  1. Well we can't wait either so be sure to let us know when you get Corey, and post a photo so we can admire him also. FairY, how wonderful you are considering getting a grey also, I didn't know that but the same things apply to you also, but if you do decide to get one, you will finally understand how we all feel about ours. They truly are amazing creatures.
  2. Patience my man is a virtue, but most men lack that virtue it seems, ok already, I will get on it this evening. {Emotions-00020076}
  3. Dan, I keep the red palm oil at room temperature and it is the same as the day I bought it, LOL, to think you would go thru it that quick. A little goes a long way when you only use 1/4 teaspoon at a time. If I am not right, Dave will straighten us out, he knows all about that stuff, but it would get so hard in the fridge.
  4. Well Kim the correction was in the previous post from Joe, we are doing it all wrong, boiling our potatoes in cold water when we should be putting them in hot. Man I feel like I am in the hot water myself, I learned to cook from my mother and I guess she didn't know any better, but I never found any fault with her. She made many home cooked meals, she had to with 11 kids around, 3 meals a day, 365 days a year, you do the math. Kim I'm glad to hear Dan can cook if he has to, my hubby can't and won't and I wouldn't eat it anyway, heck the dog probably wouldn't touch it. But we are learning something from the man here, we have a bona fide Italian cook in our midst and I intend to milk him for all he is worth.
  5. Happy Birthday, Melissa, and what a happy age to be, all of 15 years old. I hope you have a blast on your birthday and I know Mom has a celebration planned for you, if anyone deserves it you do. She is right, you do a lot for this forum and our family here and we are very proud of you. And what a lovely name she picked out for you 15 years ago, the same one I gave my daughter over 39 years ago, but I call her Missy for short. Eat a piece of cake for me and may you celebrate many more happy birthdays for a long, long time to come. Some man is going to be so lucky one day, but in the meantime Mom is keeping them away with a stick.:kiss:
  6. Ok so I don't rinse any pasta no matter what I am going to use it for, thanks Joe. And Mark you heard it from the cook's mouth, no rinsing the pasta. I knew this thread would result in some good information, I am patting myself on the back for thinking of it. But I know Joe and Mark aren't the only male members who can cook, but I did just start this thread so we will wait for the others to come out of the woodwork and identify themselves.
  7. Some of the members have had luck getting their greys to eat pellets by soaking them in a little juice like apple juice and then maybe using less and less juice until they are eating them without it. Try that and see if it makes him eat or at least try them.
  8. Hello and welcome to the family, Toadbaby, glad you could join us. I know you are going to like it here, we treat each other like family here and care about each other and our greys. Why don't you tell us a little more about yourself and your grey, how old is your grey, how long have you had him/her, its name? If you have a photo of your grey you would like to post we would love to see it, we love to admire each other's greys. If you have any specific questions feel free to ask us, we will do our best to get you an answer. In the meantime browse thru our topics and threads for loads of information.
  9. Try giving him some unsalted peanuts if you want him to gain some weight, but his weight may just be his normal weight for him. Just provide him with plenty of foods and he will eat what he needs.
  10. Leave it to Joe to straighten Mark out on the pasta, I knew that you don't rinse pasta that you are going to put a sauce on, but if I am making a pasta salad I do rinse it, now Joe you say I shouldn't rinse any pasta no matter what I am using it for? I want to hear it from the expert, the man who knows his way around the kitchen, the one and only Joe.
  11. I'd go easy on the cookies, a nibble now and then, but don't make a habit of it, the other things you mentioned are fine.
  12. Any veggies except mushrooms, onions and avocodo. You can offer them raw, cooked, chopped, mashed, shredded or most any form. Try several different kinds in several different ways. He can also eat some of what you are having for dinner, my Josey eats off my plate. No salty foods or sweetened foods. I think we have a thread that deals with veggies and what to feed and not to feed. Check it out for lots of good ideas.
  13. I don't think that is enough to worry about yet, if it goes any lower then he should get checked out. Do you weigh him every day or so, you should and maybe jot down on a calendar what it is and that way you can keep up with it. I would include a lot of vegetables with the fruit, in fact it should be more veggies than fruit.
  14. Well this is a bonus, we get a recipe too, and it sounds good Mark, I will have to try it. You know they always say the way to a man's heart is thru his stomach, but it can work for women too, keep that in mind you men out there. Thanks Mark, your wife is a lucky woman and you tell her I said so.
  15. We all know that Joe, aka nevjoe, can cook, my gosh he can cook, you should see his recipes, and I recently learned that Mark, aka dblhelix, can cook also. But I wonder how many of the other male members of this forum can cook. Now I am not talking about popping something in the microwave or preparing something out of a box but some honest to goodness real cooking. And it doesn't have to be a gourmet type of cooking but where you can start from scratch and make something good to eat that would make any woman proud. Most of us women can cook and a lot of us love to cook but it is so nice to have a man that can cook along with the other things that I won't mention. I know that would earn brownie points with me. How about it guys, do any of you do any cooking in your house or is that woman's work?
  16. That was cute, Spookyhurst, thanks for sharing that with us, and she is such a good looking grey too.
  17. Rotten to the core they are and Josey gets her hot breakfast every morning and my hubby is lucky if he gets any breakfast on the weekends. {Emotions-00020070}
  18. Well good for you Mark, we have another man that can cook, if I wore a hat I would take it off for ya, I like a man that can cook instead of hollering, "whats to eat woman" {Love-000200DA}
  19. Don't you worry, you will hear it when you get home, and probably a lot more now that he is talking.
  20. I give Josey warm oatmeal every day with some baby food which varies and a little red palm oil. She loves it and she get is every morning all year.
  21. She is a cutie and Maggie Mae is a cute name.
  22. Are you speaking from experience, Mark, do you cook?
  23. Yes it is, stainless steel is the way to go and it is not that hard to clean up either. Besides that nonstick surface does scrape off sometimes and thats not good either. And those stainless pans will last you for the rest of your lives, I use a scotch brite pad on them and they come out shiny as new.
