I would spoon feed him some soft foods, it will not hurt to give him that, it is just taking a little longer to wean him, some of them take longer. I still give my grey some warm baby food in the mornings with a spoon and she is over a year old. No harm in it, he will wean when he is ready. Thanks for the update.
