That looks like excited play to me, if she was scared of it she would take flight away from it in a second, you should go back to giving her them to play with and take some more pics to share with us.
Their natural instinct is to take flight if scared and she didn't as is evident in the photo, btw, thanks for sharing that with us.
Yay I finally see pics of Pooky, you finally succeeded in getting your photos to post, but one is very large, maybe you can adjust that to a smaller size like the others, but thanks for sharing them with us Jackie:P B)
Madi you would be surprised at what others have done to their birds either out of ignorance or just for the fun of it, makes me sick:sick:
Actually I wouldn't rule out the shower thing completely at this point, take her with you when you get in the shower and put her on the rod or something close by and see what her reaction is, she may just try getting in the water like Kitt's did, it may take a while but it's worth a shot.
Thats a very good point and I think that is why I have no trouble getting Josey back into her cage, she spends some of the time I am home in her cage, she is not out the whole time I am home. And some of the time when she is out of the cage she is back inside either playing or getting a snack or a drink. That way she does not associate me being home to mean she is out all the time.
And I have never had her to refuse to go back into her cage, I just put her in and it is usually forwards, it just seems easier that way and she never grabs ahold of the cage to try to prevent it.
Calvin don't take any offense to my remark, I was just kidding with you:laugh: I like to inject a little humor into the mess sometimes. :woohoo:
Well if you don't mind the bill being several hundred dollars you could go for the complete workup, but yes there are different tests they can do and you really should find an avian vet for a regular vet who sees any kind of animal just won't do, they don't know enough.
Is this the same cage she had before or a different one? I would say they never let her out so now she does not want to go inside for fear she will be left there, but in time she may get over that.
That was the correct way of course, and you can also try putting a bowl of water on the bottom of her cage and see if she will bathe in it.
Did you tell her you were going to do it before you actually did it, they like to be warned beforehand.
I know its only been a couple of days but how many fingers you have now:ohmy: and is it getting any easier to towel her? I don't look forward to having to do the same to Josey when or if the occasion warrants it.
Have you tried taking him into the shower and getting him soaked that way, some greys love a good shower, mine tolerates it but it gets them wet and that helps with their skin. Then you can finish off with an aloe vera juice spray to soften the skin and feathers.
Bobby is a handsome chap isn't he and he looks pleased with himself now that he is home and on the road to recovery. His plucking doesn't look that bad and maybe he will forget about it and not do it anymore.
Yes you can give yourself a big sigh of relief that the worst is behind you now and he will continue to improve as the days and weeks go by.
Thanks so much for sharing that pic of Bobby with us and I look forward to seeing another in a week or so as he will be practically beaming with glee.
Well Happy Hatchday to Bella yesterday, glad to hear she is doing great but of course she has to chase Jiggy around, what fun that must be for her:laugh: :woohoo:
Yes indeed, be very happy it is a toy that receives that aggression:blink:
Tracy it had to be one of the females that is aggressive to her toys huh, wonder why:whistle:
She could be going thru a molt but have you taken her in to see an avian vet yet? I would do that first to make sure she is healthy and doesn't have any problems and he/she may be able to give you some answers. Then let us know what you find out:)
One thing you might keep in mind is if he was there before the other pets you mention he might have a problem with being put first. Some greys need to be put first if they were there first. I have a sun conure and a grey but the conure was my first parrot so I feed her first and everything else first so she knows her place.
He probably sees himself at the head of the flock with the other pets as part of the flock even though they aren't birds but in his mind he comes first so you may have to adjust accordingly.
The plucking, if he has been doing this for a long time is going to be hard to break him of, they get into a habit with it and is almost impossible to get them out of it but we will help you with it all we can.
Both Tracy and Dan have given you some excellent advice.
Why don't you introduce yourself in the welcome room and tell us a little more about you and your grey.
I just about busted a gut on this one, you two are a hoot and I only hope that if the two of you ever meet that I can be there to join in the fun and mayhem that would ensue:laugh: PMSL:woohoo:
Josey does not do this with foot toys but she does with some of the toys hanging in her cage especially her bell, she will grab it and fling it as best as she can and attack it with a vengence!!  :woohoo:
My daughter came and fixed me a filet mignon dinner with baked potatoes and salad made from spinach and radishes from my garden, then we had warm brownies fresh from the oven with ice cream on top, yummy. Then while we were putting the tomato and pepper plants in the garden my daughter-in-law cleaned off the table and did the dishes. They also gave me cards and a gift card to Belk, what a nice evening I had.
Hello Larry and welcome to the family, so glad you stumbled upon us and we look forward to hearing more about you.
So your grey is a breeder grey and not a companion grey, most of us here have pet greys as you cannot breed greys that are companion animals. We may have a few members from Michigan who may know where you can find a breeder grey if thats what you want.
Take a little time and read thru the many threads for lots of useful information and do ask questions if you have any and we will do our best to find some answers and help you in any way we can.
I never had much use for a fish tank, I just never cared that much about them, but my mother-in-law used to have a big aquarium with huge goldfish in them before she passed away. Just something else to have to clean out so I never bothered with one, but I do enjoy seeing other's tanks.
