Are you still hearing him at all? From what I have read they say not to stand directly under tree's but to stand in an open area near the tree's. Also if he has a favorite food, toy, stand, cage etc. place them outside and keep calling for him. Call Vets, Shelters, Police, etc. Put flyers up everywhere. Most of all don't give up. My heart goes out to you and I pray that he finds his way home.

Keeping good thoughts that he finds his way home.

Phoenix is not clipped but it's funny because for right now he isn't really isn't interested in flying anywhere other than from the top of the cage to me or his stand. Once he lands he pretty much hangs out. I am always talking to him and he hangs out with me when I do things around the house.
-
He is out for about 2/3 hours in the morning. Sometimes out in the afternoon and for about 3 hours at night. There are days that it's a little shorter or longer. I usually say night time around 10 but we've been known to hang out til much later sometimes. I just purchased the Feathered Phonics CD. I will give it a try.

He's almost 17 months old. Little stinker sure took his time. Now I'm afraid he's saving it all up and will talk our ears off. I love it!!
-
Phoenix has started to say "Peek A Boo" and "Here Kitty Kitty"! I don't say either very often so he is a smart boy!! It's not much but it's a start. He sounds so cute!!
-
Nancy it's a DVD that shows all types of birds. My two are fascinated with it. You can loop it so it plays all day. I love it myself. The birds are gorgeous.
-
This morning was the first time I played the DVD for them. They LOVE it!! Both of them sat staring at the birds chattering back to them. I Sat here and watched quite a bit of it. Oh My how beautiful all of the birds are. I love the babies! I'm really happy that I decided to get it.

We have poop patrol here. lol We are constantly checking the water. Both Phoenix and my Sun Conure are dunkers so the water is always a mess. My Conure is always pooping in his water. Phoenix very rarely. My Conure also manages to get it EVERYWHERE! How he is able to be IN his cage and poop in the middle of the floor is a mystery!!!

I don't know why but I got such a giggle out of that.

I leave the radio on. I just purchased the Parrot Sitter DVD so we will see how that goes. I have a small TV and an extra DVD player so they can have their own little entertainment center. lol

When I first read the story I absolutely cried my heart out. Then I got angry! I'm originally from NJ and have friends there who have birds, own rescues, bird supply stores (No birds, just supplies), etc. There were options! Don't have ANY animals in the first place or make a simple phone call and get them put into a rescue so they can find loving homes. Dave I have to agree 100% with you. I hope they make her pay dearly! 22 Years old and she was capable of such cruelty? Very sad. Now 5 beautiful birds have senselessly died because of this "person".

introducing a new bird to an old african grey

My Conure is a BAD influence! lol Phoenix will very rarely go very far from me on his own but my Conure flies all over the place so Phoenix follows him. It is kind of like watching an air show. They loop and turn and have a blast with me running after them like a fool to make sure they are safe. As far as being near each other, it's again my Conure who tells Phoenix to back off so I have to watch them very carefully. -
First those teenagers who stole and tortured and killed a mans bird and now this. I will NEVER understand abuse of any kind. I would STARVE if I had to just to make sure my animals ate. Exotic parrots dead; Highlands woman charged Kathleen Hopkins, @Khopkinsapp 6:07 p.m. EDT July 4, 2014 -Whiskey103a_20051025.jpg (Photo: ASBURY PARK PRESS FILE PHOTO ) 357 CONNECTTWEETLINKEDIN 7 COMMENTEMAILMORE HIGHLANDS – A 22-year-old borough woman is facing 10 animal cruelty charges after authorities learned that five exotic African grey parrots found dead in her home perished as a result of lack of food and water. Beth M. Devereaux of Huddy Avenue was charged Friday with two counts of animal cruelty for each dead bird – one for failing to provide food and water to the animals and another for failing to properly care for them, said Victor “Buddy’’ Amato, chief law enforcement officer for the Monmouth County Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals. Highlands police were summoned to Devereaux’s home on June 27 by someone who reported a problem at the residence, Amato said. Highlands Detective Anthony Macri went there and found the birds dead, according to police. “Somebody complained the birds had died and they suspected foul play,’’ Amato said. At the direction of SPCA officials, the parrots were taken to the Red Bank Animal Hospital for a necropsy to determine the cause of their deaths, Amato said. It was determined they died as a result of lack of food and water, he said. The chief said the birds’ cages were “dry as a bone and had hardly any fecal matter at the bottom.’’ He said it indicated they weren’t being fed. The parrots, which are able to talk, grow to as tall as a foot and often live longer than humans, were kept in a dusty room with no ventilation, which could be why they dehydrated so easily, Amato said. “There was no air conditioning, and the windows were all closed,’’ he said. Amato did not know the age of the birds. “For some reason, which we haven’t determined, she just gave up on the animals,’’ the chief said. Devereaux was released on her own recognizance after being charged, pending a hearing in municipal court on July 22, Amato said. She could face fines of $1,000 for each animal cruelty charge, if she is convicted, as well as a possible six-month jail term, he said. Let me first say that I could care less if Phoenix ever talks. I am just curious to hear when others started to talk and if there are any that have never talked. He is a TAG, 15 months old and hasn't said a word. He has learned many sounds, whistles, etc. When we talk to him you can see his mouth move and he pays VERY close attention to what you are saying to him. My friend said he's saving everything and one day he won't stop talking. lol My Sun Conure has said Good Boy and I Love You.

I have an unopened bottle that I had in the fridge. I took it with us when we went to visit friends and kept it out of the fridge for the day there and the day back. It's back in the fridge still unopened. Is it still ok?

Phoenix 1 Toy 0! That didn't last long.
-
I found a toy with large plastic keys that has buttons to push that make all different types of sounds. He LOVES it so now we get to listen to cars honking non stop! lol He races to the bottom of the cage if he drops it and gets REALLY mad if I try to take it away from him. He's having fun which makes me happy.

Thank You again everyone. You have all been soo kind. I still find myself looking for him. I guess after 18 years that's not surprising. He basically ignored the birds and was never allowed in the room with them when they were out. Phoenix and I had a great cuddle time last night. I sure hope he didn't mind the tears. I know that my babies all know how loved they are and that makes me have some comfort.

I am sooo very sorry. I was not on the forums for a while and just saw this.

This photo was only taken a few weeks ago. Sorry it's so large.

Thank you everyone. His name was Sunshine. And he definitely lived up to his name. I always sang "You are my Sunshine" to him.

Our beautiful cat passed away. He was 18 and lived a very spoiled life. I know the birds know something is wrong. Poor babies. I've been trying to give tons of attention but to be honest my heart is just broken.

This information is awesome! I would never have known that they can have chicken bones. Would the chicken bones be ok for my Sun Conure also? I can't wait to see how Phoenix likes it. Once again I am thrilled with all of the information I get from these forums.
