Hello Rbtjawjaboy1 and welcome to the family, so glad you found us and we look forward to hearing more about you and Styx. Wow that will be nice to have an aviay for your birds, that is something I would like but have no room to devote to just the birds so mine are in the family room where all the action takes place, well most of it. Please read thru the many threads for lots of useful information and do not hesitate to ask questions you may have and we will help you in any way we can. If you have any pictures of Styx you would like to share with us we would love to see him/her and we have an other birds room where you can share some of Happy too if you like.

Hello DaveK and welcome to the family, so glad you could join us and we look forward to hearing more about you and this new grey you are getting. I see from your introduction you have had a conure, I have a sun conure and she is spoiled rotten and they are like little clowns, she loves nothing better than to be on my shoulder all the time and she does the darndest acrobatics to try to get into what I am doing. Like me you are at a point in life where the kids are gone, at least most of them for you and you have more time to devote to enjoying one of these amazing creatures and providing the love and attention they need and thrive on. You will find lots of useful information in our many threads, do read thru them at your leisure and do not hesitate to ask any and all questions you may have and we will help you in any way we can. Its nice to have another member here from Virginia but we do have members from all around the world, thats what the internet does is make it possible to make friends with anyone anywhere. -
That'l work too:lol:

OMG, Dave has been up to his shenigans again, this is good stuff and funny as heck, thanks for sharing that with us to give us a good laugh, now behave yourself.
-
Kimberly, you need some vet wrap on it to keep it from being so slippery but it is a good looking stand, you should look thru the threads as we have some here that are real works of art. Give your Dad, I mean Santa, a big hug and kiss.
-
Tango should be eating some pellets as they are a part of their diet, I have pellets available for Josey all the time, have you tried putting some apple juice over them and see if he will eat some that way. We have a bird food room that has a lot of threads with excellent ideas and suggestions for offering a healthier diet for your grey.

Hello James and welcome to the family, so glad you could finally start posting since you have been a member since 7/30/2007, thats a long time to be a member and not post anything, but we do look forward to hearing more about you and Echo. You must have joined about the time you got Echo and then got busy with life with Echo but we won't hold that against you so join in and become an active member, make some new friends and have a little fun along the way. You will find lots of useful information in our many threads so read thru them at your leisure and do not hesitate to ask any and all questions you may have and we will help you in any way we can. She has quite a vocabulary too, she is smart but then I haven't met one that wasn't, have you? Echo is a lovely looking Cag, thanks for sharing a pic of her with us, now we don't have to ask for it.

I plan on celebrating at home in front of the fire, a big margarita in one hand and maybe some popcorn in the other while I fall asleep in front of the boob tube!! {Communicate-000200D5}

Dave has posted that picture before but it always cracks me up every time I see it, now how many dogs do you think would allow that, thanks for sharing that pic with us again Dave.

I just wanted to let you alexandrine guys know that Pat is still around but she doesn't come on as often or for long as I have seen her post in other threads, guess she is just busy with the holidays and family. You all just keep talking about your birds and maybe one day you will have me convinced to get me one of them, maybe I said.

Allright, things are going well for you and Zeus, I knew it would if you just give it a little time and some pictures would be great.

My conure hates my grey, Josey does not much care what Sunny does but Sunny would like nothing better than for Josey to just leave the premises but it ain't happening so I keep them a safe distance from one another. I don't have any other pets in the house anymore after I lost my cat earlier this year, the two dogs we have stay outside, have been thinking of getting another cat but haven't yet, maybe not.

Wow I like that name for Jacque, Giacomo Casinova, sounds Italian, is it? Sassy is one fat cat huh, got any pictures of that? Yeah I have seen big dogs run from a small cat, just depends on the personality of the cat and I have seen some ferocious ones that know how to use what they have. Thats wonderful that you could rescue this dog from his pitiful existence but there are people out there that will mistreat animals and I would like to turn the tables on them and see how they like it. -
I'm not bragging but Josey has never bitten me, she does occasionally nudge me with her beak and I get the message. She has grabbed a hold of me but has never clamped down enough to hurt much less break the skin. I know my days are numbered before I officially join the Parrot Bite Me Club but I guess she gets her point across without resorting to biting me and that is just fine with me. Thats it, a little pressure maybe but no pain, hope my luck holds out:whistle:

Well he hasn't gotten to maturity yet, I have been told you can expect to see some changes in him then due to the hormonal surges that will take place but yes I forgot he is not exactly a baby anymore at three. My Josey is 2 and 1/2 years old and I have not seen much change in her, some say they go thru a terrible two's stage but I haven't seen it, but I can expect to see some changes when she nears maturity which won't be for a couple more years yet for her.

Thats ok Brittany and you will find lots of useful information there. We have lots of rooms now, we used to only have 3 or 4 but the newer admins changed all that, what an awesome place this is now compared to when I first came here in May 2007, awesome:cheer:  B)

I would go easy on the steak, they shouldn't have much red meat, chicken or turkey would be a better choice for meat, maybe some fish. They can have a lot of what we eat, just be careful to stay away from salted or fat laden foods. We do have some lists of good foods to offer and a list of forbidden foods in the bird food room, take a cruise thru there for them and use them as a guideline for what you may offer.

Isn't it amazing what they can do anymore, imagine swallowing a mini camera to take pictures inside the intestional tract. I think I remember you saying before she is a cancer survivor and 8 years is good, very good but sorry to hear that she is anemic, I hope they find out something and can help her get better. I can sympathize with the regime she had to go thru and you are being a sweet man to understand for you never know when you might be in her shoes one day. I wish her well and let us know Dan for we care about you and Kim, I miss her here on the forum but that is another story.

I seem to recall we have had at least one other member who said their grey would do this, sleep upside down in their food bowl and very soundly too in fact. I wouldn't worry about it if he has a clean bill of health from his vet, its just a quirky thing that a few of them obviously do, they are all individuals so the behavior does not surprise me. Maybe since you moved his cage to where he is more into the action he is staying awake longer at night and then he needs to nap more during the day to make up for it, just an idea from this rambling head of mine.
-
Dan is right, they do waste a lot of what is offered to them but they do not overeat. Any extra weight they may put on is because they are fed lots of seeds and nuts that have a higher fat content, if they are fed a healthy diet with fruits and vegetables included then you have nothing to worry about. I leave food like pellets available in Josey's cage at all times just so she can have them when she wants them and if she wants a midnight snack then she can have it.

Hello Lady_Jodie and welcome to the family, so glad you could join us and we look forward to hearing more about you and Jacque. You have a zoo but just what all kinds of animals do you have, I would be interested to hear what they are, most of us here are animal lovers besides being nuts for our greys. Tell us some more about Jacque, how long have you had him, how old is he and so forth, so we can get better understand him. You will find lots of useful information in our many threads so read thru them at your leisure and do not hesitate to ask any and all questions you may have and we will help you in any way we can. We would love to see some pictures of Jacque if you have some you would share with us and we have an other birds room where you can share some of any other birds you may have. -
Thanks for the great update on Zeus and I always enjoy hearing about a grey who loves their baths, keep up the good work and don't stay away for so long, we miss you and another video or some more pictures would be welcomed also if you have any more to share with us.
