Well Beccy, it is better to have your man by your side if you are going to watch scary movies, but my hubby does not much care for them, so I end up watching them by myself. But like Dan, after watching all the scary movies with all the different kinds of villians and aliens, yes we know how to take care of them if we ever see any of them.

I'm glad to hear that it is going well for Sweetheart and you, see she will settle in nicely, it just takes time to get used to new surroundings. You are doing very well with her already and I know you are going to make an excellent parront to her. Do whatever you have to to insure the safety of Sweetheart, you don't want any harm to come to her from the kitten but in time it will be better for they will be more used to each other. Thanks for the informative update, you do a great job of keeping us informed of the progress of your new flock member and keep up the good work, you are doing a wonderful job.

Where did you hear this that chillies causes them to have asthma, for I haven't heard anything about it?

Well Tari, I am so sorry you had a bad experience with Curves, but I have been pleased with it and the women who come to it and the ones who run it, they have all been very nice to me. And your husband does you no good when he does not support you in your efforts to either lose weight and or get more exercise, my husband does support my decision and he needs to do it also for he is overweight also. I checked out that link and if that helps you Tari then I am all for it, I see that there are a lot of other topics that may interest others here too, but whatever works is what you should do. We all need support from others when we undertake a lifestyle change, I have my friends and my family to help me but there is nothing wrong with getting that help from wherever it may come as long as it works for you. Thanks for sharing that link with us, I am sure some of the members here will check into it and maybe use it for help.

Thanks Tari for sharing that story with us and don't hesitate to share more with us as they come along. I am so glad that you feel more connected to Que and I'm sure she loves you, she just needed the right means of showing it. And its not silly at all, it's the small things that bring out some of the most loving emotions in us and I would have done the same thing. Here's hoping there is lots more to tell in the future.

Well thats what we are here for to help each other in any way we can even if it does not have anything to do with greys. Thanks for letting us know why you wanted to know and I hope you get the one you want.

LMG gives you about the right age but it does depend on the individual bird, some take longer and some not. Yours probably should not be weaned yet, are you still handfeeding him? Why don't you introduce yourself in the welcome room and tell us a little more about you and this new baby of yours.

Thanks, Beccy for sharing that with us, I loved it.

Siobha9, you should join Curves, it is an exercise regimen that uses different pieces of equipment that works on various parts of the body and stepping stations between each one. You go around in a circle alternating between the equipment and the stepping stations and it is fast paced with music. It tells you every time you move to the next station and you go two complete rounds, but I do three because I want to. They do a weigh in and measure you on your first visit and then every month they do it again to track your progress. I just completed my third week and will get weighed on the 8th of November and measured again. I know there will be some weight loss and inches because I have been consistent with my routine. I also walk 2.5 or better miles on the days I don't go to Curves and I just purchased an elliptical machine to further enhance my exercise choices. And you make friends with the other women who come and some of them you might already know and we chat while we work out, in fact I saw one of my sisters that has been coming for 2 years this past Saturday morning and I don't see her that often. You won't regret coming and you can go at it as hard as you like or not, thats up to you.

I hope you can get some help for your grey, MrsMQ, it sounds like he is very serious and I hope he gets the help he needs before it is too late. Keep us informed.

What a lovely picture of Sweetheart, and she certainly lives up to her name, and she is probably tired from that long ordeal with the plane so give her a little time and she is a beauty all right.
-
Very cute little babies, Shazbaby, from your avatar, but I hope you can get some pics in the post so we can have a better look at the babies.

Md2020, we would like to hear your response to this thread you started, and I know you are not going to like it but you made a big mistake getting your grey and if you do decide to find him a new home, for God's sake make sure it is to someone who will love and cherish him like he deserves to be. I just can't comprehend how you can just get rid of a creature that you hand raised and is bonded to you, its like getting rid of your own child just because it didn't turn out quite like you imagined. You are definitely not a bird person and please don't get any more birds that may end up as disposible like your grey.

I have heard of Tazewell, Virginia, can't say I have ever been there but I know where it is, glad to have someone from my home state as a member. I'll just bet you do have a lot of pictures to share and I figured that when with your first post you included lots of pics, bring them on we would love to see them.

Hello and welcome to the family, Court87, glad you could join us and we look forward to hearing more stories of the life and times of Mikey. I am so glad to hear you did your research before purchasing your grey, I only wish everyone who contemplates getting one would do the same, I think it would cut down on the number of birds that have to be rescued and rehomed. If you have any specific questions, please feel free to ask us and we will do our best to get you an answer and help you in any way we can. If you have any pictures of Mikey you would like to share with us we would love to see him, we love to admire each other's greys.

Josey loves to be scratched about on her neck and such but will tolerate touching on other parts of her body, she does not bite but will push you away from those parts she does not want messed with.
-
Thanks, Tracy for the information on sweet potatoes, I knew they were good for us and our greys and now I know they are better than I had previously expected. Keep up the good work, Tracy.

I concur with the others on this matter, she just needs time to adjust to a new home after spending 14 hours on a plane. Just give her some space and let her know you are there and talk to her and show her you are not going to harm her. You may indeed have to clip another feather on each wing if she still flys real well at this point but like Beccy said just keep putting her back on her perch and eventually she will learn she is to stay there. Just have patience my dear, you are doing the right things and you are being a good mother, a very doting mother. Keep us informed.
-
Ditto to what the others have said, report him and let him know that if he continues to feather pluck he won't be much of a draw now will he. I hope you can get him, he deserves a loving home.
-
Connie as soon as you get those pictures you post them here for us to see, we have an ongoing saga here with the macaw from birth to the day she comes home.
-
Lisa that is it exactly what I got and 99.8% is almost pure juice and I have used it and no harm from it, the other two ingredients are food preservatives but I believe they are safe, at least I know the citric acid is and in the small amounts the sodium benzoate is also.
-
By jove I think you got it Beccy, now it won't be bugging you.

Hello and welcome to the family, Krutsingd, glad you decided to join our greyt forum and we look forward to hearing more about you and your two greys. That is so wonderful that you still want to learn more about greys even though you have had one for 5 years and another one for 8 months. You could probably tell us a few things we don't already know, but if you have specific questions you want to ask then you came to the right place. We love answering questions and helping members with their problems and we will do what we can to help you. Take your time and read thru our many threads on some interesting topics on greys for lots of useful information. If you have any pictures you would like to share with us, we would love to see your greys, we really do love to admire each other's birds. BTW, what is the names of your greys and did you get them as babies or were they rescues or rehomed ones?
-
I would recommend budgies, keets, cockatiels or even conures are good ones to start with. I personally have a sun conure that was my first parrot and she is different from the grey in lots of ways. Then later if you still want to get a grey then you will be better prepared for the larger bird, just don't rush into getting a grey until you get all the facts you need to know. I'm really not trying to talk you out of getting a grey if that is what you want, but since you have never had any kind of bird before, a grey does not make a good first choice. If and when you do decide to purchase a grey we will help you in any way we can but I just ask you make sure that is really what you want to do before you take the plunge for the bird's sake.

I am about 1 1/2 hours from Blacksburg also, I am about 30 miles north of Roanoke. Visiting him many times will help with the bonding process and soon he will be home with you and you can enjoy him and bond with him nicely. Wonderful pictures you shared with us, can't wait to see more of him.
