It won't be that bad, Dan, my bark is worse than my bite, I promise. Then I am gonna start behaving myself, yeah right. B) :woohoo:
-
Then if he is flying that is why he has lost a little weight, they do that then but he will gain it back. I think most breeders do clip after the bird fledges, it makes it easier to keep them grounded that way, but they should have asked you first.

Thanks Tracy, I sure will let you know, I still do want to be able to offer sprouted seeds to my birds. And wheatgrass is another one I have considered, thanks for the information, you truly are the best mod for this room.

This is so true, Tari, and thanks for posting this to remind everyone to be careful on the internet, especially the children. As parents, they need to know and be more involved in what their kids are doing on the computer, as there is always that pervert that preys on the unsuspecting and naive.

Boxes are fine, especially if your grey is a boy, for we have another member that has a problem with her girl wanting to possibly make a nest in it.

Welcome to the family, Razza45, glad you joined our grey forum and we are delighted to have you here. I am not Italian but eating is high on my priority list also, as is most people I assume. We are glad you found us and we are like a second family here and we will help you in any way we can. If you have any questions feel free to ask, we will do our best to give you an answer as quickly as possible. We would like for you to post some photos here in this thread if you can manage it, why don't you check out the FAQ section, there is one dealing with adding photos to a thread.

Jealous, you say, a woman started this thread for us women and you men, namely Dan, have hijacked it for themselves to bash us, how dare you.  I am at work at the moment but you wait until I get home, payback is coming. Girls are we gonna stand for this, no way.:woohoo:

Sorry to hear that, Oliver, but yes pay a little more attention to the conure because like mine she is jealous. My Sunny spends a lot of her time out of the cage on my shoulder and she does not scream when she is there. Now is someone strange comes in the house she will scream at them, I guess letting me know that fact. Just hang in there, even though Josey does mimic Sunny's calls does not mean she does it a lot, just occasionally. Be sure to reward Olly for periods of being quiet so he knows thats what you want him to do.

Tracy, I have tried sprouting seeds to feed Josey but I had limited success. I haven't seen a mix of different seeds like the bag you posted a photo of here in my area, but there are a few stores where I can buy the individual seeds out of bins. I must not have followed the directions correctly for they did not turn out like I expected, but maybe I should give it another try. I know they are very nutritious for our greys and for ourselves also. Thanks for bringing this topic up, I will try it again.

Well 3 months is still a little young, and Josey did not come home until she was over 4 months old, so he is right on schedule. The caregiver did not want to send her home until she was off the feedings and eating well on regular food. So hang in there and we will keep you company until he gets home, but I know the wait is hard, but the end result will be worth it. Regarding an earlier question of yours, Josey was almost a year old before she said anything and it was "what", go figure.

Nikko tried to give my parents heart attacks
judygram replied to spookyhurst's topic in The GREY Lounge
Darn, that would have been a Kodak moment for sure, sounds like Nikko is a lot of fun, Spookyhurst, and thanks for sharing that for us to laugh at. -
Hello and welcome to the family, Jasmine, glad to have another member from Hawaii. I know you will love it here on this forum and we are like a second family. Sorry to hear about the rodent problem, but I wouldn't worry too much about them harming your new grey, of course no one wants these rodents around but your new grey will make fast work of any that do decide to venture into its cage. Please do send us a photo when you can, we love to look at pictures of each other's birds.

Keep your chin up Toni, it is just a minor setback, I'm sure Alcazar is going to be fine, it just will be a few extra days until you can bring him home. But I know how you feel when you anticipate something so much and then it is pushed back a few days more. It will all be over soon and he will be at home with you, so hang in there dear. Thanks Toni, for keeping us informed.

Talon and I chatted with Zooky tonight on the IM and she is very depressed about Mende. Zooky is a fairly new member and she has a young grey that is less than a year old and it has deformed claws and knees. After seeing a specialist to see about taking a couple of toes off to help her get around better she found out that the bird's spine is crushed and has been since she was still in the nest. The vet also suspects liver trouble and wants to run more tests to determine if surgery is feasible or if she should be allowed to live as long as is possible with the conditions. Her vet bills so far have run over $700 and that will surely mount much further if more tests and surgery take place. Which brings me to the reason I started this thread. We cannot help Mende, but we can help Zooky with our thoughts and prayers to comfort her in her time of depression. She took this grey in knowing about the problems of the feet and claws but not to the extent of all its problems and now its future is uncertain. I can't imagine how she must feel and my heart goes out to her and to Mende. Please join in with your posts to let Zooky know we care about her and Mende and we will say a little prayer that Mende will heal as best as she can and be able to be happy and pain free for the rest of her life, however long that happens to be.

Post edited by: judygram, at: 2007/08/30 05:20

Michael, I buy a fruit and nut mix at Walmart that has pretty much the same stuff, its called tropical trail mix, 1 lb, 12 oz for $4.98 and both my grey and sun conure eat it. Thats a lot cheaper than $11 a lb. And the wasabi would be a fine addition since they like a spicy or hot flavor.

Besides, when you do get back he will be so glad to see you all will be forgiven, so don't worry about it, he will be fine and so will you.

I think 10 hours is not too long to leave Brian if it is only one time, we all have had to leave for longer than normal once in a while and I don't think it will be a problem. As long as you leave enough food and water he should be fine, and plenty of toys, maybe leave some new ones he hasn't had before or had for a while, to keep him occupied. I am normally gone for at least 9 hours during the week when I go to work and Josey is fine. But you are at home most of the time but I think as long as it does not happen very often then he should be ok with it.

But the companies that manufacture shampoos purposely put something in the shampoo that makes it impossible for it to be styled without the use of a hair dryer, gels and hairsprays. I wish supper would magically fix itself every night so I could stay here on site and post to my heart's content.

Well Frank is enjoying a little vacation time and he deserves that, but yes I have to admit that I miss him too, it is too quiet here without him. But he will be back soon and then things will get back to normal, I hope. He is so much a part of this forum that it lacks substance without him, not that the rest of you all are secondary, but he is the heart and soul of greyforums, he is the reason we have what we have here. We won't allow him to take off again for a while, right girls?

Tracy is very knowledgable in the grey department since she has 3 of them.

I hear you there, Makena, it is depressing, but for our birds it is so important, for they hide illness until they can no longer, so a scale is a must have. Makena is at a good weight at 430 grams, average I would say, not too light and not too heavy.
