 50 MPH, but it was still stuck in the snow, wheels spinning. Trooper Nixon, having a sense of humor, began running in place next to the speeding(but stationary) car. The driver was totally freaked, thinking the trooper was actually keeping up with him. This goes on for about 30 seconds, then the trooper yelled. "PULL OVER!" The man nodded, turned his wheel and stopped the engine. Needless to say, the man from North Dakota was arrested and is probably still shaking his head over the state trooper in Montana would could run 50 MPH . Who says troopers don't have a sense of Humor? Melissa

TubeScreamer wrote: Yeah right. I want you to try and train a horse, or ANY animal that way, and still have it's TRUST. I don't know where you've been, but they hardly EVER train animals that way. I wonder why your bird is still shaking when you come near it. Maybe from the fear of being grabbed violently, or a finger shoved in it's beak? What really bugs me is the fact that now because you supposably "trained" a bird, that everything is wrong? That they aren't smart? Wow. Just wow. Oh, and tubescreamer, why don't you check out Monty Roberts? John Lyons? There are PLENTY of horse trainers that have trained wild horses that use the same language as the horses, and, oh yeah, they don't FORCE them to submit.

Post edited by: TalonSis, at: 2008/02/23 03:50

Last night there was a lunar eclipse, and I got some pictures. They aren't that great because I wasn't very sure how to shoot the moon at night, but at least you got an idea of what it looked like. Apparently the next eclipse will be sometimes in 2010. This one was about 9:30 at night. Thankfully there were no clouds out. (It was cold out though, I was outside taking pictures in my socks and my feet froze. ) Enjoy! Melissa

Harrison wishing everyone a Happy Valentine's Day
TalonSis replied to HeatherStrella's topic in Photography & Video Room
It doesn't matter Heather. You can do either. Try increasing the f-stop so it's at like 10 or something to get the roses in focus. Can't wait to see your next batch! Melissa -

TalonSis replied to Ronda477's topic in Photography & Video Room
Hi Ronda, it looks like you'd want to use the advanced sport shooting, or Shutter priority mode for the ones where he's moving alot. Shutter priority is you can adjust the shutter to how fast it closes. You can check out the members photography thread to read about some more if you want. Melissa -
Great pictures! I love the combination of green and orange. What kind of camera do you have, if you don't mind me asking. You take great photos. Melissa

Great pictures Ronda! I'm glad your making progress with sweetheart. What was your camera set at? Maybe if you changed to a different setting you could get them sharper. Melissa -

I don't want to have to see a post by you one day saying that Goober flew off. I'd make us all feel better if you just put a harness on him. Melissa
-
Great pictures steph! I would suggest not bringing Goober outside without a harness or cage, because if he got scared he could fly away. I know you may think that would never happen, but just ask our members. Some have had to learn that the hard way. It also looks chilly outside, I don't want Goober to get cold! Melissa
