  1. Michelle, you get whatever bird you want for yourself because there is no guarantee that even if you get another grey it will get along with Adanna. I kinda lean toward another grey but it is your decision.
  2. Hello Scott and welcome to the family, so glad you found us and we look forward to hearing more about you and getting that grey you want. You are doing exactly the right thing, find out all you can before you make the final plunge, you need to know what to expect but when you do finally get one you will understand how we all feel about our greys. Now that we have them we don't know how we got along without them before. Please read thru the many threads for lots of useful information and do not hesitate to ask any and all questions you may have and we will help you in any way we can.
  3. I am very impressed Amberly, Maggie's book was one of the first grey books I bought and it doesn't surprise me that she is very nice and you have her to thank for having Woody:)
  4. Your talents of photography are apparent in your pics of Harrison, she is a supergrey, thanks for sharing those pics and links with us.
  5. Hello Animalspirit and welcome to the family, so glad you could join us and we look forward to hearing more about you and your grey. That is a lovely story about how the grey got it's red tail, one of our members shared it with us but I don't remember who the author is. What is the name of your grey? You have many birds, just what other kinds of parrots do you have besides the grey? Take a little time and read thru the many threads for lots of useful information and do not hesitate to ask any and all questions you may have and we will help you in any way we can. Would you share some pictures of your parrots with us, we have an other birds room where you can put the others.
  6. Thats cutting her down to size, on the playstand I mean:blush: yep a little lower can make a big difference. Good luck with your surgery tomorrow, hope it all goes well and you are able to be back chatting with us soon.
  7. Hello Jlandsiedel and welcome to the family, so glad you could join us and we look forward to hearing more about you and Juliet. Congrats on your first bird and also a grey, you will find out that they are amazing creatures and you will soon find out that you wonder how you survived without one for so long. I have to echo the other's words of caution on allowing your 2 year old to handle Juliet, she is a sweet baby ringht now but that could change at any time and I would hate for your daughter to suffer a disfigurement from it. Children generally are too quick of movement and too loud, greys get nervous when they are around even though they share the same household. Please read thru the many threads for lots of useful information and do ask any and all questions you may have and we will help you in any way we can. Do you have any pictures of Juliet you would share with us, we would love to see her.
  8. Hello Rue and welcome to the family, so glad you could finally join us and quit lurking:laugh: we look forward to hearing more about you and your Tag, opps sorry you said a Cag, silly me:laugh: You have had birds for a long time and a good selection too and now you have a grey, a Cag to be precise and this one is special as you can tell. Take a little time and read thru the many threads for lots of useful information and do not hesitate to ask any and all questions you may have and we will help you in any way we can. Would you share some pictures of your grey with us, we love to look at pics.
  9. Well welcome back Digital, long time no see, I have missed you on the site, please find time for us you hear, I want to see some more pictures of Nike.:cheer: B)

  11. That is great that he is almost weaned Bronx, you have done a good job then if he is eating his veggies and other stuff. I second Suzanne's request, can we get some pictures, we want to see:whistle:
  12. Hello Retronut and welcome to the family, so glad you have decided to join us and we look forward to hearing more about you and your need for a grey. Hope you have a mouthful for you are gonna need it, first the bird then cage, toys, food, treats, vet bills, I could go on and on but I think you get the picture. You cam to the right place to ask questions, we encourage all our members to ask any and all questions, even if you think it is a silly one, we don't care, if it concerns our greys no question is too silly. You will find lots of information in our many threads so do read thru them at your leisure and we will help you in any way we can.
  13. Thats great to hear Mary, thanks for letting us know Simon is fine, yay:laugh:
  14. WOW!! Pat she is adorable, I have never cared much for tiels but this one is gorgeous, I love the long tail on this one, well congrats are in order and I know you are going to enjoy her, thanks for sharing her with us.
  15. Hello Hondaman and welcome to the family, so glad you could join us and we look forward to hearing more about you and Oscar. I have a sun conure named Sunny also, she is getting close to 4 years old now and a little clown and she has taken a nap with me occasionally, she will just crawl up beside my neck and be quiet as a church mouse. You have certainly come to the right place for some information on greys and you will find lots of it in our many threads so read thru them and do ask any and all questions you may have and we will help you in any way we can. Would you be so kind as to share some pictures of Oscar with us as we would love to see him and you can also share some of Sunny too, we have an other birds room.
  16. OMG Erika, I am surprised to hear of this and I am afraid I have no quick answer for you either. I am just about as puzzled as you are. He bit after he stepped up on his hand, that indicates that he was not against stepping up so was anything different about your husband that could account for Baxter's different attitude upon stepping up? Baxter is an older bird, it could be something to do with sexual maturity, I don't have any experience with that so some of the other members who have greys old enough may be able to help in that aspect. I know your hubby is hesitant to have much more to do with Baxter but he needs to not back down or show fear for Baxter will feed off of that and maybe bite more. I'm sorry Erika that I can't be of more help but I have limited experience but I do know who would and that is Dave. I will pm Dave and have him take a look at your thread and give you some advice.
  17. Thats great that you are keeping her updated on his progress, I can imagine that means the world to her and later on she can visit with him and share his love for both of you, it really is the best for all involved. Simon is one lucky grey to have all of you caring for him.:cheer:

  19. Oh yeah any top with buttons or anything on it is game for them, I have a bunch of old t-shirts that I wear around the house all the time, the neckline is all chewed up and there are holes in the shirt everywhere and if one poops on it, no problem, I just change into another one and throw it in the wash. BTW, I wouldn't wear any earrings around them either unless you want them ripped from the lobes.
  20. That top with the sequins on it may have to be reserved for away from home outings, to not be worn around Simon since he seems to have a fascination with them. I know that wild birds do eat small stones and such to aid in the grinding up of seeds and such that they eat but this is your child and so you are concerned but I bet he did not ingest any of it, he probably broke it up into several pieces that fell out unnoticed but keep an eye on him to make sure.
  21. If I was you I wouldn't clip his wings at all, it is your decision of course but a lot of us here at this forum leave our greys full feathered so they can fly around the house and some even take theirs outside on a harness for exercise. I know his former owner misses him terribly but she can rest easy that he has such a good loving home now.
  22. I doubt he swallowed it especially if he is acting perfectly fine but you might give a call to your avian vet to see if you should be concerned. I don't know where you are located but most have emergency numbers where you can reach someone that may be able to help. Sorry I can't be of more help to you but keep an eye on him for the next day or two.
  23. A boing is a must for a grey, I have one hanging in Josey's cage and she stays on it a lot, I need to get another one and hang somewhere else for her to play on.
  24. Why don't you introduce yourself in the welcome room and tell us a little more about you and this red factor grey.
  25. Its what we call a red factor grey, some greys have red feathers in among the grey that may or may not molt out but it is nothing to be alarmed about, it is only feather coloring and does not harm them in any way.
