  1. Oh of course he is curious about the newcomer, you might want to keep in mind that Navi was there first so you might want to do things for him before the new one so he knows he is the No 1 bird:P
  2. Dan you better watch how many liberties you take, we are keeping an eye on you:laugh: Thanks 2girls for the link, very interesting.
  3. We are a special bunch of bird people, us grey lovers and we understand each other so if you have any questions you want to ask or just to chat with others like you this is the place so don't be shy.:cheer:
  4. Thanks Mark for posting that again, I have seen it before and it is a beautiful shot of a hummer. When we were adding on a new room several years ago as it was just under roof the openings where the windows and the french doors would be we had hummingbirds come flying thru those openings. Later just after the windows were put in and before the door went up they would attempt to zip thru and slammed into the windows and then were trapped inside. I don't know how many times I had to rescue them and put them back outside and one sort of knocked itself out for a bit. I picked it up and held it, they are so tiny and weigh practically nothing but soon it came around and flew off. As soon as the door went up it remained closed so no more of them would try that stunt again. I have one feeder right outside the kitchen window and sometimes one will sit on the feeder perch and as it turns its head those feathers on the throat shimmer that red color if it is a Rufus male. They truly are little jewels.

    tea??

You truly are his slave then if you get him his warm water, the things we do for our greys, they do have us wrapped around their talons don't they, the little buggers.
  6. Hello Ria and welcome to the family, so glad you found us and we look forward to hearing more about you, Navi and your as yet unnamed baby grey. Wow most of us only have the pleasure of one grey but you have two and from the gist of your post you have two very socialized greys. You are very lucky to have both of these birds as a lot of us have greys that are not so friendly to strangers. My Josey will not go to anyone, she is leery of anyone but me, she tolerates my hubby but she won't step up for him. Take a little time and read thru the many threads for lots of useful information and do not hesitate to ask questions, you already have by the way. We will do our best to get you some anwers and help you in any way we can. If you have some pictures of Navi and this new baby you would like to share with us we would love to see them, we love looking at other's greys and especially the babies, they are so adorable.
  7. Hello Steve and welcome to the family, so glad you decided to join us and we look forward to hearing more about you and Misty. Misty sounds lovely and we all believe our greys are very smart indeed and they certainly keep us entertained with their talking and mimicing of daily sounds from the household. You must either work from home or are able to leave her out with someone during the day if he only uses his cage for sleeping. Some of us don't have this luxury but I do occasionally take my Josey to work with me but otherwise she spends her day in her cage as I work away from home. But the minute I get home she is out for the evening. Take a little time and read thru the many threads for lots of useful information and do not hesitate to ask questions you may have, we will do our best to get you some answers and help you in any way we can. If you have any pictures of Misty you would like to share with us we would love to see him, if you hadn't noticed before we love pics here.
  8. Congrats on bringing home your second grey baby, I know you are tickled to death with him. Ria you should quarantine the new baby away from Navi for at least 6 weeks, this is just standard procedure when introducing a new member of the flock. They both will need separate cages and it is highly likely that they won't get along with one another but tolerate each other. You may never be able to put them together in the same cage but you should be able to have them in the same room without any problem, you will just have to wait and see. We do have some threads that deal with this sort of thing, just do a search to find them and read thru for lots of ideas and suggestions. Why don't you introduce yourself in the welcome room and tell us a little more about you and your greys.
  9. Oh my Heather, Harrison did have a good time and what a flyer, I love that shot of her coming in for a landing, thanks for sharing them with us.
  10. (quote) When I spray her with aloe juice after the water misting, I feed her pine nuts. This seems to ease the indignity of it all for her, and she's learned to associate being washed with yummy treats. (quote) Thats a very good idea Spooky, teach them to associate the treats with allowing a bath.
  11. Gosh Tracy what a wonderful thread you started here with the babies, I love all these pics of the adorable baby greys.

    treats?

Josey will do just about anything for cheese, when we get the package of shred cheese out for our salads she almost climbs all over herself to get some of it:laugh:
  13. Yes they are more sensitive to those types of things than we are so a very small amount can cause them problems when it wouldn't bother us. Some greys stress out more than others and if you stress out in the process that will only intensify that in them as they react to our reactions.
  14. They are so beautiful for such a small bird and I do live in the country so I have lots of them sometimes half a dozen at the same time zipping thru the air chasing each other. I love them so much I have a tattoo of one on my leg:P
  15. Ah Dan you might get an after picture but not a before pic from me, sorry:blush:
  16. Try taking her into the shower with you, she might surprise you and like it, some members here have greys that love the shower. She is a beauty but it does look like she over preens.
  17. Since she seems to be acting normal now it might have just been the stress of the bath itself. I hadn't heard of bird shampoo before but I guess it could help with a plucking problem, thanks for sharing the link so we can read about it.
  18. Only you Dave {Feel-good-0002006E}
  19. Why would you use bird shampoo, I have never heard of such a thing, the only thing you need to use is water an/or the aloe vera juice. I guess it is possible that you didn't get all of the fantastik off your sink and she ingested it, probably wouldn't take a lot for such a small animal, but since she seems fine now I think she will be ok. Just keep an eye on her to make sure she continues to act normal but be a little more careful next time. I know she hates bathing but she really needs a bath at least twice a week, a good soaking to wet the skin and get the dust off of her.
  20. Grapes don't offer much nutritionally either so limit them, offer veggies and other fruits. Josey does not get any kind of chips or salted foods as I don't even have a chip in the house, I am watching what I eat but you shouldn't go giving Chloe all that junk food just because you are eating it. Now cut that out. B)
  21. Lovelylew continue to be patient, we don't preach that here for nothing but some greys just do not like much touching and some just love to be petted almost anywhere and I guess you can figure which group Obi falls in:dry:
  22. She is and I love her to death, no problem as I love helping others.
  23. The really funny one is where she mimics my laugh, she does it better than I can, and I had a cold a while back and she can do a real good cough and sneeze.
  24. James I don't know where you are from but if it is the US then here is a link of where you can purchase the oil http://www.swansonvitamins.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/ProductDisplay?storeId=10001&langId=-1&catalogId=10051&SourceCode=INT999&productId=16591&R=1003&keyword=red+palm+oil&Ntt=red+palm+oil&Ntk=Level1&productDropBox=null&Ntx=mode%2Bmatchallpartial&N=4294967175&brandDropBox=null&healthConcernDropBox=null I personally mix it in Joesy's oatmeal I fix for her for breakfast and I also mix in a little baby food veggies like squash, sweet potatoes or carrots and she eats it from a spoon.
