HI Lovely and welcome! 5 months is a great age! I had my grey shipped via Delta. Just get there early for pick up so he doesn't have to remain in the cargo any longer than is necessary It takes time to do all the paperwork.
I can't wait to see pictures and hear more. Please keep us posted!
Hi Thomas! Welcome to our family. You do have a houseful!! But I am happy for you, sounds like your grey is a sweetheart, and feeling very loved and comfortable already!! I look forward to hearing more and seeing some photo's!!
Thanks Joe, but I do understand it's a MEN ONLY thread, so I respect that and just enjoy watching the fun as you try to keep the girls out!!
Yes, greys don't like to share a cage unless they are clutch mates and have been housed together all along. More info from you would definitely help us advise you better. But for their safety, please separate them asap.
Talon dumps her things too! I have locks on mine so she can't knock her food or water over. I don't like the water bottles, as I find them hard to clean even with a bottle brush, too many nooks and crannies.
Kristin, thank you for sharing that with us. It helps to know that others are working that hard. Your a great motivator. I think what you are doing is quite a healthy way to go about it. You, I'm sure are feeling much healthier!! I pretty much have the same schedule as you, but my scale has gone up, not down!! I wonder if it could be because I am gaining muscle? I think it's probably a little of both. :( :pinch:
Well,Dave has pretty much said it all! Not much to add except that I agree with everything he has advised you on. I would add that a relaxes, respectful, happy environment is the best to have a happy, healthy bird!
The talk radio is great! You have your choices of comedy stations such as comedy central, various talk shows, fox news, cnn, etc. Mny different genres of music, radio disney for the kids, adult only stations for us pretend grownups!
I think for a sleep cage, it will be fine. Do you have a place for some food and water dishes? Some like to snack at night. I think for going outside, it will be perfect, and I love the idea of the play area on top. It has great potential!!
I would be careful about the painting though, if the paint has chipped off, it will continue. The sisal rope might be a better option. You could have it sandblasted and then painted also.
I'm sure others here will have different ideas. B)
Hi Beth, and Welcome! I am so glad you finally decided to join us! I look forward to the day you bring that grey into your home, but please stay and join us in the fun of learning all you can. You never know all there is to know. We all continue to learn helpful things from each other here. That's what makes it so fun!!
Joe, I have XM in my car. I haven't had the opportunity to compare with Sirius. It is true that they are merging, however they don't yet have the technology to merge their stations. So it will remain as is for the near future. As far as XM is concerned, I love it! There is such a variety. B)
Tracy, She is the sweetest and smartest grey ever! I wouldn't trade her for the world!! Thanks!!
Casper, Not me......I was too chicken to try that too!!
I had Talon dna tested when what we thought was a HE at 1 1/2 years old. Our vet clipped her nail just a little too short, and did it that way. HE then 2 weeks later became a SHE!
Raposa, she is beautiful!! thank you for sharing them with us. I am so excited for you. Just keep reading and researching as much as you can, it will help make the time pass quickly!
