    willo

Oh my gosh Willo is precious looking out from her bed, does she really use it for sleeping? What a sweetheart she is.
  3. Josey eats most nuts except for sunflower seeds, if they are in her bowl of a morning then they will still be there by the end of the day, guess its just as well she doesn't eat them, she will eat walnuts and pecans, not much on almonds or pistachios.
  4. Hello San and welcome to our family, so glad to hear you have a baby grey and Amy is precious looking. You have only had her for one day so give her some more time to settle into her new home, after all she is in all new to her surroundings, new owner, cage and toys, a grey is slow to accept change so take it easy and be very patient while she adjusts. For the time being just let her stay on the playtop of the cage until she shows signs of wanting to go on the training stand. Is this your first grey, first bird? Please do read thru as many of the threads as you can to learn all you can about these awesome creatures and do not hesitate to ask questions you may have and we will help you in any way we can. Thanks for sharing a picture of Amy in your intro post.
  5. Hello Chaydel and welcome to our family, so glad you could join us. I don't know anything about this tilting of their heads but it would seem a good question for an avian vet to answer, they might outgrow it but I would want to know lots more about this before I committ to getting one of these.
  6. What is it with emery boards, Josey loves to get ahold of mine if she sees any laying around, maybe its because they are slender like a pen or pencil, they love to get hold of them too.
  7. Its ok to be a little nervous right now as your life is about to change forever in a few days but get that homework done now ya hear.
  8. What a special welcome home present, made you feel all warm and snuggly inside to know she missed you.
  9. The important thing here is that he was doing the leaning before he got the shots so it couldn't be a side effect of that, I hope you made the vets aware of that fact. Leafy greens include kale, mustard greens, swiss chard, dandelion greens, collards, carrot tops, bok choy along with beet tops, turnip tops but not much spinach, romaine lettuce is also good.
  10. Congrats Dawn so now I hope it all goes smoothly and he is home with you soon. Just so you know the plucking may or may not stop when you bring him home and if he hasn't been to see a vet be sure to schedule a visit so he can be checked out and maybe see if there is any medical reason for it but sometimes this is just a nasty habit they get into but he is still the same inside even if his feathers look a little rough, he is still lovable. Let us know what you find out and when you bring him home.
  11. IF it was the police who came to her home, I am thinking this is a scam pure and simple but even if they were legitimate it stresses the need for us to make sure we get written proof in a sale like this. I feel so bad for you Sarah but act quickly and get all your friends and family to help you with this situation, we are all pulling for you here and want Archie back where he belongs.
  12. Dawn, things happen for a reason and I couldn't be happier for you, both Janet and Snoepgoed have given you lots of questions you should ask, I don't have any to add but I can't wait for this to happen, keep us informed.
  13. Those are mallards, the male has the green head, they just thought it was a good place to spend some time and hey maybe they will nest nearby, keep a close eye out for it, probably be on the ground.
  14. You know the more I think about this the more I think this was just some thieves who posed as police and stole him from you. Did they show you some identification, were they dressed as policemen, this is beginning to sound more and more like some kind of scam, I would never have handed over my bird to those people even if they were the real police, a charge would have been filed but I don't think they would have taken the bird. I wish I could help you.
  15. Usually when a bird shows signs of illness it has already progressed to a more dangerous level as they tend to hide it as long as possible, in the wild sick birds would be picked off easily by predators. Not trying to alarm you but time is of the essence if he is truly sick, first thing in the morning take him either back to the vet you are using or find a new one.
  16. Happy Hatchday Nilah, you are a sweet looking girl and you make mama proud, hope you get spoiled royally today.
  17. Exactly and I know this well.
  18. That is a horrible diet, just sunflower seeds, that could contribute to his problems, he needs a better diet, pellets, vegetables, a little fruit, grains, rices, legumes, a little meat like chicken now and then, some egg a couple times a week, a tiny sliver of cheddar cheese couple times a week and maybe a little yogurt now and then. Be sure to check the bird food room for ideas and suggestions and for the forbidden list of things they cannot have. I have to say this vet does not sound very helpful, being an avian vet he should have some answers for you.
  19. Does he lean like this all the time? Was it an avian vet you took him to? This stance does not look normal and it is not sexual behavior. How old is Kookoo? I would find my self an avian vet even if I had to travel some distance to have him seen as something is just not right.
  20. He is an adorable little IRN, does he talk much as I love to hear them chatting?
  21. Tell him the natural look is in so go easy on the makeup, what a little cutie pie.
  22. I will be watching this thread to see what you do for I have wanted an outside enclosure for my fids to get out in and enjoy the fresh air and sunshine but hubby is so busy with other things, well maybe some day.
  23. You are a good woman Dee, most of us would have wanted to get right up there to get a closer look, it is fascinating to watch them grow and then fly away. Will you move the helmet to prevent another brood or leave it?
  24. Steve brought up some good points in his post so check on those as this just doesn't seem right to me. I feel so sad for you and sadder for Archie because he doesn't know what is going on, he must be so traumatised by now. I don't know how the laws are over there in the UK but I wouldn't rest until he is back home with you.
