  1. I'll be waiting Steph and I can understand your nerves, its like having a human baby, you are so concerned and rightly so.
  2. Debbie, you cannot put two greys in the same cage, they may get along but more than likely not. I would give them their own separate cages and then if they do get along thats great but keep them separate. They are flock animals but a grey can get possessive of their own cage and may not like to share it with another grey even if they do get along. If you bring this other grey into your house you will have to quarantine it from the other one for at least 6 to 8 weeks to make sure it is not harboring any illnesses or diseases. We do have a lot of threads that will give you some information on why you don't house them together so just do a search to find them. Why don't you introduce yourself in the welcome room and tell us a little more about you and your grey.
  3. Just like us humans we vary in our bone structure and they do too, some weigh only 375grams and they can go to a little over 600grams so pretty much anything inbetween is normal. What you want to do is weigh Alfie every day for a while to get his average then you can do it every week to see that he maintains that weight.
  4. Hey we all have something to give, thats what makes this place so special, no one knows everything but we share what we know with everyone else.
  5. It varies from grey to grey but what matters is that the weight stays consistent, some greys weigh less and some as much as 600 grams, my Josey weighs in around 420.
  6. I have to agree with Caroline, this bump needs to be evaluated by an avian vet but I hope it turns out to be nothing to worry about, in any case please let us know what you find out. In the meantime why don't you introduce yourself in the welcome room and tell us some more about you and this new baby grey.
  7. Thanks for sharing that link with us, it has very good information in it.
  8. Hello Hk955 and welcome to the family, so glad you could finally join us after lurking around our site for a while, we don't bite but our greys might:laugh: but we look forward to hearing more about you and Hannah. I do have to say you make a good introduction, better than most and I am proud to hear you are a Marine, btw I love your signature, it says it all. You will find lots of useful information in our many threads and do not hesitate to ask any and all questions you may have and we will help you in any way we can. I see she is a lovely looking grey from the pic in your avatar but if you have some other pictures of her you would share with us we would love to see them.
  9. Hello Deanna and welcome to the family, so glad you could join us and we look forward to hearing more about you and Molly. Wow you raised Molly from a one week old chick, you must have known what you were doing to handfeed it properly but I know it made your husband a very happy man. Thats an unusual "clutchmate" a bengal kitten and them being the best of friends is very unusual, you will hqve to share a pic or two of this close relationship. You will find lots of useful information in our many threads and do not hesitate to ask any and all questions you may have and we will help you in any way we can. If you have some pictures of Molly you would like to share with us we would love to see them.
  10. Ahhh, another fun day in the life of a grey, making their owners think they are crazed or neurotic but they are just having a little fun, thanks Dave for clearing that up for us.
  11. No Msduras, save your money for toys. You need to ignore the screeching, yes I said ignore it, no reaction from you at all. You are evidently giving her some sort of attention when she screeches or she wouldn't continue to do it. Why don't you introduce yourself in the welcome room and tell us some more about you and your grey.
  12. Now that I got to hear it along with see it Pablo is adorable, chatting and whistling and being very much the grey, thanks for sharing it with us.
  13. hello Lauren and welcome to the family, so glad you could join us and we look forward to hearing more about you and Pax. So she loves to sing in the shower, what a ham and that would be wonderful to hear on a video if you have the capabilities to do that, we would love to hear it. I think you could count on most everyone here to share the same affinity for our greys, we are all a little nuts for our birds and if you read our threads you will find out just how nuts we really are. You will find lots of useful information in our many threads and do not hesitate to ask any and all questions you may have and we will help you in any way we can. I look forward to seeing some pictures of Pax when you get around to posting some.
  14. Hello Superlotto and welcome to the family, so glad you could join us and we look forward to hearing more about you and Jasper. Yes we have already read about your troubles with Jasper but we are so glad you could give him a good home where he will be loved and given the attention he deserves. He may be oven ready but he is beautiful even if he hasn't many feathers and maybe we can figure out why he is doing this and see if we can slow it down or get him to stop that behavior. You have come to the right place if looking for good information as we have loads of it in our many threads so read thru them at your leisure and do not hesitate to ask any and all questions you may have and we will help you in any way we can. If you have some pictures of Jasper you would like to share with us we would love to see him.
  15. casper wrote: My hubby does not much care for my birds, he is a hunter and he is used to shooting birds not making pets out of them. He tolerates them because I have them but he doesn't feed them or do anything for them but sometimes he does uncover them on weekends when I sleep in some. He chats with Josey from time to time but that is about it, she will take treats from him especially cheese. My daughter likes my sun conure but she doesn't much care for Josey, her beak is too big for her to be comfortable around her.
  16. Jen is right about the dead mouse and sometimes it is just parts:sick: they leave for you. Congrats on getting Cosmo to greet you by your name, usually it is their name they use.
  17. I have considered adding to my flock of two but no I guess not, hubby said no way but I don't pay any attention to what he says, I do what I want but I don't know if I would have the time to devote to another. I had an opportunity to get a peach faced conure that seems a real sweetheart but I decided against it, not because of what hubby said but that I might not have the time for another, don't want to sell myself short.

    Celebration!

Thats nice Caroline, but every day is special to me that I spend here with my good friends and they know who they are so I would have to post here every day, nah, just kidding Caroline. I love my friends here but no I won't post that everyday but I will be thinking that everyday, love ya, love ya, love ya.
  19. FIVE HOURS, jeez there has to be a quicker way, maybe some of the ones who share videos with us a lot will let you know how they do it for I haven't a clue. You don't have dial-up internet do you?

  21. Toni, our moderator of the Games room is undergoing surgery on her foot that has continued to give her problems since her auto accident last year. The bone in her foot is continuing to die little by little and her doctor wants to fuse her foot which will make it immobile and difficult to walk with. She wanted me to inform all her friends of her absence which will last at least for a week and I wanted to let you all know so you can keep her in your thoughts and prayers that everything goes as planned and she can finally put an end to her difficulties with her injuries from that horrible accident. She will be back with us as soon as she can but please add your own thoughts and well wishes to this thread so she will know how much she will be missed and we hope she will be back with us as soon as possible. A friend, Judy
  22. I haven't noticed anything like that with Josey but I don't think it is unusual for them to react that way to a particular color, I have heard it before and there are a few things in particular that Josey does not like but it is a certain thing not a color. She hates my step stool that I use to get things off my top shelf in the kitchen, I don't use it every day but when I do and she is in the kitchen she will growl, sounds horrific. Maybe Keeko is like a bull in the arena, they hate the color red too don't they, isn't that what the bullfighter uses, a red piece of clothing to make the bull mad.
  23. I can see the video but I can't hear it, bosses don't have sound on my computer at work but I will check it out when I get home for sure, but I can say that Pablo is a good looking grey.

  25. Congrats on your getting this grey and rescuing him from his prison and punishment, how anyone could be so mean to one of the magnificent creatures is beyond me but he has a good home now. You indicated he was already plucking his feathers out before you got him so it may be ingrained in him and he may never stop but maybe with some tender loving care you can stop him or at least slow it down some. The first thing I would do if you haven't already is get him a full workup by an avian vet to see if he is healthy and if there is any physical reason for his plucking. Most likely it is behavioral but you need to rule out physical first then work on the other. There are many reasons for why he is doing this and it may take some time to figure it out. Do you give him regular baths, a lot of greys will pluck if their skin itches so they need baths or spraying at least twice a week.
