    Cheese Nips!!

Actually no it isn't but a little now and then might be ok but I wouldn't give it on a daily basis.
  2. Fall might be in Ohio right now but here in Virginia it is still like a summer's day but it is cooling down later this week but not too many colors have developed yet, will try to post a few when they do, thanks for sharing yours with us.
  3. I leave the grate in all my cages, I don't want my fids foraging around on the paper I line the bottom of the cage with and it keeps them out of their own poop for a few will eat that, yes as gross as it sounds it happens.
  4. They notice everything and yes you should have kept DD away from Bella while she had the facepaint on as she would view that as a threat. I don't usually paint my fingernails but one day I did for an evening out and the next day I went to get Josey out of her cage and as soon as she saw my findernails she freaked, something as simple as that can stress them for it is foreign to what they usually encounter. You might find that even moving around some furniture will bring about the same reaction, anything new is frightening.
  5. For right now that may be where he feels more secure, just let him decide when to use the perches but he seems to be settling in to his new home and you are doing a wonderful job with him, at least he can fly and it must make you feel so proud when he flies to you, he is a cute little bugger too from the pictures you shared, what a sweetheart Skip is.
  6. Sorry no there is only one way and that is to keep putting him back on his perch and maybe after a thousand times or more he will understand that is where he should stay but when you keep a flighted bird then they pretty much go where they want. He is a handsome little fella, thanks for sharing the pictures with us, don't you just love the dark eyes of the baby greys.
  7. That is such a sweet letter to Sully, boy he doesn't know how much he is really loved and it is heart warming to hear how you feel about him, he is such a precious gift and may you always feel so lucky to have him in your life, thanks for sharing that letter with us, you are truly blessed.
  8. I have to agree that the bigger cage you can afford or accomodate in your home is the one to go with, even if your grey will be out of the cage a lot it makes sense to have the large cage when the chance comes that you take a trip or have to be away for a few days or more they have plenty of room to play if its necessary to be caged all day. Poshey I would aim for 3+ hours a day out of cage time, more if you can manage it.
  9. Barbara you have plenty of time yet for Neo to talk as yours is just a baby at 4 months but be sure to name foods when you give them to him and use other words appropriate to the moment, hello and goodbye etc and put a little emphasis on the words for that seems to interest them more. No grey should be without a bell, thats just not natural!
  10. One of the members of this forum whom I just visited last month has a hahn's macaw and he was not too loud, in fact she had warned me that he would probably make a lot of noise when I came in for the first time as he does that with anyone new but he didn't say a word, in fact he was quiet as a mouse and it surprised both me and her for he usually is very vocal to strangers. He is a lovely little bird and not too loud when he did decide to make a little noise.
  11. I too would like to see you leave Bambino flighted if at all possible, after all they are birds and were meant to fly but it is a decision you have to make for yourself, be sure to read the threads here on clipping verses not clipping and you will have what you need to make an informed decision. I do cover my birds at night for sleep as I have always done but again this is a personal preference so what ever you decide is right for you. It does take a while for a grey to settle into a new home, after all he is surrounded by new to him things, owner, cage and such so give him plenty of time to feel comfortable and he will let you know when he is ready to interact with you but it seems to be going just fine for now.
  12. Wow, imagine the size of the cage it would need!
  13. Josey was over one year of age when she started talking so be patient, some are more cautious about talking when their owners are around and some just belt it out if they feel like it, I bet we hear soon that Nemo will be chatting away, wonder what his first word will be.
  14. I bet nobody sleeps in with Nilah around, thanks for sharing that with us.
  15. Hello Mark and welcome to our family, so glad you could join us and we look forward to hearing lots more about you and Bambino, what a cute name, now if we had some pictures it would be greyt.
  16. Thats an interesting looking perch you got there, don't think I have ever seen one like it before, thanks for sharing the pics with us.
  17. Robin you better hurry up with the pictures of Morgan, we are anxious to see him.
  18. Never be sorry for the pictures as we love them and you have some beautiful cats, I especially love the black one and the tuxedo cat, lovely pattern on that one, nice flock of birds you have, thanks for sharing them with us.
  19. You must be taking these pictures with your phone right, they are a little fuzzy but you can still see how pretty she is, bet you are one of those people in the picture in the background huh, thanks for sharing the pics with us.
  20. Congrats Robin on your new flock member, you do have your hands full with that many birds but you work from home so it is possibble, can't wait to see some pictures of him when you get the chance.
  21. Yes lots of people will get married today so they have that number to remember, same thing will happen next year in November then again in December of 2012, some people love those numbers like that, makes it easy to remember, wonder how many made it at 10:10 am this morning or wait until 10:10 tonight.
  22. Well this is your bird but I hope you are doing the right thing and it all works out for you and Jack, please keep us posted.
  23. Here is a site you might want to contact but you will have to take classes and they will require a home visit before they will accept you for adopting any bird but no harm in looking at the site, they are based in North Carolina: http://www.phoenixlanding.org/
  24. My bird scratches, your bird scratches, my gosh everybody's bird scratches, imagine that!
  25. OMG this is the first of many such devastations of toys by Sully so learn to live with it, I count such toys as successes and at least you know what kind he likes so you buy more which you did, why don't you go have a funeral for it, PMSL I guess Josey's favorite toy is the big bell that hangs in her cage, she loves that thing and grabs the chain holding it and lets go to listen to the noise it makes, I hate to think what would happen if she didn't have it in her cage to bang around, might not be pretty!
