  1. I wonder if maybe he doesn't like it so close. My tag got a severe sunburn from that same kind of light on her eye. Or maybe you should add a few more hanging toys near the top to play with.
  2. So glad to hear Mama is back with her flock. Doesn't it just warm you from the inside out when they show you how much they have missed you. They have such a way of making you feel their love and how attached to you they are. That should speed up her recovery!
  3. I am not a big fan of trick training, so I cant be of any help. However, Welcome, and please post in the Welcome Room so we can learn more about you & your grey. Also, we LOVE pics! Greys tend to decide on their own who they choose to be their favorite within a family. It sometimes changes over the years, but you just never know and you cant force yourself to be the favorite..
  4. Oh my....my heart aches for you so badly. I read your story and felt like I was there. You did the best you could, don't beat yourself up. Accidents happen, and it was a tragic accident. I know many people arent aware, but a cat has a chemical in its saliva and claws that are toxic to birds and rodents. It won't kill it immediately, but over a short period of time, it will kill them. It can happen from a bite or a scratch. That may be the case here. I'm not a vet, but I know this for a fact. That is why many people say, "cat scratch fever" , a human actually will itch in the spot when you get scratched by a cat. My prayers to ease your pain are being said tonight. I am glad the suffering for Jas was short. He knows you loved him. Time will lessen the pain, be patient and forgiving of yourself.
  5. I kind of figured I'd get flack about the unhealthy kool pop. Lol But it was all in fun, they get a tiny taste abut once or twice a year. I really don't believe it will harm them considering it isn't something they get very often.... gosh, Talon loves cold things, snow and ice, and Rikki usually hates anything cold, so this was a rare thing for her to try.
  6. The lesson to be learned here.....YOU MUST SHARE!
  7. I Love that he wants to go water the flowers. It's so funny to hear Dayo talk, all my birds talk in a girls voice. I'm not used to hearing apart talk,in a mans voice. Although Rikki used to, but no longer, she sounds more like an old hag.....
  8. I don't worry about my birds getting sunflower seeds like Dan, it is in their seed mix. Rikki my cag LOVES them, Talon my tag, doesn't like them. Taln loves safflower tho. rikki, not so much. Then there is Nilah, she eats anything!
  9. http://www.wwnytv.com/news/local/Is-This-Your-Bird-Found-In-Clayton-218347261.html Posted here just in case...you never know, who knows who.

  11. Nancy, I sent you a pm 2 days ago. Please send a picture if Kiki.
  12. Nancy, have you listed Kiki on 911 parrot alert? Idont see her there. It may be helpful.
  13. Aww. How sad. I would get a fleece hut. It's comforting, and after a while, you may find she loves it like my Talon does.
  14. Happy Birthday Ana Grey! You've always had a special place my heart as I've watched you grow!
  15. Wow! ThAts wonderful! I wish I had one like that in my backyard. Maybe one day
  16. Sorry also. I got divorced almost 6 years ago. Talon really liked my ex and my oldest son. They both stayed behind and the rest of us moved into a new house. She seemed fine with it all. She had me all to herself, no other birds except parakeets at the time. They do adapt very well.
  17. Congratulations. Wow, that is young for an amazon. My breeder wouldn't let hers go until they were weaned which was 6 months. Good luck to you and obviously you know what you are doing. Can't wait to see pics!
  18. I would never buy this, Nilah would perch on it all the time. I have celling fans and have never once had my birds fly into them, they are too high to the ceiling. Nilah will fly to them sometimes when they are off, and when I turn it on low, ride it like a merry go round. When I want her off, I spins it fast with my hand and off she flies.
  19. Ray, I thought is was just Nilah and her weird ways...but she LOVES to have only her left foot massaged. We have been doing it for a couple of years now. She holds it up and wants you to rub it for about a half hour. It is the foot she uses to hold things, and it is very soft as well. She just kind of relaxes and stands very still while we rub and massage it....occasionally she will want the right one done after her left, but only from my daughter who does Reike on our animals.
  20. Nilah LOVES to eat. she takes great care in not dropping a crumb, and is very slow with her eating. She will try anything & everything. She is the neatest of all my flock, doesn't ever fling her food, she doesn't want to waste any..... Rikki LOVES to throw food on the floor, especially when it includes the plates & bowls!
  21. Wingy, you stated it perfectly. They do tell all with those beautiful changing eyes of theirs.
  22. Very good post Ray. I have to say that having 2 greys and 1 amazon, it is Nilah my amazon that has also taught me to respond to her needs and wants more than the others? I believe that amazons have that ability. They let you know in no uncertain terms, how to connect with them. I think having an amazon is so very different than having a grey. I have learned so much from Nilah, that I know has been very helpful in my interactions with my greys. Nilah has a way of making you think, feel and respond in ways other than human ones, when interacting with my flock, if that makes any sense....
