  1. Beautiful birds Sanggay, absolutely stunning photos, you are so lucky to be able to go and see these creatures and many thanks for sharing them with us. {Love-000200BF}
  2. Hello Gazbhoy and welcome to the family, so glad you could join us and we look forward to hearing more about you and your new to you grey. BTW, what is his name? Since you just brought him home today give him some time to settle in, he is in a new environment, new owner and everything is overwhelming to him at the moment. Once he starts feeling more comfortable then he will be more like his lovely self. It does take time to build the bond and he has to come to trust you to do that so be very patient with him. Do you have any other birds? I know you are excited about this new addition and I know you are in for a lifetime of happiness, I remember the day I brought my grey home, oh what memories. Please take some time and read thru the many threads, you will find lots of useful information there and do ask any and all questions you may have and we will help you in any way we can. Do you have any pictures of this grey, if so please share some with us as we would love to see them.
  3. Hello Tracie and welcome to the family, so glad you could join us and we look forward to hearing more about you and Tucker. Well it looks like Dave has already provided you with some excellent advice and if anyone here is knowledgeable enough it is Dave, he won't steer you wrong. You will also find lots of useful information in our many threads and do not hesitate to ask any and all questions you may have and we will help you in any way we can. Do you have any pictures of Tucker you would share with us, we would love to see him and we have an other birds room where you can put some of Sarge too.
  4. I am afraid you are gonna find out that he won't shut up now that he has broken the barrier:laugh: just kidding:lol:  Congrats on ZZero uttering his first words and it is so much fun listening to your grey chatting and talking to hear what new words he speaks, enjoy:cheer:
  5. Sorry you have a migraine, know how they feel, sounds like you have a busy life but never boring Penny. I am getting ready to leave work then going grocery shopping then home with dinner, picking it up on the way home, then spending more time here chatting with my friends, going to be a cold evening.
  6. Yes it would if you realize that rescues sometimes come with baggage but most of them make excellent pets, be sure to read the threads in the rescue room, you will find lots of helpful information and some of our members have taken in rescues and had much success with them. Thanks so much for considering this option.
  7. Roger that is the bare eyed cockatoo, isn't it very pretty.
  8. danmcq wrote: [quote Heck, I have got a wild conure from hell that just makes me laugh constantly and I wouldn't trade him for the world. He does come and take a treat anytime one is offered. He is one of the family and would be greatly missed if anything ever happened to him. Love is always or should be, unconditional when it comes to bringing home any critter. Conures are like that, my sun conure is not wild but she rules, she can be the sweetest thing and then zap, she can be very feisty, just let her get ahold of something and try to take it away from her, she will nail you in a heartbeat but I love her to death.
  9. I don't know where you are from but if in the USA you can purchase the juice at Walmart in the pharmacy section, its 100% pure aloe vera juice and is harmless but does help the skin and feathers to be softer and more supple. You can use it straight from the bottle, no dilution is necessary. Its always a good idea to have them vet checked if you are having an issue and they haven't been in a while, costs money but peace of mind is priceless.
  10. Hello Bea and welcome to the family, so glad you have finally joined us and we look forward to hearing more about you and your flock. How wonderful you want to add another grey to your flock, yes a Cag would be a nice addition, I have a Cag myself and we do have a lot of members who have both but one thing is for certain, we all love them equally and dearly. As you already know we do have lots of useful information in our many threads so continue to read them and do not hesitate to ask any and all questions you may have and we will help you in any way we can. If you have some pictures of your grey you would like to share with us we would love to see them and we have an other birds room where you can share some of them if you like.
  11. If he hasn't been to see an avian vet for a while it might be a good idea to have him checked out just to be on the safe side. All greys are individuals so yes clipping and trimming the nails might have affected him to stop vocalizing but if he is eating and drinking and otherwise fine then I wouldn't worry too much about it. Do you give him regular baths? Greys benefit from at least 2 or 3 good soakings a week especially in the wintertime when the air in the house is drier from the heat. Also a good soaking with aloe vera juice is soothing for them and helps make the skin more supple, he might be itchy from the dryness. Now why don't you make an introduction post in the welcome room and tell us a little more about you and your grey, like what is his name?
  12. You are right, one week is not nearly long enough to gain his trust and each grey is different, they each have their own personality, the one you got now is not like the one you lost. He is going to view his cage as his safety net and that is fine but you are going to have to work on gaining his trust and you do that by day to day talking to him, playing with some of his toys in front of him and giving him treats. We do have a lot of threads here that will help you with gaining his trust and a lot of other things so please read thru as many as you can for lots of useful information. We have a lot of knowledgeable members who will chime in with their ideas and suggestions but the main thing is time and patience, I can't stress that enough. BTW, welcome to the family and share some pictures of your new baby if you have some.
  13. Hello Lu and welcome to the family, so glad you could join us and we look forward to hearing more about you and Niko. I'm so glad to hear you rescued him from the situation he was in, no animal should have to live like that and you are doing exactly what you should do to help him. You have already been given some excellent advice but we do have one member who will be able to give you a better insight into what more you can do to help him. Poor thing probably doesn't see his cage as the safe haven that most greys do, if he was a prisoner in his for so long he probably only has bad memories and mistreatment and that will take a lot of time to erase if at all. Keep doing what you are doing, it may seem like you are not accomplishing much but you are, greys are slow to take to changes and he certainly has baggage but you are enriching his life so much. You will find lots of useful information in our many threads so read thru them at your leisure and do not hesitate to ask any and all questions you may have and we will help you in any way we can. If you have some pictures of Niko you would like to share with us we would love to see him, feathers or no feathers, we see the beauty that shines thru.
  14. Hello JustSarge and welcome to the family, so glad you have joined us and we look forward to hearing more about you and Sarge. Don't worry about asking dumb questions, we have all been in your shoes at one time or another and you can't find the answer if you don't first ask the question. If your vet does not think anything is wrong, all his tests came back normal, he is eating and playing well then I wouldn't worry about it. I cannot know what kind of noises he makes unless I hear it but they all make different noises and sounds and I would imagine what you are hearing is normal for him. What you are hearing may very well be his version of growling, maybe he doesn't want to be picked up or held close but I would take the growling any day to being bit. For lots more information do read thru the many threads here and do ask questions and we will help you in any way we can. If you have any pictures of Sarge you would like to share with us we would love to see him.
  15. Great pictures Sanggay, how lucky are you to have a place to go visit these birds and you take nice clear pictures, thanks for sharing them with us.
  16. Yes we do have a bunch of Charlies here but we love them all, the more the merrier. Thanks for sharing a picture of Charlie Chazzels, he is a good looking chap.
  17. If you want to put a fancy dress over your depends then by all means do it, would be interesting looking. Depends are adult diapers in case you were wondering:whistle:
  18. He's a groovy kind of guy Caroline, he would have us all rolling around on the floor laughing so hard we would all need depends to stay dry.
  19. No way we can leave Dave out of the shenigans, he would be the life of the party.
  20. Yeah and I will be there along with Caroline, both of us are married but we are up for having some fun, leave the guys at home and we will party down, yeehaw:woohoo:
  21. When you got a grey who can be lonely, they make sure of that, they keep you busy and entertained.
  22. Dohhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh:huh:
  23. danmcq wrote: Dan if you need another armed citizen to go with you just let me know, I'll be right there with ya.
  24. Well Berna you just go right ahead and do whatever makes you happy and if the Poop-off works for you then go for it but it is not a necessity to clean off the crap, actually we were having a little fun with it, you know how it is, when you can play with some poop you have the best time. :woohoo: Kimberly, you just go right ahead and enjoy your microwave popcorn, nothing to worry about there.
  25. Hello Liz and welcome to the family, so glad you have joined us and we look forward to hearing more about you and Charlie and Charlie. What a hoot, now you have two greys named Charlie, will you rename one of them or keep calling them both Charlie? You will find some threads in the Rescue room that will be of help in the transition of bringing another grey into the household. They will continue to mimic and talk but might cease for a while until the new one gets settled in. They may even become friends but don't force anything, just let them decide whether they will or not or what kind of relationship they will have with one another. Please read thru the many threads for lots of useful information and do not hesitate to ask any and all questions you may have and we will help you in any way we can. If you have pictures of Charlie #1 you would like to share with us we would love to see him and pics of Charlie #2 when you get him.
