  1. Poor Greycie, please do let us know what you find out.
  2. I can't get the links to work either.
  3. I agree with the others, you should quarantine the new to you bird for at least 30 days and have him checked out by your avian vet before introducing him into the flock but they may well know that each other is in the house for though they may be separated by rooms they may hear each other's calls. I look forward to seeing some pictures of Pancho.
  4. Lollie is adorable and its your bird so you name it what you want, I like the name and I bet some of her first words will be Lolli Pop, thanks for sharing a pic of her with us.
  5. Hello Traci and welcome to our family, so glad you are realizing your dream of having a grey. I know October seems a long time away but it will be here before you know it, glad to hear you are reading all you can to find out what to expect and what is expected from you so your baby will fit right in when it gets there. Thats good you can visit with your baby grey so when he/she finally gets to come home it will be somewhat familiar with you which will be a good help in adjusting to a new environment. I look forward to seeing some pictures of your new grey and your ringneck.
  6. What a sad thing to happen to those two precious greys, I imagine the owner is devastated, so sorry for his loss.
  7. Just give him your time and attention, they need some time every day outside the cage, talk to him and include him in on activities around the house. Put the cage in the room where the family spends most of their time when awake so he will feel a part of the "flock". He will talk when he is ready and a few greys will not talk at all so be prepared in case you have one that decides not to speak, just love him for the unique beauty and awesome creature he is. I would take him back in to see the vet for a yearly checkup unless he is sick in which case take him immediately. It sounds like you need to read thru the threads here for loads of useful information that will be most helpful to you and your new grey.
  8. She is gorgeous outside but I have to caution that even with clipped wings she can still fly away if given a good breeze, you may not think she would want to leave you but if startled by an unexpected noise she can and will take flight, its what birds do when frightened so please don't take her outside without either being on a harness or inside some kind of enclosure as I would hate to see you lose her to a stiff breeze.
  9. Cody looks relaxed outside enjoying the fresh air and sunshine, thanks for sharing the pics with us. I wasn't going to mention the spot on your siding but since you brought it up I thought Cody took a shot at it and was proud of it, certainly does look like a bird took a dump on it.
  10. It is an individual preference and I have a female and she is bonded to me, she tolerates my hubby and since I am female then the idea that they only bond with people of the opposite sex is false.
  11. Its good you are doing the research before you plunge into grey ownership, wish everyone would do that before making that impulse purchase and I commend you for it. I have never much cared for rats as pets but I guess they can make good ones but one of the drawbacks I can see would be the short lifespan for by the time you have grown close to one they die. I tend to view them as pests as I used to live in a house that had them and they chewed their way thru walls and such and the only ones I care to see now are dead ones but enough of that. Marcus is right on a lot of points he made about greys but keep on reading, reading and more reading.
  12. Hello Kimberly and welcome to our family, so glad to hear you are wanting to add a grey to your life and you won't regret it. Please do read thru the threads here for lots of useful and helpful information from firsthand experienced grey owners and do ask questions you may have and we will help you in any way we can.
  13. Happy Birthday to you!

  14. Well you can come and say hi more often then, you don't have to wait for another dream to remind you of us, please stop in and say hello and how "Jackal" is doing or what he has been up to.
  15. The fids always brighten my day especially here lately when it has rained so much and dampened our spirits along with the ground but calls, chirps, whistles and chatting bring a smile to my face.
  16. Penny is right about the cookware and contacting the company, if it is nonstick then it has to contain harmful chemicals and the companies are going to tell you what they want you to hear and not necessarily the truth, I would err on the side of caution.
  17. Very pretty quaker and if I was ever to get one it would have to be one of those blue ones, such a pretty color and the name fits perfectly, thanks for sharing the pics with us.
  18. Its ironic but they read our body language much better than we can read theirs and yes I agree wholeheartedly Ray.
  19. Sometimes we love them enough to give them up and Sully just needed the right people to bring him out of his shell, even though I know you miss him terribly you know that he is truly happy now and thats all any of us ever wanted so know that you did the right thing Janet.
  20. Sounds like they are adjusting nicely to their new home and I know you are waiting for the day you can introduce them into your flock, keep up the good work.
  21. Yes it will work for the time being but make it as soon as possible and put the perches down lower for him and put some blankets or towels down to cushion any falls until he gets good at perching.
  22. I'm gonna hold you to that!!
  23. That cage is a little small, height is fine but you should look for a wider and deeper cage, more like 24"L x 36"w at least so he can flap his wings and not touch the sides but the design of the cage is great and most love the playtops.
  24. Welcome Beth, your link is not showing the cage, maybe you could fix the link or provide a picture of it so we will know what you are talking about.
  25. I agree with Jill, he got startled when the knocking at the door combined with the dog barking made him flap around in his cage, you can put some aloe vera jel on the cut, it comes in a bottle and is usually in the pharmacy department maybe with the suntan products.
