  1. Phoenix is happiest when he throws every single one of his toys out of his toy box then looks at me as if to say "You ARE going to pick them up aren't you"? It's impossible to get mad at him and I know I encourage it by laughing but I can't help it. He's just too cute!
  2. My friend has a rescue Congo that is a severe plucker so every time I see feathers I get nervous. Thankfully since she has had her she has gotten much better.
  3. My poor Buddy is molting like crazy. At first it was little feathers and now it's his tail/wing feathers. The feathers are intact so I am sure he's not plucking. I saved his feathers and one day I will figure out what to do with them. He had me cracking up yesterday. I gave him a shower and when he was done he was wiggling his little tail like crazy. He looked SO cute! I Love the little stinker more and more every day.
  4. http://i1303.photobucket.com/albums/ag156/MJ4236/941298_225441464300640_1715865891_n1_zps4edadba1.jpg m This is why my babies will NEVER be outside. We have all kinds of huge birds. Just too scary for me. I had posted this picture a while ago.
  5. Phoenix is 13 Months old today. He's gotten so big. He kind of says Peek A Boo, gives BIG kisses when you say "I Love You" and chatters his little heart out. He is my baby boy!
  6. I have an Ionic Breeze that I was told was not good around birds. As soon as I got my Conure I put it away and have not had anything since. I loved it and felt it worked very well and hate to have it go to waste.
  7. I was secretly hoping he was a she. I'm out numbered at my house. 2 girls, 6 boys! lol
  8. I decided to take Phoenix and my Sun Conure to the vet for a little check up and some grooming. Phoenix will be 1 on March 11th and he weighs 295. We have decided after much going back and forth to keep both birds flighted. Both are very healthy and we also found out my Conure is a boy.
  9. Thanks everyone. My heart is broken for my friend.
  10. I feel like I am being too paranoid. I have a friend that has a Congo, Cockatoo and several Lovebirds. Over the past two weeks four of her Lovebirds have passed away. (All under a year old). She is having them tested to see what happened. She sent me a package with homemade food, treats and toys. I did not bring the box in the house and will be getting rid of it on trash day. Am I being too paranoid?
  11. First off I apologize for not having any pictures. I've taken some but they are horrible. I'll try again soon! Phoenix is such a charmer. He is still a little nippy and clingy but we are working on it. He has NO interest in toys just EVERYTHING that he shouldn't have. I've spent a small fortune on toys but he really isn't interested. He meows exactly like a cat, whoofs, wolf whistles and the "come here" whistle and the kissing sound. He loves to take a shower and gets sooo excited when I ask him if he wants a shower. He's so smart and a little sneak! I love reading the boards and I'm so happy that I joined.
  12. I have been given a Scentsy burner with some of the scented wax. I am told they are all natural. I have not and will not use it because I am worried. The bird room is next to the kitchen which is the only place I have ever had candles to begin with. I was wondering how safe the Scentsy burners would be.
  13. Aww, I got a lump in my throat just thinking of a poor baby of any kind, dog, cat, fish, etc. being neglected. We have been told that we spoil our babies rotten but that they are so good. They are our precious babies and I know that we are blessed to have them in our lives. Both of our cats were thrown away like garbage so they came home with me, my one dog came home instead of the paper towels that I had gone to the store to get and got side tracked by this cute little puppy being given away outside the store, my sun conure came home when I saw that she/he was being neglected at the store. My little Papillion was a gift from my friend when our 13 1/2 year old Siberian Husky passed away and my beautiful Phoenix was chosen by me.
  14. Awww, I would be crushed also. Fortunately for me he hates my Husband. lol My Sun Conure however is in LOVE with him.
  15. I was away for 10 days and I missed my babies terribly. I would talk to them on the phone and Phoenix would chatter at me. I practically filled a suitcase with toys for them and my Conure got a new cage which of course was delivered the day after I left. I now know that I can't be away from them for that long but I know my Hubby just spoiled them rotten. It's good to be home.
  16. Aww, I'm going to be gone for a week. Hubby is on bird duty. I feel awful since I am home with them all day. I have a radio that I will play but maybe I should get a small TV for them during the day. I love your birds entertainment schedule Talon. How sweet! This is the first time I will be away from them and I'm already dreading it. I've never heard of the bird babysiter DVD. I will definately look it up.
  17. Phoenix chewed my brand new desk chair, ate the envelope for the Netflix movie I had sitting on my desk, chewed the corner of my desk, stole the back off of my desk clock. I've only had him since June so I'm sure I'll be adding to this list. lol
  18. I named him Phoenix and the breeder started calling him that right away. I know it's a common name but to me it represented strength. He's not talking yet and he may never talk but he gives kisses, meows, makes sounds like a monkey does the wolf whistle and goes woof woof along with a ton of other sounds. lol I love him so much!
  19. Not Greys but I enjoyed watching this video of Macaws. I would never take the chances they did but it was a beautiful sight to watch them flying.
  20. My Husband was putting together Phoenix's lamp (aka THE HUGE MONSTER) and Phoenix went nuts. Hissing and going after my Husband. Every time when we go to turn on his lamp or move it he does the same thing. I was sharing the lamp between his cage and my Sun Conures but since moving it freaked him out so bad we purchased another lamp/bulb. Not too spoiled. lol
  21. Was Greycie ok? Phoenix seems just fine. I almost had heart failure though.
  22. Thanks, I feel awful. I just keep thinking what could have happened. We live like vampires for his safety. Some people told me to have colored sheers up so that we can get light and he will be safe. I think we will be curtain shopping this weekend.
  23. I always play this game with Phoenix where I'll put him on his perch and run up the steps (Straight line from his room) and hide in my bedroom. He comes to find me. All curtains are always closed whenever he is out. Tonight I didn't realize the one window curtain was open and he flew right into the window. He turned right away and landed on me and seems fine. I think my heart just finally started beating again. I know that usually they learn boundaries but I will always be afraid to ever leave curtains open. The strange thing is that he did it while it was dark out.
