Stick with the newspaper, its cheap especially if you already get the paper like I do.

I think he will be ok, greylover, others have left for similar time periods and their greys were fine and since your hubby will be around some will be a big help especially if he likes him. Get him some new toys and things to occupy his alone time and have hubby give him outside the cage time and he will be fine, trust me, he won't forget you. When you come home he will be so glad to see you and it will make it worth the trip. Is your trip for business or pleasure? Just curious.

It's ok in small amounts, Tricky, my grey and sun conure both love cheese and when they see the package come out of the fridge they both come running and beg for some.:laugh:

Hello Annemarie, and welcome to our family, A lot of information is already on this forum in the different threads, you just need to read a lot of them, will probably answer a lot of your questions. If you have had a grey before then having a baby will not be alot different and hopefully you will not get it until it is weaned, some do but I don't recommend it and a good breeder will want to wean it before he allows you to have it. Again, welcome to the forum and we look forward to hearing more about you and your pursuit of a grey.

Does the full spectrum lighting give off a lot of heat like regular bulbs, I would not want that extra heat in the summer?

Put a little oatmeal in a bowl and a little water and microwave it for a minute, then add some baby food vegetables such as carrots, sweet potatoes or squash and mix it up and spoon feed him, my grey loves it and I give it to her every morning and will for the rest of her life as long as she wants it. Gets some veggies into them too. Try it.
