  1. Never mind the question. I just found them.

  2. Nancy, just read one of your threads that you are from Webster. I was born and raised in Rochester. My brother and family live in Webster still. We will be going there over Mother's Day weekend.

How do I find your pictures?

  3. I, too, never take my boys out. I just open the door and they come out. Sometimes they like my shoulder, but usually they just either walk out or fly out. Has anything else changed about that time of day? Do you come home a bit later or earlier than you did a month ago? Are you coming in another door? Are you doing anything in a different order? Maybe letting the 'wrong' bird out first? LOL Hopefully you can figure it out and life will return to normal soon.
  4. I dare say the screeching will let up. It may pop up from time to time, but it probably will calm down soon. It sounds wonderful. Just watch their eyes when you go to handle them. The pinning of the eyes can tell you that they are serious about being about to bite.
  5. It seems as if we have three seasons in every season. In Spring we have Winter, Spring and Summer. In Summer we will have Spring, Summer and Fall. There doesn't seem to be as clear a break as there use to be.
  6. You got it Jayd!! And I do too LOL '
  7. OK I think I got it!!! LOL Thanks: = thanks I have given out - it has nothing to do with the thanks coming in. So no math involved! LOL thanks
  8. I agree. Why take the chance? I feel you should be careful about mouth to mouth transfer at all times. You never know when you are about to be sick.
  9. Good advice. Well, most of it! LOL I should have had that phone number when he bit me! I will be giving some of these ideas a try.
  10. Thanks, I have no problem understanding what a thank is, it is the math involved that has me stumped. How does being thanked 66 times in 16 posts equal 2??
  11. Would someone explain the why the thanks are counted. Some people have 2,187 thanks - 2,769 times in 1,319 posts another 7,475 thanks - 1,851 times in 1,134 posts another 16,106 thanks - 4,086 times in 1,994 posts So is there some complicated math equations that is used to figure these out?? Just curious. Thanks

    Skittles

Thanks everyone. Jayd, how old is your Skittles. Mine is 10. Judy, I change my clothes everytime I come home - I have tees and sweats just to wear around the house. All of them are chewed up. Both mine will sometimes still bite my clothes. That is how Skittles learned the word Stop, because I would be telling him and Peanut to Stop bitting my clothes! LOL He seemed to pick up words that were said rather loudly.
  13. Thanks everyone. I think we are the lucky ones! But, I do agree, I wonder what would have become of him if we hadn't taken him. Peanut is almost 8 now. His 'brother' is almost 10. I have teenage years coming up!! LOL There are times when I wish he could talk, but most of the time I couldn't care less. He definitly has his own way of letting me know what he wants without words.

    Skittles

Hi I am Skittles, a Sun Conure. My first family bought me on a whim and soon found out I was nippy and made much too much noise for them. I was very lucky in that they wanted me to go to a good home. That is how I ended up with a friend of their parents. She loves me and I love her - from the first moment we met. She likes my yelling a few times a day and she doesn't mind my mess and since I have her companionship I am not at all nippy (of course, except for my first hormonal season I did bite her more than a few times then - but she still loves me!) I can say Hello when the phone rimgs, Thank you when I get something I love to eat, Stop when I, or Mom, does something wrong and I called our dog, Oscar, when he was with us. He has gone to the rainbow bridge now. I love to cuddle into my Mom's neck, or go down the front of her shirt and cuddle there. I also will sleep under a blanket with Mom at night sometimes. I use to sleep there every night but I have changed and only do it once in a while now. I love ice and once got a beak full of coke fuzz - you know that stuff that fills the glass when you pour coke. I L O V E coke, but don't get it because Mom says it is bad for me. One of the pictures show me on my Mom's granddaughter's arm. Another shows me after a shower - all wet! Another shows me playing with my 'big' brother, Peanut. The last one shows me on my aunt's head at one of our school visits - don't I make a beautiful hat! LOL
  15. I thought I would tell you about Peanut. We had gone to a bird show to take classes to get us ready to adopt a TOO from a rescue. My daughter, who has always wanted a Grey, found this baby on sale - for about a 1/3 of what Greys were going for at the time. So I go over to look at him. He was adorable. We were told he was three months old - looking back, I think he was younger. They couldn't give us a hatch date. They told us he has a malformed mucous membrane, but their Vet said it would be no problem. We decided to take him anyway - we had both fallen in love by that time. After the check had changed hands we were told he was still on handfeeding. OK, I learned how to hand feed him. He stayed on hand feedings for three more months. One of the pictures show how he looked after an unusually messy feeding. We took him to an Avain Vet and found out he had three infections. OK, I learned how to give shots. Poor baby was on two meds and two shots a day. And he still loves me!! His malformed mucous membrane means he has a runny nose ALL THE TIME. I have to wipe his neres a few times a day, and flush as often as I can catch him to do it. One picture shows how he looks if I have been gone for a few hours. One picture shows him and his 'little' brother Skittles. The last picture is of him showing off for the kids at one of our visits to schools.
  16. Love that picture. I have a friend who was attacked by birds as a child and is deathly afraid of them now. Back when all I had was a Tiel she would ask me a dozen times to make sure the bird couldn't get out of the cage.
  17. Nancy, it is not as horrible as it sounds. LOL I don't get or make that many calls. I have thought about what you are saying and I think you are right about Peanut needing some more training in acceptable behavior. I have been very lax in any training the past couple of years. He does like to be with me, but I let him come and go as he pleases. He is usually on my shoulder or head when I am on the computer. He will also play on the 'tree' or on Skitles cage. I have not ever used the step-up command with either of my birds. I might give that a try, but not sure about using it too often. I really believe I don't have patience enough any more to train them very well. Up to now, having them go back to their cages on command has been enough. I think I have rambled enough. LOL
  18. Wonderful! TAGs do have large personalities. And just like CAGs they rule the roost.
  19. Thanks. Dan - I tried the arm wave, that's when he got my ear. I am a little afraid of it happening again. I am not afraid of him at any other time. He doesn't usually like to go down the hall, so I am hoping it stays that way. I close the door when I get to the other room. Nancy - the only time my Sun has bitten me is when he had his first hormonal season. Then my ears got it the worse! I could have had a dozen earrings in them. But none of the bites were as bad as Peanut's. Misty - you may have something. My ringtone right now is my Tiel talking. Maybe Peanut is jealous because my ringtone use to be him and Skittles yelling. I think I will try changing it back and see what happens. My only problem here is that Peanut attacked well into the phone conversation, not at the beginning.
  20. Poor babies. Thank you so much for giving them a better future. I agree with the above advise. Have you done any 'bathing' of them? If nothing else it would help them feel better. Just plain water, my grey likes it warm, either in the shower, from a spray bottle or even a shallow pan (like a glass cake pan) given at the bottom of the cage. Good luck and please let us know how the vet visist goes.
  21. This is how I looked about a month ago. I was on the phone and Peanut just dive bombed me and lathched on. Now they both have pestered me when I was on the phone in the past, but NOTHIING like this. It happened again 4 days later - this time to my ear. I now grab the phone and run to the other room and shut the door to talk. Anyone have any other ideas as to how to handle this. Peanut is just fine at all other times.
  22. I agree with Dave. It is your decision and your's alone. The baby will most llikely need flatter perches - available. Maybe, at least at first, padded bottom of cage. You may need a cage that is wider rather than with taller - this would be a bit easier for the baby to get around. As s/he gets older a regular cage may be able to be used. Hopefully the store will give you time to see how the baby is doing before you make up your mind. Please let us know how it goes.
