Wow those are interesting pics, infrared you say, never seen a grey like that before, certainly a first for greyforums, thanks for sharing that with us.

Congrats on getting Grimm home safe and sound and it sounds like it is going smoothly. Just give him time to settle into his new home and I look forward to seeing those pictures when you get them ready for sharing.
-
It is good to have you back on the forum, sometimes life does get crazy at times but check in when you can, gonna check out the nursery room for the thread of Grimm coming home.

Capo is adorable and very smart, they are capable of much more than we give them credit for, thanks for sharing the vids with us.

I love to hear Nilah talk, she has this high pitched voice that really tickles my funny bone, "wanna cup of coffee" she is a hoot Penny, thanks for sharing that with us.

Thanks Ronald for giving this bird a new forever home and it seems he is responding to being allowed out of the cage more and the extra attention so keep up the good work for I see a lovely relationship building here. Please do not clip the wings as it could cause more harm than good, a bird has wings to fly, that is the way nature made them and they should be allowed flight opportunities. It is best to allow your grey to come out of his cage before you ask him to step up, a lot of greys are territorial about their cages, they see it as their safe zone and do not like any intrusions so always let him come out first. You shouldn't have any trouble with having him step up if you are not afraid of a bite, that is the mistake of the former owner and the bird knew it and used it to his advantage to keep him away. You may get a bite from time to time but that is all in the owning of a wild animal and you can avoid most of them by paying attention to the body language of the bird. We have a sticky in the training room that will help you with that. I think it is best for you to just concentrate on building trust right now and wait on the training for it will take some time for him to feel comfortable in his new home and with him being 9 years old he has some baggage that you will have to deal with as he is set in his ways by now. You can work on stepping up and such but leave the more involved training for later on.

Yes continue the handfeedings as long as she wants it, you do not want to stop doing it just because she gets to a certain age, let the bird decide when she won't take it anymore. As she refuses the feedings step up the solid foods and pellets to give her the nutrition she needs to develop and grow. Be sure to check out the stickys in the nursery room for lots of ideas and suggestions.

I don't think teaching your grey to whistle has much effect on their talking ability, my grey learned to whistle and she has a good vocabulary of words and phrases she uses and she occasionally whistles too especially the wolf whistle.
-
Daniel why don't you read some of the threads especially the stickys in the nursery room for helpful suggestions on handfeeding and weaning young greys. They should continue to get the feedings as long as they want them, cutting back on the amount and frequency as the bird dictates and start adding solid foods to the diet. Do not bathe your baby until it has all its feathers, probably not for another month or so until they start getting oil from the preen gland on their feathers, you do not want your baby to be so wet it takes a long time to dry, they might get chilled before they dry out.

I see from the video you shared with us that the chop was a hit, when a grey doesn't notice the camera as he is eating from his bowl then it means he is enjoying it so much the camera doesn't matter, you did a good job with it.

Congrats on Archimedes coming home, he looks great in his travel cage and in his big at home cage, I wouldn't worry too much about who his favorite is at the moment for it could change as he settles into his new home, thanks for sharing the pics with us.

That is so true, this is a must read for anyone contemplating getting a bird for the first time, thanks for sharing that with us Penny.
-
Give him a little more time but if he talked before he came to you then he will again when he feels like it.
-
Yum yum that must be good stuff for he is not even noticing the camera, thanks for sharing that with us.

Each grey and each bird is an individual so their personalities are gonna be slightly different, some are more active than others and what one does another may not, you just have to appreciate what your bird does do and as long as she is healthy and happy that is all that matters.

Hello Christol and welcome to our family, so glad you are giving Lillie a new forever home. Be sure to read thru as many of the threads here for lots of useful advice from firsthand experienced grey owners and do ask questions you may have and we will do our best to help you in any way we can. We love pictures here so if you have some of Lillie you would share with us that would be super.

Hello Ariisamis and welcome to our family and yes this will be the longest 4 weeks of your life. I don't know where you are from but just google bird cages and you will find lots of places, even ebay has good cages for sale. Do buy as big a cage as you can afford as a grey needs room to be able to open his wings and flap without hitting the sides of the cage and a playtop is nice too. As far as names maybe something will come to mind when visiting your baby, something about his personality but Birdhouse has given you a link that may help with that task. When you visit your grey consider taking some pictures and sharing them with us as we would love to see him.

He got what he deserved, thanks for sharing that Janet.

Congrats on finding the bird you wanted, now would you share some pics of this bird so we can see her.
-
If you are still handfeeding him then he has a special affection for you for you are his meal provider, not that he will change when he no longer gets handfed but it explains why he is so fascinated and smitten with you right now but he seems like a real sweetheart and I hope it stays that way although you should try getting him to interact with the other members of the family so he is well socialized.

Congrats on your impending new arrival, it will be difficult to juggle a new baby with having a grey in the house but it can work if you want it to, make providing some time for Charlie a priority for you made the committment to him when you brought him into your home and your life. Not that it means your baby has to suffer for it but babies grow into children who won't be as demanding of your time then and Charlie will still be the same.

Love seeing Miss Cocoa on her outings and love the one of her getting some head scratches, she deserves them for being such a good subject, thanks for sharing them with us.
-
Just put the carrier close to her cage and let her come out on her own, she is scared right now with all new surroundings so she needs a little time to adjust but she will. Be patient with her and allow her time to settle into her new home. Would love to see some pics when you get the chance.

Hello Greykiki and welcome to our family, so glad you could join us. I am glad to hear you are considering allowing Kiki's flights to grow out but she might have trouble learning to fly since she has been clipped since she was a baby but at least she will have the chance if she so desires. Would love to see some pictures of both your birds if you have some you would share with us.

Why should we when you are doing beautifully all by yourself!
