    garlic ok?

I would be a little cautious of giving fresh garlic to your grey, we have a couple of threads here that have some information that it could be harmful, even one where the bird died from ingestion of fresh garlic, please do a search to find them. Sometimes it is best to err on the side of caution.
  3. That is beautiful coloring in your Tag and yes it doesn't have a maroon tail like other Tags do, thanks for sharing a picture with us.
  4. Another set of great pictures of Happy enjoying her new toy, I especially love the last one that shows her spread wing, she is a gorgeous bird, thanks for sharing them with us.
  5. Josey is alone for more than 8 hours during the week, granted she has the company of my sun conure and cockatiel but I leave the radio on while I am gone to have some background noise, they are fine, they have toys to occupy their mind and they are glad when I return and let them out. I too think since you have young children you would be better off going with a just weaned baby grey, you will still have to keep them at a distance until they learn how to behave around parrots but they could grow up with the bird so to speak.
  6. Happy Hatchday Talon, looks like Mommy was very good to you, may you have so many more happy ones to come.
  7. No offense taken as most of us are of the same opinion, thanks.
  8. Thanks Dee for the update after seeing the vet, yes you are doing exactly what you should be doing and it is working out for the best, you two make quite a team and that vet couldn't have said it better, that Kopi is a fighter but so are you, keep up the good work.
  9. Hello Tina and welcome to our family, now we have two sources to keep up with Lilly and her shenigans, I think you will find you will love it here.
  10. Tinaboom, why don't you introduce yourself in the welcome room and tell us a little more about you and thanks for sharing the picture of Lilly with us.
  11. She is proud of that new toy and showing it off in that last pic, she is adorable and thanks for sharing them with us.
  12. I just pm'd Dave007 to ask his opinion of this matter, he should be able to shed some light on your question.

    Sunnys Beak

Then it might be time you paid a visit to the avian vet to check it out, yes the beak does not stay black and shiny but that discoloration on the edge would concern me, let us know what you find out.

    Cheese Nips!!

As long as it is only an occasional treat then in moderation it is ok.
  15. I don't know about this, I buy my red palm oil from www.swansonsvitamins.com and it is semi solid form when I get it and it has to be heated to get it liquid, maybe Dave will comment on it for it seems to me there would have to be something added to make it liquid form all the time, just my opinion.
  16. Well his spunkiness is certainly good to hear, yes it makes for more trouble getting the meds into him but it means he is feeling better and that makes my day, I hope this trend continues and he improves more and more every day, way to go Kopi for keeping mommy on her toes and good luck at the vet's office today.
  17. If its what you want to do then by all means adopt this grey in need of a new forever home and yes it would need to be checked out by your avian vet and Azzie has provided some links about quarantining, please let us know what you decide to do and good luck to you.
  18. I think your grey may be sick and you should get him to an avian vet ASAP, they are masters at hiding illness so please get some help for him and let us know what you find out.
  19. How are things going with Kaleah now, please update us.
  20. Greys do like a routine and they don't much like change as you might find out if you move some furniture but do not become so set in a routine that something different freaks him/her out, vary a little from time to time. I work full time and let my fids out when I get home and then on weekends they are out most of the day and that seems to satisfy them but if you would work an evening shift then you could have them out early before going to work, you will find a solution that fits your particular situation. They do require 10 to 12 hours sleep and some of this may come during the day while everyone is gone, they can and do take naps when they feel like it. Greys are some of the quieter birds that may be more suitable for apartment living, I live out in the country and my fids could scream all they want and no one would hear them but they are fairly quiet fids.
  21. Greyt picture Kim, what a wonderful recommendation, might have to order some, yes we can always count on Adina to find good stuff for us, thanks.
  22. Some people should never be allowed to handle scissors, I can't stand it when people botch a wing clip.

    Sunnys Beak

That does look like Sunny has been doing some vigorous scraping of his beak on something rough like a cement perch, how long has it been that way, echoing Dave now, have you observed him scraping it on things? Give us a little more information please.
  24. Try this site to look for breeders by state, that is if you are from the USA: www.avianbiotech.com
