  1. I have one more question. I was planning on having him shipped but those plans changed and I will be driving to pick him up. An 11 hour trip. Again, not something I have ever done with a bird on such a long trip. I will stop to feed him of course but what should I have in his carrier besides water. I don't want him to get sick from being in the car.
  2. Aww, love those stories. I went to let my dog out one day, he's a toy and only weighed two lbs. at the time. I open the door and right there sitting on the fence was a red tail hawk staring right into our back yard. In went baby and mommy and the wee wee pads came out. That hawk stayed there for hours. Scary.
  3. Thank You very much. I will be picking him up on Friday. Very excited. I have had many animals and have hand fed my ferrets but the thought of hand feeding a bird wrong had my head spinning. I am much calmer now that I can feed him from a spoon. Thank You again and I will be posting updates and pictures.
  4. I have a baby Timneh that is still with the breeder. He was born early March. We were not planning on picking him up until late June early July. I have just spoken with my breeder and she has a family situation that will take her time for a while and has asked if we would be willing to take him now. I have never hand fed a bird but I am willing to do it. He is still on 1 to 2 feedings a day. He eats very well on his own. She has said that if we could not she would make sure that someone would care for him until he's ready. She has a wonderful reputation and I have spoken to many people who have gotten their birds from her and this has never happened in her 25+ year history. I work from home so will be with him all the time. I have an avian vet and will be taking him right away. I guess my question is would it be better for him to be with us where someone is with him all the time or to stay with the breeder and have someone come in and care for him.
  5. I have not gotten my little guy yet but I want to get him an Aviator harness and start working with him as soon as I feel he is settled and comfortable in his new home. My question is since he is a baby (Timneh) which size should I get for him? Also, when you have your birds outside how do you deal with the issue of large wild birds? We have a lot of hawks and such and I have a fear of taking him out but I know how important it is. On a side note I truly love this site and have been reading and enjoying everyone's stories and pictures. Everyone has been soo nice.
  6. My Breeder just let me know that our little boy and his Brother took their first flights yesterday! He's getting to be such a big boy and I can't wait to bring him home. I already have his cage set up and he doesn't come home for another 3 weeks or so. I'm already in love!
  7. Aww, she's been watching too many SciFi movie about the Killer Jolly Balls. Your babies are gorgeous.
  8. I will be getting my male Timneh at the end of the month and want to get him a Jolly Ball. I'm guessing the 14"? What are everyone's opinions? Are they safe?
  9. I am looking to add more to my stand. Any suggestions?
  10. Thank You, I am concerned about the bald spots on the chest and neck. The breeder is a wonderful person and I can see and hear the love she has for these babies. I guess I am just a nervous new Mom. lol I do have other birds and have never seen this before.
  11. I will be getting my new little boy at the end of the month. The breeder I am getting him from is far so I have not actually met him yet. (DNA test done so we know it's a male). I have been receiving pictures and the last picture I have a few concerns. I will attach the picture so you can see. I see the bald spot/bubble by his neck and I have never seen this before. He will be at the vet right away but should I be concerned? I am not able to get the picture to attach. I will keep trying.
